  1. In fact, this might call not for just moderating. There might be a need to implement one of those 'Type in contents of the box below to post' measures.
  2. Funny i recently was looking into buying sand hourlgass gizmo to keep on my desk. Shame they are not so accurate. Also funny, i saw a few Office-US seasons and not a single episode of original Office with Gervais.
  3. I guess that Your original question is about DACs. Your CD player has better DAC than receiver, thus better sound. If you have a nice external DAC or one integrated in preamp then it might be worth running digital form the media source.
  4. No need to wait.Replaced old capacitors will improve sound.
  5. Jog -Kraftwerk 'Tour de France', mostly 'track2' and such Sprint indoors - Bjork 'Violently Happy' and such Bag - Godsmack 'Crying Like a *****' and such
  6. What is this I don't even
  7. I find Forte IIs awesome for music. However, i just replaced KV3 with Academy (thanks, Rplace) and redid EQ. Watching Master and Commander nearly brought me to tears, haha, so wussy. I might watch that movie again tonight! Hmmm, next in queue was Book of Eli...
  8. If i remember my Latin right, Galina means a Hen.
  9. If I had opportunity to do DIY (space, time and skill) speakers, i would definitely go for it. If You do it right and it results in nice sound, Your enjoyment will be boosted by sense of accomplishement. As for the horn, Mr.Crites might advise if it's possible to use different one. Welcome to forum
  10. I can confirm this. Just hooked the XPA-5 and UMC-1 to test for noise (never ever noticed it before) and with my ear 1 foot in front of drivers i can hear small hiss with no source playing. But then again, at 99dB Forte IIs are not as sensitive as Heritage speakers.
  11. I personally do not need balanced as in my HT connections are short and i have no interference to eliminate. UPA-1 is not a balanced amp anyways, but they might be releasing something like that soon. Emotiva have like 40 new products in works so watch out for more of great value they produce
  12. UPA-1 has the same one channel 200W module as multichannel XPA amps XPA-5 and XPA-3 have, but gets benefits of monoblock. XPA-2 is entirely different beast and XPA-1 is a fully balanced 500W amp up there with higher end. Loads of info on those amps at Emo forums. You can start here
  13. iirc this thread has been done already. Anyways, i like Holly Cole's version of 'Train Song' from Temptation album. Also, song 'Avratz' from Infected Mushroom's album 'Converting Vegetarians'CD2 has great bass. That's what i like anyways, i am sure there are literaly hundreds others
  14. Right You are, Panasonic makes some fine plasmas. IF You are looking to keep telly for long time - 3 years or more - might as well pick a newer 3D model, You might regret not doing it later, and they are not that much more expensive. SubXero: try 3D at 100'' and above. It's can be eye-poppingly good, mostly expensive projector realm though.
  15. Emotiva is great bang per buck. In fact, i do not know better value. Their amps are good, they make awesome unbalanced preamp, and their pre/pro UMC-1 is musical and very flexible. It had quite a few quirks initially, but they should be have been worked out with firmware updates by now. Also, free shipping and 30 day return period, you can't lose.
  16. Sony US A/Q: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/04/26/update-on-playstation-network-and-qriocity/
  17. Some of You PS3 Online users might not be aware of latest Sony announcement: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/ Bottom line - they say their online user data files got copied by third parties. Names, addresses, internet handles, also possibly CC numbers, exp dates, security question and more. Just in case, I will be stopping and replacing card i had tied to PSN tomorrow. I hope this is for nothing, but at least You lot now have a choice - panic and run around like headless chicken together with me or not Regards
  18. Confirming Emotiva amps are really good value, i run Forte IIs off 2x UPA-1 and it sounds well satisfying. Emotiva preamp USP-1 is best sounding at price range - yes, it's a bold statement and yes, i listened to it, but i liked and kept my slightly more expensive tube preamp. They promised to release XSP-1 this summer, which will be true balanced preamp (although i personally don't really care for balanced). Although i am about to get Oppo95, i still have my Rega Planet CD player and it works beutifully. It's not a preamp, but it could help reassure You that this somewhat rarer brand in US of A produces decent quality products. Good luck in Your search.
  19. So there was another partition after all? Outlook express is simple - boot OS from your old drive (set boot priority in BIOS), launch OE and create an export. Reboot from your new OS drive and, ahem, import the export.
  20. Don't suppose there are other partitions on the disk?
  21. Windows XP are good with disks up to 2TB, with Service Pack 3 at least.
  22. Like video 3D, 'Polarizing ear filters' is the future. Preferably pink and fluffy.
  23. Fuel costing about £1.40 per litre here, i recently changed car as well. I went for a good old VW Passat TDi - 55MPG on motorway and over 40 in the city. Newer VW and especially BMWs beat that easily, but they're too dear for me at the moment. OTOH diesel costs considerably more here and London mayor wants to introduce new 'pollution charge' in the centre of the city for diesel cars in addition to existing daily 'congestion charge' of £10. Sigh. Anyways Wuzzer, i hope you enjoy your new Fiesta, i've heard nice things of it.
  24. Noticed it? Dedicated stereo output with new ESS DAC is probably the main selling point of 95 over 93. I might pull the trigger on 95 to make use of this DAC on my CDs and streamed FLACs. Otherwise, i cannot really justify Oppo 93 over my Rega CD player and PS3.
