  1. Something he could try... First, leave the power supply xformer CT grounded at the first capacitor ground lug. It's supposed to be that way. Did the amplifier have a three pronged power cord, or a two pronged plug to begin with? You mentioned 120Hz hum, which could be power supply related...I dunno... Try lifting the ground of the three prong power cord, and see if the noise goes away, (make sure the polarity is right) or power the sources to the integrated amp from a different wall socket.
  2. His comments on Vince Meal and Motley Crue are golden...
  3. You had an earlier thread where you mentioned the amplifier had low volume output. Did you solve that issue? Did to the amplifier have hum problems before the rebuild?
  4. Spodie…(sp?)…where you add fruit. If you used minimal juice and good alcohol, they would turn out pretty good. The fruit was excellent the day after. But everyone would buy dirt cheap liquor, or some clown would buy Gin... My liquor of choice in High School. That stuff will ruin your day...
  5. Is there much difference between KN728 and KN928?
  6. Reminds of the Eminem Godzilla video where he pukes Legos all over the floor...

  8. Thanks for the offer, but I'm not re-doing anything to the circuit.
  9. It has. I think the kits were designated KT-250A. I think mine was a kit.
  10. So you are driving the grid of 50L6 directly from a 2volt output of a CD player? (or whatever puts out 2 volts RMS) External PS? Indeed it is.
  11. I just started power-up/biasing and troubleshooting. I used snap-in capacitors for the voltage doubler. They are quite smaller. So I mounted the caps to perf-board, and then attached the perf-board to the chassis. I suppose it would be a re-cap/refurbish.
  12. Here's a Lafayette Stereo 250A I've been poking away on. An Integrated push-pull EL86 amplifier of American manufacture. Though some seem to think the output transformers could be Japanese. The knobs are not original of course. Most the original knobs were gone when I acquired the amplifier. My guess is, one Lafayette Stereo 250A in thirty will have the original knobs. The brown inner concentric knobs are Eico. The white outer knobs are Fender. I had to drill out the Eico knobs to fit on the outer concentric shaft, and shorten the Fender knobs to affix to the inner shaft. I have no idea what the two outer knobs are pilfered from...
  13. I think you mean Lafayette LA-224? B or A... It's a push-pull integrated tube amplifier, suffix A or B determines if it's ECL86 or EL84 for output tubes. Most likely manufactured in Japan.
  14. Imagine the closed casket funeral because the said teenager turned into mush, from the large tree that wadded the Mustang into a ball
  15. The amplifier is set-up for individual bias pots for each tube, but I'm only using two bias pots for each pair until I source more Bournes trim pots. schematic (1).pdf
