  1. I only need about $230K to pay off the mortgage. Then I could join you guys in retirement land .
  2. RIp David Bowie. The man who fell to earth has returned to where ever he came from.
  3. We are talking about a powered sub? And the cable(s) to it? Most all subs sum the signals on the two inputs (after all it is a mono subwoofer) so you will have more gain with the same signal going into both inputs. It will be easier to overdrive the sub with both inputs connected. If you are using an AVR with calibration software (audessey or similar) it will take this into account and reduce the signal going to the sub. So if you have a dedicated subwoofer out going to your sub it should make no difference as long as you run the calibration software with either configuration.
  4. How long is it? Many people Y from a male to male RCA cable so they can go into both the L and R inputs on a sub using what you are describing(1 female to 2 males). Like this: http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=102&cp_id=10236&cs_id=1023603&p_id=6261&seq=1&format=2
  5. If it is oil finish as Roger states this is what I would do. Fill that crack/missing veneer with this: https://www.dap.com/dap-products-ph/plastic-wood-solvent-professional-wood-filler/ use the natural or lightest oak one because when you re oil it will darken. Sand your patch to the original lines of the wood so the smallest amount of patch remains just to cover the defect. Then use one of these: http://www.minwax.com/wood-products/maintenance-repair/minwax-wood-finish-stain-marker to mimic the darker grain strands in the oak veneer Then lightly resand the entire cabinet. Be careful when re sanding because as others have stated the veneer is THIN. Then re oil with Watco natural oil finish.
  6. First off, Welcome to the forums. Is the damage on the corner in one of your pictures the worst of the damage? If so personally I would try to fix that. Do you know what the finish is? Is it oil or lacquer, I mean. Oil finishes are very easy to redo/renew, lacquer takes more time and skill. This assumes you intend to keep these, which sounds like you do since you have already contacted Mr. Crites.
  7. How do you "lose" $332 million? Does it mean squandered it? I guess I just don't get it. If you made some safe investments that only paid you 1% a year that'd be $3.32 million a year to "blow"(up your nose or otherwise). Like I said I just don't get it.
  8. Yea but will there be any music playing? He-Haw, have a great time Carl.
  9. Spent many hours at Frentz & Sons Hardware back in the day. There still there at Catalpa and Main? Wow, brings back memories.
  10. I think Chris A. has shown in some cases a lot more attention to detail is shown by mastering engineers when cutting masters for vinyl. As opposed to "just make it really compressed and LOUD for CD masters, people will love it if its louder". Not quoting Chris here but some fictitious record producer.
  11. I remember this picture of PWK investigating those large Western Electric horns similar to that previous picture....... At first I thought he was measuring for a new Khorn top hat, then I saw this picture of PWK and Jim Hunter with this monster horn. . "Yea yea yea I know Paul.... we'll spray foam all over the outside of it and there'll be no resonance"
  12. I don't know nuttin, but one day Sancho posted "I'm outta here". Haven't seen a post since.
  13. Mark1101 TrueHeartSound http://stores.ebay.com/True-Heart-Sound Sent you a PM.
  14. Good news for me. Both drivers honk Sorry you are having trouble Juniper. On one of mine the black terminal seemed a little loose. Are you sure your open is not there, right where the internal wires attach to the terminals?
  15. Nope, UPS took care of one of the frams..... They are soooo lame...... Please elaborate. One of the diaphragms is damaged? All the way down inside this driver, damaged by UPS? I'm curious cuz I got a set also from same seller. So even if they read OK with a meter I have to visually inspect? Yes, all the way down in the belly of the driver.... must have been a "big hit" from UPS, Monty at THS, inspected it, and the fram was torn at the edge, a replacement is in the mail. They were packaged and labeled properly, but one of the CD's read open, so I sent it back.... sad to hear UPS trashed them.... rare frams as they are... You should be good to go if you are getting good readings. Thanks Juniper. But since I'm a way off from getting these drivers mounted to any horn(let alone a 402) I think I better put a signal through them and make sure they honk.

  17. AMEN My prayers go out to his family and friends. 1 Thessalonians 4, 13-18
  18. A little sore as to be expected I think. Thanks for asking. What sucks is its only about a third done. But the Lord has been gracious holding off the rain around these parts. Happy New Year to everyone!
  19. The tophats come completely off pretty easily as well as the side grills on the bass horn. Two able bodied men should be able to do it.
  20. Well back inside after working on the driveway all day. Ay carumba! Anybody know how much 27 tons of gravel weighs? Time for the cocktail side of this thread And yes sometimes I do drink alone
  21. Morning Gang, Couple cups down(OK 3 or 4), man it looks cold outside. Frost is dissipating as the sun does its thing, still probably only 40 with a high today about 60. Getting 27 tons of gravel delivered for the dirt portion of driveway at 10am. Better get out there and get ready. Later ......
  22. Yea... I used to Bose but now I knows.............
  23. I assume (here I go again making an azz of u and me) its Bob Crites' implementation of a Klipsch Type A network. See the crossover thread pinned at the top of this forum section. Hope this helps.
