Alright...! Who got the CF-3’s in Gig Harbor WA for $175? I contacted him within 20 minutes of the ads going live and said I would be more than willing to pay him more than his asking price and the next message I got was that the item has been sold. Sitting in my office thinking about what would have been.. I guess my Epic search continues.

I would also keep the 450C over the 440C, even with that difference in price. Center channel isn’t the place to try and save money.

Agreed. Didn’t mean for it to come across as the path was easy, just that memories fade. My genaration has had it pretty easy so many don’t know what real struggle is, myself included. I think this is why most great civilians fall. My family has a long line of military service so I respect the path those who sacrificed all did to pave this smooth surface we stroll on. We just can’t allow people to take this for granted.

Life has definitely been too easy for most in the US. That’s why we fight and protest about insignificant things that shouldn’t even be in the local news. Brand of receivers is a hot topic around here. People seem to have brand loyalty, yes, that includes me. Most people recommend the brand they use. Here are the brands of receivers I have owned, within the past 6 or 7 years: Denon, Yamaha Aventage, Pioneer Elite, Onkyo and Marantz. Out of those brands, you really can’t go wrong. The problem with technology is that unless you were there, to hear the horse flapping it’s gums, even videos can be “altered” to reflect bias. Just watch how the media can leave a small portion of an interview/conversation out and that small dropped portion, could totally change the entire way that interview comes across.

I have purchased 3 refurbished receivers from accessories4less and never had a single problem with any of them. I was going to recommend going refurbished anyway. These modern receivers are like computers at this point and if you try to keep up with the newest and best technology, buying them anywhere near MSRP would cause you to broke or insane, whichever came first:)

I honestly believe the information that is at our fingertips, each and everyday, is going to evolve the human species faster than we can fathom. Spiritually, economically, physically, politically etc., I am talking who we are, what we do, everything. My biggest concern with this evolution is who will be responsible for “releasing” this information to the masses and if they decide to color that information for their own personal benefits or not.

Welcome RADH! If you provide an overall budget, the fine members here would probably put together the best system with your budget in mind. With that said, looks like the 5.1 theater pack is $999 so I will start there. I would start with a higher quality front 3 before I would “compromise” on a 5.1. Here is what I would start with, If I were in your shoes: Qty. 2 RP-150M bookshelf speakers ~ $250 Qty 1 RP-150C Center Speaker ~ $250 Qty. 1 R110SW Subwoofer ~ $450 I would normally never recommend a 10” subwoofer but with the size of your room and the fact you share a wall with neighbors, that sub would be plenty. I would also go with a SVS SB1000 over the klipsch sub I mentioned but I figured I would keep it all Klipsch for simplicity. This is fun! What is your receiver budget? 😏

I would have to agree^^. Those were the days when being gay could have cost you a job, your dignity or worse, your safety. Why on earth people care about who someone is attracted to is beyond me. I was partially raised by a lesbian godmother, so that probably helped me to not to judge a person’s character by what they do behind closed doors. He never officially came out, from the little research I had time to dedicate to the subject, but he sure as heck helped pave the way for thousands, of not millions who were living a lie and didn’t think coming out was even a possibility.

I can be a bit of an idealist at times but I do believe there is a way to pull corporate spending out of our elections, I am just not smart enough to figure that out😬

The internet has slowly been eroding the curtains politicians have been using to hide their unscrupulous activities/agendas for decades. This new generation of informed voters is going to change the way this country is run. The nation grows weary of the rampant greed and scandals that has been undermining the values of our system. Money does and has corrupted the system and now is the time to pull the money out so voters can formulate unbiased opinions based of facts instead of what corporations/media want you to believe. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc. are the worst offenders, even when they do a much better job of hiding their partisanship. The media can’t help but flavor the news, which is making it almost impossible to watch without leaning towards the presenter’s opinions. This has to stop or everyone needs to boycott any and all biased news sources. The echo-chamber effect is very real and very dangerous. I don’t normally get political but this coconut americano has me a little more fired up than normal this morning..

The RP-160M’s are no slouch. I used to run 4 of them with a RP-450C center with dual subs and that setup was 90% of what my Palladium’s were for movies. What at is your main purpose for the speakers (HT or music) and how large is the room?

The newish Tron is still my my favorite thing to put on, when my Sonos friends think they have achieved “audio bliss”..

Now that I have had mine for about a week or so, I can tell you that it is $129 well spent. I like knowing that the fireplace, aka 200.7, is about 20 degrees cooler now. Plus, the front exhaust also acts like a small foot heater. Congratulations on the new addition!
