  1. Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.........
  2. I'm starting to look around for a new TV, but haven't really kept up with the technology and would like some input. Seems like a want a RPTV with 16:9 format. I currently watch more broadcast than DVD, so I figure that's where the letterbox and pulldown things come into play which I really don't understand. Distance from TV to viewing position is about 10' so was thinking about a 40-45 screen size with a budget of around $2000. Seems like most have progressive scan and are HD ready, but the different scan modes are confusing ie. 720/1080 etc. Anyway, thanks for any input or links that would explain some of this stuff.
  3. When I listen to my system... ... I am __11____ feet away from the speakers. ... there is a __wall 8 ft.____ behind my head (wall, nothing, padding from listening chair, etc.) ... I sit __up____ (up, up and somewhat forward, reclined, etc.) ... I am __somewhat intoxercated____ (somewhat intoxicated, stoned, straight, blasted)
  4. I'm looking to try some RS3's as rear surrounds as my listening area is kinda narrow and I need to free up some floor space. So, just thinking my 20's and C7 might be too much for the RS3's although only in my home only I can decide that. But wondering if anyone has run into a similar situation. I'm sure I could upgrade to RS7's if need be, but size and cost are a concern also. Going to a local authorized dealer Saturday and will probably get the RS3's and see what happens. If KSP-S6's weren't so hard to find, (and getting kinda old) I might consider that if in exceptional condition. Oh well, I'm rambling.........
  5. Very nice looking room, bet it sounds just as good. I may not no all the background on the project, but why did you use false corners vs. the room corners? Just curious, enjoy it!
  6. Found this article in a magazine, then found it online. The mag has more pictures, but the article is the same. Thought it was interesting, enjoy. http://www.americanheritage.com/it/2002/02/tube.shtml
  7. I'd rather drive to Hope than fly to Indy,,,just an opinion...
  8. First time to see the new board tonight; change happens, so we will deal with it. My new avitar is now more appropriate although I really don't have a hat, more of an urban cowboy I guess. My only comment now would be that smilies should be yellow.
  9. Orange beat me to it; a big "?" with some nice background shot of your choice.
  10. I've had my AVR-210 for about a year and have been absolutely satisfied with it. I really like the looks of H/K's receivers, and for me, the performance is super. A buddy got his AVR-520 just last Saturday and it's very nice. ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 PreAmp - ASL AQ2004DT Amp - ASL Wave 8 mono blocks Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
  11. A rough start is to form an equilateral triangle image with the speakers and your listening position the triangle points. I've read that some horn speakers should be pointed straight ahead, vs. toe'ed in to the sweet spot. Only your speakers in your room can be enjoyed by you. Speaker placement is the cheapest tweak available, but 6" from the wall is too close. ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 PreAmp - ASL AQ2004DT Amp - ASL Wave 8 mono blocks Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
  12. I think you and Justin should take off in his private jet to his get away in the Cayman's, then buy duty free TAG and Omega watches. Let us know when you need ideas on your $42,000 home theater or you parlor room with a $400 budget. My $20.00 Timex reads 11:14, same as anyones Rolex, Omega, TAG. 15. As some of you know, I got the little ASL Wave 8 mono blocks and the AQ2004DT preamp. Realized I've just stepped into the never come back world. WOW, have been having a blast playing everything from Adam Ant to Weather Report. My rig is dog meat compared to most of ya'll, but I love it, these little tubes rock; it can only get better. Just heard Deodato doing "Peter Gunn", pure nasty, gotta love it. Off to listen to Lalo Schifrin original soundtracks of Mission Impossible and Mannix; don't laugh, good tunes. 20. Wide Dispersion Surround Technology; allows the sound to be "sprayed" throught the room as HornEd explains it. 22. Not really a 2 channel question, but you guys know what's going on. I know Klipsch is high effecient, but why? The horn lenses, the compression drivers? I'm trying to get into this and I'm hooked. Thanks, Mark ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 TV - RCA 31" Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
  23. Well, most of the peeps in the 2 channel room use tubes, dunno if it's justified... ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 TV - RCA 31" Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
  24. OK, here's what I did, be it good, bad, or indifferent. I got the ASL AQ2004DT preamp and the ASL Wave 8 mono blocks. Connected earlier and spent an hour or so with them and first impressions are good. Now, I have never heard tubes before, but already know it beats the H/K receiver's sound. LOL, the last tube thing I saw was a WWII radio me and my brother used to play "Army" with. Anyway, I listened to many different LP's from Harry James to Blondie to Bob James to Tom Scott and was impressed. I was surprised that these little things immediately pushed my 20's to volume I didn't push too far. Bass was tight and quick which surprised me, and the overall sound was a bit "warm" I guess, but not boring at all. So, my entry to tubes has been most pleasing, granted I'm no where near most of you; it can only get better. "Damn the deck, I need tubes". Two questions: 1. Is there a preffered or recommended power-up sequence? 2: The amp tubes glow, but the preamps don't, is this normal? 25. easyeyes, Look at the thread I started some days ago; I asked very near the same question you are. ------------------ Turntable - Pro-Ject 2.0 Phono Preamp - Parasound PPH-100 Receiver - H/K AVR-210 DVD - Sony DVP-S360 TV - RCA 31" Mains - KLF-20 Center - KLF-C7 Surrounds - Optimus Pro LX-10 Sub - Yamaha YST-SW160 Reinforcement - JBL 4638
