  1. Just curious how loud are you listening to them when you get ear fatigue? When I was comparing my RF-7 to my previous RF-83, I made a comment that I could easily see how at loud volume, one could get ear fatigue. Not so with the RF-83's because they were very smooth sounding, even at extreme volumes. The Onkyo might not be your problem, it's part of the characteristic of the RF-7's.I have been following this thread quite intently as I and Mattser have the same Onkyo 3008 running 7's. I have only really noticed ear fatigue on rare occasion where the system is being ran at very high db's for extended periods of time (read:parties), but isn't that kind of too be expected? If I weren't experiencing some fatigue from high volume, after lengthy listening, I'd begin to question my own hearing going out. That said, my previous receiver was also an Onkyo TX-NR609, much less ability but with apparently the same inherent sound profile. I didn't notice any harshness increase when upgrading, despite than listening at higher volumes more frequently just because I had the power, I also added the XPA-5 at the same time. My 3008 does very little work output wise, relegated to powering just the rears in an 7.2, or rears and fronts heights when I experimented with 9.2. I've been experiencing weird HDCP playback issues lately that I think may be the result of old firmware on the 3008. Haven't nailed it down yet, but I intend on swapping in an Emotiva UMC-1 at some point just to check if the problem persists. Overall I feel that the 3008 has been fantastic for me. The Audyssey XT-32 is fantastic room correction software, the wattage output is solid, build quality is great, UI is very intuitive. Now, had I spent $2500 I'm not sure that I'd have all of the same feelings, particularly with this handshake issue arising. However, at a used market price anywhere between $900-1200 when I bought it, it provided a great value IMO. Alas, much like anything else in life, personal preferences can play the single biggest role with ones happiness with what they own.
  2. I bought fabric from Seymour for a 150" scope screen but they sent me extra so I can cut it at an angle. The AE8000 would be sweet. Trying to work out a barter deal for one. Michael, bear in mind, as I'm sure you have, that the "extra" material is not really extra. It is simply there to allow for them, or you, to cut the screen at the best angle for moire reduction. I had them do it for me simply because I didn't have the space available to take on such a tediously accurate cutting project. Nor would I have known what that correct angle was anyhow. For me and my innate lack of skill in this area, the extra $30 or whatever it was, was worth it. I just switched to an Optoma HD-25LV from an much older Optoma HD-20 that I had purchased on here. I don't think that this is what you're looking for per se. More so just wanted to express my happiness with Optoma as a brand. With my limited experience I'd say their product is very good. Mine was originally $2300 last year and can now be had for $899 on Amazon. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. It's very bright at 3500Lumens and works very well with the Seymour AT Cinema Scope material. I'm currently having some weird HDCP playback issues that I can only attribute to my receiver at this point. Having not eliminated all other options just yet, but that's simply an aside.
  3. I ran an RB-35 as a center between RF-25's and it sounded fantastic, sadly, it didn't pass the WAF. That's is how I ended up with wall mounted Gallery series in the living room. Had it been up to me it never would have changed. The sound was much more dynamic and full than it is now, even with the addition of one heck of a mini sub picking up the slack for the lack of bass in the Gallery's sound. It should be noted that when I did that the horns were nearly perfectly horizontal across all three front speakers. Very even sound output having not mounted the center either higher, or lower than the towers. Good luck!
  4. FYI, there are other members in line before me, and multiple other inquiries from "craigslisters" to the seller of this set. I'm sure that the member whom is first in line will fill us in if/when he gets them.
  5. I'm taking a shot at getting this set. I've got a buddy At the beginning of a HT project and this would be perfect for him. I'm really hoping that I can get these for him. It's a few hours drive for me (well him, lol) but would be worth it I do believe. We'll see how the seller responds to my email. Thanks to the OP for the heads up.
  6. I never find these RSW-15's when I'm looking, but luckily through your guys assistance, they find me. I've sent an email this morning to the seller as Holland is approximately 2.5 hrs from me. I'll scoop this up for that price, I don't need the RS-7's but I'd certainly love to incorporate a third RSW-15 into my system. Long shot most likely but we will see. I wouldn't bother for Black or Maple but this Cherry one would be a mighty purty addition. Cross your fingers for me.
  7. It says (Each) in the blue text under the title of the item. Ahh, yes, you are correct sir.
  8. I just typed out seven paragraphs outlining my impressions of Seymour AT material. Than my iPad froze and I lost it. So, I'm just gonna say it's awesome, well worth the money and I wouldn't go another direction.
  9. Agreed. The woofers are also very hard to come across and typically sell for $75-100/per. There was a guy in Canda that had (has) a bunch of parts for older series Reference stuff. The RC-7 woofers went quick. Sending you a PM.
  10. I saw the same thing and never read "each" anywhere, it definitely said pair. Error? Probably, but someone may be able to get them to honor that. It's their ad after all.
  11. On this forum, for $1k or less, I've seen many great options; RF-7, LaScala, Cornwall. None of these have the ill fated built in amps and perhaps, "will sound better for the price", IMO.
  12. I'd try and get the RF-5's for less than $400 and leave the rest of that lesser quality stuff behind.
  13. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for a pair of these, brand new or not. You're rolling the device when you purchase a pair of speakers with known quality issues, very well known I might add. They could last you many years with no troubles, or they could die tomorrow. It's not worth it. If you want to spend around $1k or less on a pair off Klipsch, there are many better options IMO.
  14. Looks like an old RP, KSP set. Am I the only one wondering the obvious question of where the SCREEN is? You go through all of that effort with the decor, lighting, surround sound, platformed multi-chair seating, custom built in, custom woodwork on the walls. All of that and than what looks like a 47" TV is the center of it all? Weird. That dude cannot be my friend.
  15. The headlines tomorrow will read: Speaker Porn Blocked By Internet Filter ~ "It Really works!", says the inventor.
  16. Tremors

    canceled

This guy has always seemed totally legit too me. He lives in a foreign country and simply doesn't speak english very well. I recall him being taken by some swindler/sheister years back, because of this. Seems to me like he is just trying to re-condition his older speakers as best he can. Don't expect to see these for sale anytime soon.
  17. What did you end up doing with these?
  18. Beginning of the thread = Consensus says, don't buy older technology, go with newer. The rest of the thread = Spent talking about which older technology is currently in play in our personal system and how great it is.
  19. If I am going to spend $172 (w/ship) for a two channel light meter, I damn well better not have to glue and solder anything. I'd venture to say it's ready to go out of the box. It is just two led lights after all.
  20. Maybe Newegg will buy a few truckloads That's pretty funny.
  21. Nice score, def a good deal. As mentioned, I wouldn't be too concerned with the front heights matching.
  22. Me thinks the number of lines has more to do with the ".5" of the 5.5 setup. But hey, that much bangin' takes an accurate description of the source
  23. The pair in Arizona have been posted for a long time. The palm springs set is a good deal IMO and I'd jump on it, if that full set is appealing.
