  1. I thought you guys always ate green persimmons in the summer...
  2. Could you try the ported box under the LS? These have the bottom access, yes? All it would take to try is some wood or mdf and some pvc.Bruce
  3. It might be grand overkill. Depending on where the amp is located, the fans may be too noisy for you. Is this a CC series amp? Crest Audio
  4. Did you have a pipe break? Sure hasn't been any rain to speak of.... just COLD! Glad to hear there's not much damage. Bruce
  5. My LaScalas easily fit inside my Blazer. The only thing special that I did was to put in a sheet of 1/2 inch particle board (some that was very smooth), cut to fit the inside of the Blazer. It covered all the hinges and bumps on the floor. And only a blanket over that, and they slid right in without snagging on anything.
  6. After the original thread, GaryMD sent me California Bloodlines and Cannons in the Rain, both on vinyl. Asa generation of folksdid, I learned to play the guitar from the Kingston Trio. What probably went un-noticed was the passing of Nick Reynolds, Oct. 1. 2008, one of the original members of the KT. I'm feeling old. Bruce
  7. John, You could get a copy of Bassbox Lite... [] It's not too expensive. Bruce http://www.parts-express.com/wizards/searchResults.cfm?searchFilter=bassbox&FTR=&search_type=main&WebPage_ID=3&x=0&y=0
  8. I love those MWMs in natural. That's why I want to build my own.
  9. It doesn't matter, but that is interesting.Far right on the top... [:|] Maybe you see the page upside down, since you are down under...
  10. Hmmm, it's on the top right corner of the home page.Have the retro feel with the heritage would be nice, but they also need to be seen in a modern settting, to know how well they will still work. But more pics and setup info for all of the items would be great, as has been mentioned. Go easy or leave off heavy use of flash front ends that can really slow down the efficiency and loading of pages. Navigation must be easy or people won't stay around. A nice history section would be awesome, because Klipsch has a wonderful history and the presentation would draw people in and point the way to the heritage and newer products. Bruce
  11. Don, From your pics, it looks like you have the CD player plugged into the phono inputs. That wouldn't work very well, and the eq would be totally off. If you can't find a replacement knob that is exact, I would get a replecement pair and move the volume set onto the bass controls. That way the bass and treble would match and new ones could go on the volume. With an EZ81 rectifier, you won't get much power out of the EL84s, but should work pretty nicely. You would do well to get amp gone over and have, at the very least, the power supply caps replaced. Bruce
  12. I have seen both Manuel Barrueco and Christopher Parkening perform with our local symphony. Barrueco was by far the more enjoyable. He looked like he was enjoying himself, having a good time, while Parkening looked pained and hard at work. Barrueco used a mic. and small speaker system right in front of him. Not sure what microphone he used, perhaps a tiny ribbon, the speaker looked like a Mackie HR824. You couldn't tell other than you could always hear him extraordinarily well. With the single speaker in front of him, it was a nice point source. I don't even remember what the music was... [] I love the Rodrigo! The only recording I have is of... Parkening. Wish I could be there to hear the concert. Bruce
  13. Exactly, that the issue near the throat. Not sure the other issue got resolved as to any of the spreadsheet calcs taking ito consideration the centerline versus the top and bottom at an angle... Maybe Mike figured out how to have that fudge factor calculated in, so the template that is drawn from the spreadsheet isexactly right. JC does his calculations all b hand, so that is different altogether. Bruce
  14. I'm up for moving a little more to the South. I remember that while living in Wisconsin, we went almost two weeks where it never got above -10F! It's almost funny, but my GF's older sister works in Iceland. It isn't funny since it's really hard on her, with arthritus and everything. Bruce
  15. I thought it was mentioned that Edgar did notice this. Al's Trachorn is the same way, getting slightly narrower close to the throat. Since the top and ottom are a constant angle, close to the throat, the sides must come in more to maintain the tractrix expansion area. That is what you are asking about, isn't it? If the top and bottom were to have a flatter angle close to the throat, the sides wouldn't have to come in narrower at the one inch mark. I hope I'm not just confusing the issue. I believe Gil had pointed out the reason, previously. Bruce
  16. The Heresy II uses the exact same components as the Tangent 400, a larger, ported cabinet. The Tangent goes lower, and is rated for higher power handling. A friend of mine has a pair... nice!
  17. It will take a lot more sheets of material to build, with a tremendous amount of waste material. It's still a cool idea, though.
  18. The good news is that she really isn't too far behind me in age. Her younger sisters look older than she does. I'll be VERY happy once it IS all worked out. []
  19. Just the three, but the two on the left are each married with a new baby each. This was two years ago...
  20. Is it coming out of one speaker or both? If it is only coming out of one side, reverse the speaker leads (power off first!) and listem to the same track again. If it switches sides, it could still be the speaker, but perhaps it is something on the track itself. Have you played this same cut on another good system and had a listen? I've had that happen before. Maybe something rattling in the studio. The testing it free. Bruce EDIT: Wow... I just listened to that track and right at 4:00 min into the song there is some impressively low bass. I think it might make most speakers rattle. [:|]
  21. Absolutely great! One of my all time favorites.
  22. That is one of the reasons many are using the XTIs. Roy has provided settings for different combinations of the bass bin andtop horn/driver, i.e., 402/K-69, 510/K-69, 402/TAD. He even came up with a no holds barred passive. I think they ended up about 18x24 inches... [:|]
