  1. North Georgia - $3.759 Reg., $4.659 diesel
  2. I know two of the faculty where I work use Rosetta Stone software, and think it is really good. I hope so, as I am still plainning on getting their Tagalog package, pricey though it may be. Bruce
  3. You mean like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge? Close, but in Venice they have Daliwood. [Y]
  4. I was planning on a trip to Ireland this summer, to meet up with my gf, but the plans may change due to some lost visa paperwork. If that is the case, I will be flying back to Macau and the end of July, to meet up with her there. I'm certainly not doing too much driving right now, and have been taking cheap lunches with me to work so I don't have to go out. Bruce
  5. I bought this for myself at Christmas, and still have it in my rotation of CDs I play in a week. I find the lyrics as good as any they have sung, and the production is great. As I have mentioned earlier, I really don't find the songs too political, and think they may be hitting themselves as much as hitting others for their views. I have read reviews where folks complained that they didn't write all the songs, but I looked back at the copy of their first album (with Take it Easy...) and a few of those songs weren't written by them. So what... it's great music. Bruce
  6. Uh, it looks like a few helium filled balloons tethered together...[*-)]
  7. You mean like Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge? [*-)] Although the Isle of Capri certainly has a much longer history.
  8. Why does it have an exhaust pipe? Uh, wrong pic. Many of the electrics there look the same from a distance. [:$]
  9. Not necessarily. There are generic tartans and plaids that you can get as kilts, that aren't affiliated with a particular clan. I work at a small Presbyterian college, and a number of the men wear kilts, especially for dress occasions. There is a drum and pipe group that plays for convocation, when all the faculty march in and are introduced to the freshmen class. For this they wear the dress kilts, and all the accessories. A couple will wear standard work kilts on a regular basis. Our school had a tartan that was designed and registered. If the material is bought, it is on special order with a minimum requirement for the purchase. Bruce
  10. Really? [*-)] The article was probably more interesting in a way, as they interviewed the owner. He had started the collection and originally kept it in his office... Anyway, it is a strange world, isn't it?
  11. I saw the story for this on the BBC News website. You have to wonder. MUSEUM
  12. Little did you know, you only needed to come to the Klipsch forums...[] Awesome stories, Erik. Thanks for sharing them with us.
  13. Unfortunately, I have too many CDs where there IS low level noise from the concert hall. It's on the LP version too. My mileage does vary, from CD to CD, but it isn't just theoretical, LPs don't have the dynamic range of CDs.
  14. That isn't a failure of CDs, but a failure of the recording and mastering process.
  15. Colin, The electric scooter would be my choice. The Vectrix has a higher top end and range than thoe ones I saw in China, but the ones in China were under a grand, making it far more attractive. Of course, once it got imported, I am sure the price would be a lot higher. Seeing these up close and hearing them (or not, as it is in reality) is pretty cool. Bruce
  16. Jay, You are so right about the cleaner diesel, so the older models that are still running should pollute much less.
  17. The microphone that you use will have an xlr connector on it, so you need to use a good microphone preamp to interface with the computer sound card (or through a usb interface). TrueRTA includes calibration files for a variety of microphones.Bruce
  18. Out of habit, I usually save any technical info when Dennis posts it. The following was from another thread on the HK receivers, almost a year and a half ago. (This may be for the 430, though, but that's why I post the pdf of the tech manual) When this amp was new, electrolytic values were -10%, +100% Just make sure the new ones fit, you may need to go higher in voltage (that's fine) and don't go higher than X2 of the original value in µF. Unit pops? C405 Gain is low/no bass? C408 (most likely), or C402 Scratchy volume control (on turn-on, OK after a few minutes)? C504 or C712 Hum (one channel)? C6, 7 or C8, 9 Hum (both channels, varies with volume)? C4, 15 Hum (tuner)? C3,4 Best bet? Like roaches, you got to get 'em all (the smaller caps are about $0.10 each in 25 lot from Mouser). Given the popularity of this unit, it makes sense to do a group buy and make up a kit of all values required. A quick comparison to the schematic will let you know. In any case, the cost isn't high at all.
  19. They have different verisios. THe higher the resolution, the higher the price. You still need to add a mic and small mixer, etc., to go with the laptop. http://www.trueaudio.com/
  20. People have mentioned the high mileage of the mid 80s VW diesels. The did get 50+ mpg. Now we have cleaner air. Personally, I will take the cleaner air over the mileage. Industry has cleaned up its act a lot too. Chattanooga's air in the 60s and beginning of the 70s was so polluted you almost couldn't see downtown from the top of Lookout Mountain. Of course... all the foundries have now closed... BUT we can breathe! We will get even with China (see pic). BTW, the nice looking scooter in the lower left is electric, and costs about $400 US.
  21. Yeah, it's a pretty nice lineup. Some of the opening acts are pretty good too (and some are not...[*-)])
  22. Ouch, that website is pretty awful...
  23. Hmmm, it makes me think your laptop is a TARDIS... bigger on the inside than it is on the outside.
