  3. So far it's lookin' pretty good. How did the face come out?
  4. Everyone should lock their arms when not in use. I always do. Who knows who would bump into it vacuuming around it, dusting, or whatever!
  5. So, Mr. James.........having them raised off the floor like in your picture (and they do look durn good!) improves the sound by a large amount ?? - although you might lose a little in the bass end, I'm guessing?
  6. $20.............that Sir is very hard to beat!!!!!!
  7. 1977 ? Recap and be prepared to be thrilled!
  8. How'd it go, did you get them redone? Should sound pretty nice with new caps.
  9. Not too many in New Mexico, or New York for that matter.
  10. That youtube video has got to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. Btw, with those speakers you listed, you really don't need gobs of power. On integrated amps I like that its all in one. You could also try checking out H.H. Scott amps - (beautifully made with high quality iron in the transformers) of which I have a 299C and just received from Craig a 299D which is a big secret for my son, along with a pair of Cornwalls. 30 amps a channel and it's way more than enough for me. Hope this helps.
  12. Yes, what I got out of it was overall, he really liked the Heresy's. Now what I was wondering (either in this review or another one - can't remember which) Is that they raised the Heresy's off the floor with 24 inch stands. Has anybody here tried that or is it just nonsense ???
  13. Or a case of 7591's....................early 70's. Keep wishin' I had a Time Machine.
  14. Ah believe I'll pass.................................................!
  15. Thanks for the info, man! Using your list - I see my Marantz uses the Cirrus CS 4398 chips, and I couldn't be happier with my system. Again....Thank you!
  16. Ski Bum, I went with a Scott Amp ( the 299C ) with the hope that it would sound pretty good with my Cornscalas, after all the hoopla I've read about how great they sound. I found one on ebay, and had the seller send it directly to Craig at NOS Valves. When I finally received it and hooked it up I was at first Flabbergasted, then Gobsmacked, then ..........well I could go on and on but I'm sure you got the idea. Now remember these amps are over 50 years old and still kick major butt. I recently had a chance to test a modern Japanese "Leben" tube amp of about 32 watts (same as the Scott) with my Cornscalas. It sounded nice but a little diminished overall and the soundstage was much less than the Scott. My friend who brought the Leben over said he paid almost $7000 for it. I smiled - couldn't help it - and said "for that much you could have had 8 Scott amps". Fwiw, any of the Scott 299's as well as the LK 48's and LK72's and 233 models would be great for your speakers. Good luck whichever way you go! Steve
  17. I'm kinda partial to the Fleur De Lis with blue backround. Kind of classic, like the speakers.
  18. Let's see, Sony audiophile speaker - $27,000. Klipschorn - $9000. I'll put my money on Klipsch!
  19. Wow.................. you really learn a lot 'o stuff on these boards!!!!!!!
  20. When I saw the original post, it said "Vintage" HK receiver from the early 70's. I thought vintage meant it had tubes. So if I had a Scott tube amp from the early 60's, would that be considered "Classic"? I know it wouldn't be called antique because I consider antique like 1920's and 30's stuff. But then what do you call 40's and 50's stuff?
