Awesome! Those look really great. :-) I enjoy my pair also, with Sansui no less. Vintage Yamaha is really great also. You should show off that Yammy too!
Speakerlab K parts can be great. It just depends on the particular version and options selected. I recapped a pair of Speakerlab K crossovers, and they sound very good to me.
Wow. That's a lot of speaker for the money! Good luck with your sale. Really cool! How do you have the Vifa ring radiator tweeters integrated? Crossover?
Dang, that's a bummer. If the tweeters are still good, they could be fun project speakers. Pop in those Parts Express woofers, eq if necessary, and have some fun.
If he did a good job building them and the seals are tight, I'd definitely check them out. Which drivers are in them? Are there photos? There were a few different versions with different horns and tweeters used.
I'd order a pair of Crites Ti tweeter diaphragms for 60 bucks. Really brings forth the detail without being harsh. I have them installed in my C2s. It's fairly easy to do.
That was a top of the line model made for Realistic by Foster Electronics, I believe. It's HEAVY with a very large transformer and big heatsinks inside.
Really nice sounding receiver! I owned one. Looks super cool with the lights on in the dark. It definitely holds its own when compared to the other big boy monster receivers. I didn't have room, and traded mine away. Good luck with your sale!
Marantz 2230 for me. I'd recommend new output and coupling caps, at least. I traded away my 2270. It was great, but I was more than satisfied with the 2230. 2270 are pretty expensive nowadays.
