  1. As im sure you know, whatever he did was "Top Notch"
  2. I am in total agreement. If the drivers are working fine, i would leave them as is. i would start with Upgrading the caps first. enjoy them like this first and upgrade later. Now having said that there may be some upgrades which are worth while, tweeters maybe, but i dont think you need to swap them all on wholesale. There is some merit to doing upgrades, i think as the thread progresses you will get a better idea in a day or two. Im sure the Khorn owners will chime in at any moment and give you the "real goods"
  3. Very nice looking speakers there man. Good score!!
  4. Wow if I lived that close I could take them to Disney plus upgrade. I might take you up on that offer, if I make it out that way. Youthman, where exactly are you? I heading to Tampa in April maybe
  5. To your audio or your family???? I would really rather pay my "fair share" into some more audio gear. Agreed, i'd rather have more audio gear too...
  6. Wondering if you guys can confirm pricing on KLF30's? 650 to 750 maybe?
  7. I think its definately worth saving...cant get those anymore... This might be one of the "Mono" units?
  8. You'll fit right in! Welcome welcome. No kidding...
  9. Well, i dont have any experience with the RB81, however my first instinct is to say heresy all the way. I just dont think the RB81 would be able to keep up to a Heresy. I think if you were able to do an A B test with both speakers the decision would become clear. Either way you will need a woofer for a HT surrounding either choice. If you can fit Heresy, i'd build around those, Three Heresy's across the front sound stage would be a killer setup with a good sub. Now having said all that, If you build a system around the RB81, i think you would be happy with that too. There are lots of happy Reference users around which will chyme in. They might have more experience with the RB81's....
  10. Extended Warranty = "Please give us more of your money for nothing" Retail locations like "Future shop" and "Best Buy" are making alot of money on these warranties.
  11. I have to agree on this point. For a TV, there pretty much disposable these days and cheap in comparison to what they used to be. For the most part, I dont buy warranties either...
  12. I think i have to agreee with Dtel on this one. False corners done properly might be the best option yet. At least its realtively cheap to try before we do anything crazy like putting a nice set of Khorns on the used market. Try to keep your horns. this could be a different thread but Im all about subs...good subs. The Bass from my 684 is tight, not boomy, very concise and to the point. but its larger than your average unit. Bigger subs are better...lol.
  13. maybe you guys could arm wrestle for them?.
  14. Jubilee bottoms with a K402 or K510 horn.
  15. Im with Willand on this as well...bigger speakers are better.[Y] Stick around for a while, You'll see... Keep what you have for a while, mess with it until you've exhausted all your options. then you will be more informed with your next decision.
  16. Is it just the placement issue or is it a size issue as well? I've had both la scala's and Belles, I'd say the Belles are a little smoother than the La Scala's, but not quite Khorns. Assuming size is not an issue, have you thought about Jubilee bottoms?
  17. It might be best to just put new capacitors in them and try that first before replacing the xovers.
  18. Thats a real set of beauties you have there. lol. You going to restore them at all?
  19. dont think this mod is needed. +1 for a Sub.
