  1. DUCK HUNTING IN TEXAS A big-city California lawyer went duck hunting in rural Texas. He shot and dropped a duck, but it fell into a farmer's field on the other side of a fence from where the lawyer shot. As the lawyer started to climb over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his tractor and asked him just what the heck he thought he was doin'. The lawyer responded, "I shot a duck and it fell into this field, and now I'm going to retrieve it." The old farmer replied, "You just hold on a dadburn minute. This is my property and thar's no way yur comin' over that thar fence." The indignant lawyer said, "I am one of the best trial attorneys in the U.S. and if you don't let me get that duck, I'll sue you and take everything you own! The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we do things down here in Texas. We settle small disagreements like this with the 'Texas Three-Kick' rule." The lawyer asked, "What is the 'Texas Three-Kick Rule'?" The farmer replied, "Well, first I kick you three times, and then you kick me three times, and so on, back and forth, 'till someone gives." The attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local custom. The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and ambled up to the city feller. His first kick planted the toe of his heavy work boot into the lawyer's shins, causing him to hop on one foot. His second kick knocked the man right off his feet. With the lawyer flat on his back, the farmer's third kick caused him to see stars. The lawyer summoned every bit of his will, managed to get to his feet, and said, "Okay, you old coot! Now it's my turn!" The old farmer smiled and said, "I give up. You can have the duck!"
  2. A wealthy art collector’s lawyer said "Saul, I have some good news and I have some bad news." The art collector replied, "You know, I've had an awful day, Jack, so let's hear the good news first." The lawyer said, "Well, I met with your wife today, and she informed me that she has invested only $5,000 in two very nice pictures that she thinks will bring somewhere between $15 and $20 million ... and I think she could be right." Saul replied enthusiastically, "Holy cow! Well done! My wife is a brilliant businesswoman, isn't she? You've just made my day. Now, I know I can handle the bad news. What is it?" The lawyer replied, "The pictures are of you and your secretary"
  3. ……ice cream brain freeze I still don't get it. 😆
  4. Not guilty, I was framed, I'm the victim. You need one more to make it a whole set. I have a Pioneer TX9100 tuner in a Walnut case. Pay the shipping and it's yours.
  5. In that case, I've not listened to the Khorns for a while, so they can go, and a pair of Mahogany KLF30 are not being used (the Mahogany makes them sound better), a pair of Heresy II and since you're bringing a trailer, you get two pair of KP362. How are you on amps? 😁
  6. What about the LaScala before 1980? nope ? 🤪
  7. Yeah, that's why I linked that one. I was headed out and didn't have time to read it all. I did that trick on the second pair of Chorus II that I owned. The speakers came with one PR that was stripped of any of the paper cone and a water ring on top so bad that the Walnut veneer bubbled. In that condition, I traded them for some Polk SDA SRS.
  8. Right now, I have 2 pairs that are totally stock, and have never felt a need to change anything about them. I am only using one pair and haven't listened to the others for a few years. That's why I am telling you to bring a truck when you come here to pick up your KP362, 301, 465, and whatever will fit.
  9. And a thread that also has another thread about using the PR from a Forte III.
  10. This is on the forum we are not allowed to talk about Hey there: I am the guy who started this modification idea for Klipsch with passive radiators. This is how passive radiators are tuned you vary the weight up or down to set the desired resonant frequency up or down. This is exactly the same as changing the length of a reflex vent longer or shorter which shifts the tuning frequency. So if you have a set of Chorus which have baffle thickness length vents (3/4") you can lower the system tuning by installing 7" vent tubes. With a pre existing factory passive you need to be mindful of the peak to peak travel capacity of the PRU (passive radiator unit). That is why I limit the weight to 2.5 ounces. What re tuning does is just that you are setting a new and in this case a lower system resonant point for the loudspeaker. Result is deeper (lower frequency) bass extension. This is not a magic knob you turn and magically the bass lowers there is not unlimited range available. Both the woofer and the existing passive must be considered as they set the limits of what you can and cannot do. In the case of the Quartet, Forte, Forte ll (larger passive) and Chorus ll I chose to limit the added weight to a 2.5 ounces. This shift in weight results in a marked improvement in bass extension with no noticeable evidence of the passive being over driven at any levels that I have played at. Why don't you invest the short amount of time necessary and install some weights and listen for yourself. This mod can be done in less than an hours time and the cost is not a factor. Decide for yourself if you like the change or not the mod is just as easy to reverse should you change your mind or simply want to return the speaker back to a stock factory tuning. The question here is not whether or not the mod works because this is a simple mechanical adjustment the question is do you like your speaker balance with or without the change and you are the one who must determine that yourself. moray james.
  11. A quick google search found this about the Forte and Chorus pr.
  12. Don't you have a damaged one for practice? It's been a minute or 20 years since I repaired a cone. several people have posted about how they went about it. I hate to admit it, but I was in a similar situation and, to use as a get-by, I made a ~ 15" plywood plate and ported it 4" dia. Desperate times called for desperate actions. 😬 I understand. Hang tough.
  13. Hi carlj11, welcome to the forum. The seller of these hasn't been back for about a month. It might be best if you start a new 'WTB' thread of your own. There might be others interested in selling what they, but don't want to cut in someone else's FS thread. The Chorus are chest pounders. Good luck
  14. Great job. Sorry that there is no one here to respond to your question. Looks like you figured it out. I'm sure that you'll share what difference you hear.
  15. It seemed to have covered everything except audio addiction
  16. FYI, I am using the black background and can not see the description without highlighting it. Up for sale I have a JTR Orbit Shifter LFU Horn Subwoofer in great condition. Unit works perfectly and has no issues. This is one of the more extreme subwoofers you can get for a home. This is NOT the pro model that cuts off response in the high 30s. This will dig well below 20 hz in room. If you aren't familiar with this sub, EACH these will arguably best most pairs of DUAL 18" ported subs with far better SQ and attack of a Horn sub. The Orbit Shifter LFU is a folder horn subwoofer loaded with a 18′′ driver and a 4000 watt amplifier that has been digitally optimized for the smoothest frequency response and highest possible output with minimal distortion. Specifications: Frequency 1/- 3db 22-125hz (useful output below 10hz in room) Amplifier 4000 watt RMS, 7200 watt burst Dimensions 50” x 22” x 36” (HxWxD) Weight 225lbs Construction 15mm, 11ply, void free, Baltic Birch several times stronger and more expensive than MDF) Exterior Finish Matte black paint Connections XLR and RCA Features: • All new cabinet for increased output, lower distortion and smoother response • 18″ subwoofer driver with 33mm xmax each way , +4″ peak to peak • Driver’s motor strength of 256 (bl^2/re). • 14 foot long folded horn • Heavily braced cabinet • Huge horn throat for minimal turbulence and compression • Completely front firing for versatility • 4000 watt RMS, 7200 watt burst amplifier • NEW Features include RCA connectors, 12v trigger, auto turn on, adjustable delay, low end, and low pass filter MASSIVE 18 INCH WOOFER
  17. I had been gone for a while and didn't know that he had left. Where did he go?
  18. Hi Robert, I have had the Hersy 1 and I still have the H2. Everything I have read says the H3 is a real improvement on the H2, and the H4 is a lot better than the H3. I have not AB the Heresy IV to the competition on paper or with my ears. The Klipsch warranty and selection of wood finishes are attractive. If you get a chance, look at the quality of the veneers. I have been very impressed with the quality and pattern selection of the Klipsch speaker cabinets. (side note: I have some experience in the veneer industry. Where I worked, they only buy extreme northern timber because of the better quality logs due to slow growth in harsher environments.) Everyone likes the new ported cabinets and other parts of the Heresy IV.
