Try running one or more of the audio testing youtube videos I posted just today. tells you a lot of what your speakers can reproduce. Also are you running original crossovers ?

Being an old hat to the world of Ham and the likes, second wife with 10 year old stepson, figured id set him up with what I started playing with when young. His first CB radio, in LA Calif. Taught him everything I thought of over a few weeks, he had contacts all over, I stopped by his room every night, kinda just checkin up to make sure things are running right. went well for a few months, till on day I stopped out side his bedroom door and just listened, from what I heard some old guy was grooming him for a meet up! holy chit! WTF has the world come to? this was maybe 20+ years ago and I still freak out when thinking about what I was hearing. When the stepson came home from school the next day he ask me to take a look at his rig, somehow it fried. I think that is when I bought him an Atari .........

My center channel is mounted on its side and the Denon sets it to 40hz, while the other La Scalas are set to 60hz. The only other difference is the center is a Rodgers La Scala which has an identical crossover. I have not seen that kind of equipment since I was a youngin, except at the TRW swapmeet in ElSegundo. When I think back to the early days, I remember begging my dad for equipment not much different form this. Amazing what we could do in those days with an AirCap and a few tubes........

That is the truth. Love my 2A3 amps, and can't imagine tht even DXing would come close. My brother is a ham radio operator, and i've thought of it myself, but audio seems more satisfiying. I will figure out what cd/s i have on an amp(its been a while and kind of irritating although interesting, to hear ambient sounds)and report back. I love my sound room im listening in to be completely silent minus what i fill it with. Interesting you hear this even on/with bluetooth and iphone...mp3? Im strictly cds. My 15year old and my ex wife taught me all i know about iphone music ands not much lol. I always lose quality when they give me burnt/ripped cd's. Yet some are actually better than others, burnt/ripped of course interesting you pull in sounds from greenland on them ham radios In 40 + years most when I was younger, I learned to say hello and good will in 20 different toungs. had a world map with so many pushpins in it, you could not see the map. My dad got me a CB radio when it was only 3 channels, I built more power, bigger antennas and still wanted MORE. no matter what I had or could talk to, it was never enough. Kind of sounds like this little hobby we have here eh?

You may have serious problems , your 70w tube amp should not blow a 5amp fuse? K43 is good to 200W. The woofer fuse is/was 3amps? Believe it or not it was a 2 amp, never looked at them, the Crites Crossovers don't look like the scematic listed anymore. These should be fine both speakers are working fine, it's the amp I need to break into here in a wile.

No kidding guy's, I took the wife to an Audiofile store sat her down and ask the guy to give her some quality music, Spoiled in 0.3 seconds. Told her id be happy to put a system together in the living room just for her, Corus2s, mono blocks and a nice tube preamp, fed by optic cable from the dining room PC. she was happy, meanwile my evil mind keeping me awake at night wondering just how big of speakers will fit in the Mancave. Won a bid on Ebay, and simply ask her if she would like a 'road trip' what girl wouldn't? So were are we going mark? Bandon Oregon, hell ya crab dinners and LaScallas waiting!!!!! Spoil the lil woman and you'd be surprised what system you end up with.

I always ask the seller to supply the list, then have a beer and compare. start with the cheap one, work your way up till you find one that meets your needs, one thing I do is if its a small tube, I just buy 6 or 8, if I suspect its bad chuck it.

Pick up the LaScallas if you should come across them in the neighborhood of $650, they are out there, refurb them and upgrade the crossovers and WhaaLaa, worth $1200 Min. for life.

I lost a fuse the other night in my right side wile breaking in the new Crites crossovers, pulled the amp and put it on the bench, have not looked at it yet, at least three more Guinness's before I look inside. Meanwile I Barrowed the wife's mono blocks and made sure of good 5amp fuses in the LaScallas.

Look at the way I did, YOUR tube types, not 65 sockets you will never use. hickok is a great test unit. $300 to $450 tops, Ebay .

I keep it simple and reasonable, upgrading to blue Jeans sometime back removed static, all cross feed. just about ready to order a couple more in fact. I went with them because of the double Braid, cannot beat that for the money.
