  1. Hey, Ear, Agree. And thanks for knowing it is "Mae" and not "May". She certainly did decorate that set, and looked very good around "the fancy eatin' table", or "rasslin'", or whatever! At one time, and maybe yet still, the show about Granny and "The Giant Jackrabbit" may have been the single most-watched comedy show of all time. Anybody remember more precisely?
  2. Yup! No doubt about it: idiocy sells (the roles and actors, not the movie). "Normalcy" parading as 40+ year old males with the mental maturity of their 10 year old trapped inside. Sorry. Am old enough to remember when "to aspire" meant an upward vertical hope/expectation/movement, not to delve into idiocy or gang-style behavior.
  3. What fun: great speaker, great condition and beautiful, and great price. Klipsch heaven!
  4. Kowalski, welcome. Have you heard 4.2s previously? While far from an expert, I really love the sound of mine. Hope you really enjoy yours!
  5. T2K, "I just want a decent TV with a decent picture to watch Alabama beat Mizzou . . . " Don't want to distract from the question you asked, however, re the above: Probably will happen Should be a wonderful game Have been an Alabama fan since the mid-60s (even out in CA, where the then PAC-10 was all they knew. Had no idea about "the Bear" and what houndstooth looked like). My roots all in SC, GA, VA. So, is really hard for me as I always root for the SEC team(s) that might have legitimate national or top-10 aspirations. When Mizzou is playing one of them (I have been in the St. Louis area for 40 years, and I must say that it is a wonderful place to live), it is a real struggle, esp as Mizzou is now SEC Eastern Division (champ, again). So, the more SEC teams at the top, the better I like it!
  6. VT, welcome back to MO (am a little bit west of STL, myself). Anyway, have no idea if anything like this (below) might be of interest to you, but if you may be in the mood for just a little drive in the country (no affiliation) . . . . http://springfield.craigslist.org/ele/4791290093.html
  7. Yup, I was using a pair of KG4.2s in my home office, too, until I recently acquired a pair of KLF-10s. I love (present tense) the sound of my KGs, but maybe it is because I do not know all that I am supposed to, or something. I have 3 pair of the KG series speakers in my living room, 2 pair KG4, one pair KG3.2, in a 6.1 surround setup. Paid aprox $100-150 per pair. Heresys would sound better, but one pair of Heresy would cost as much or more than all my KGs. The KG speakers sound fantastic for the money. As always, there is something better. Yes, Tromprof, not that the KGs are the only answer, or even the "right" answer. The good news is that if one is patient and reasonably open, some wonderful answers will present themselves (especially in the "previously-enjoyed" category), at very agreeable prices, too!

  9. OP mentioned that he has had KGs in the past. No one has recommended any KG speaker as a possibility. Would really like to understand the experience/differences that lean recommendations away from them as a possible solution. Something about the sound (I have a couple of 4.2s. Do all the KGs have a "common" sound, despite the version) that rules them out? Thanks for the input.
  10. Aren’t those old “stereos” from the 60s and 70s grand? Beautiful to behold. I remember back in 1970-71, as a young Naval officer finishing up 10 mos aboard ship in the Med. Amphibious ships in the squadron, carrying Marines for potential duty in any kind of landing or other action. Anyway, we had a 1st LT Marine officer from Brooklyn. Very Italian last name, and 2nd generation upbringing from his Italian father. We did the usual things of buying all the stereo receivers, tape decks, turntables, speakers (and booze) that was priced very right. He made his audio purchases, and we were talking about them in the wardroom over lunch one day. I can still hear the man (we changed/shortened the last name to “Cockroach”) saying, “But, I can already hear what my Pop is gonna say . . . you already got a Victrola!”.
  11. Schu, not that it really matters, but I've had mine about 4 years. I THINK that the MSRP was originally over $2,000. Not 100% certain, though.
  12. Hey, Opus, this is the receiver that I have. Love it!
  13. I've found that vacuum cleaner bags usually are a big hit. . . .
  14. Bill, Ditto!! Traveled to Savannah and Charleston in early Sept. 2013. Could not have been more perfect in terms of weather, beach, sights, and enjoyment (wife and I). While I have settled in the Midwest (St. Louis area), my (parental) roots are from SC and GA. Actually, was a '68 grad of USC (the real one, in Columbia, ha ha). Anyway, not to detract from/change the nature of the thread, just want to express my admiration also of those two splendid cities!
  15. Now that this issue seems to be resolved . . . TNR, I quote from your posting, "I have log walls and a high vaulted ceiling." Well, I have the high vaulted ceiling part, it is the log walls that I would love to have! You would think it possible, in this state of Dan'l Boone and the start of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, wouldn't you?
  16. Hoenig, you might ask Opusk2k9. He has and has had BOTH.
  17. Flame, Congratulations! Glad that you are finding a way, rather than making excuses. My son got his BA in Accounting from Maryville. Hey, we'll have to have a cup of coffee or something when you get here!
  18. Gorm, Congrats on sale. Was just through Amana (coming from the St. Louis area) last week, driving to Minneapolis to purchase some KLF 10s, a KLF-C7, and an LT-10 sub. They moved some roads on me in Des Moines at about 2AM, in the dark . . . .
  19. Hi, Flame, What will be bringing you to St. Louis? I am 30 miles due west of downtown STL. . . .
  20. Matt, Have you seen the CL listing below? They have been listed a while, so maybe the seller will be "flexible" on the pricing issue. Lemme know if you pursue/have good luck! http://wichita.craigslist.org/ele/4701090207.html
  21. Mystery, dunno. Not meaning to avoid your question, but: I LOVE all three--their size (of sound), richness, fullness, effortless clarity and power The 30s and 20s are 3-way, the 10s are 2-way The 10s go the lowest (32Hz) Evidently, my ears may not be all that discerning . . . .
  22. Can't believe that no one has said anything, or better yet, done anything about these speakers! While I've never heard them, just listening to my KLF 30s, 20s, and 10s gives me an idea what they sound like, and they must be wonderful. I jumped in the car last week to snag a pair of 10s, plus a C7 center, and an LT-10 sub. 1100 miles round trip. Worth every bit of the effort. Hope someone gets those CF-3s--at a great price!
  23. Hi, gt4play, As McMiRA pointed out, with the KM6 components being the same as the KG 5.5, I would think that it has great sound! And many people are not looking to blast a WalMart parking lot with sound, ha ha. Re your mention of the KV-4 center, I do have one, and I think it sounds splendid! But you already know that.
  24. Say, do you remember that wonderful Iams dog food commercial (probably 20-25 years ago), with the Irish Setter? Think the dog was named "Casey". Anyway the commercial starts out with a young girl (maybe 12), and her pup. She is running up a long set of outdoor steps at a beach house, and encourages Casey to follow, as best as his short little legs, and inexperience, will permit. Of course, she gets to the top long before he does. Then, the next scene shows her trailing him (now in his prime), as he races to the top ahead of her. And finally, she is a young woman, and she again is faster up the steps now than an ageing Casey, grey muzzle, but still game. What a great commercial. Treated all (participants, viewers, and product) with dignity and respect.
