  1. Does your CD player have a digital output and does your Rotel have a digital input? If yes, I would try that connection first.
  2. It would be interesting to learn what you think of the sound with them spread across the front, and a picture of how that looks. I know it is not easy to move those massive cabinets, but we are cheering you on.
  3. Have you done what I believe is called "the sub crawl", with a subwoofer placed at the main listening position and playing tones as you walk around the room to find the strongest response?
  4. It has been a couple years since I used a DCX, but as I recall, the microphone is placed in front of one loudspeaker and the ping is sent to the woofer, squawker and tweeter and the arrival time is calculated for the two delayed drivers. Be sure that only one loudspeaker is playing, but do LINK the crossover settings to both left and right channels. Do you have a mic and XLR cable so you can experiment? Parts Express has the EMM-6 #390-801 that should be compatible with the DCX.
  5. That unit has an Auto Align function. Plug a mic into input C, select Auto Align, short delay. Make sure to mute the speaker that is not being measured. STORE the settings any time an adjustment is performed. Details are on page 9 of the owners manual. I also would like to know, what is the industry standard for tweeter protection within a self-powered loudspeaker system? I don't have any capacitors between my amplifiers and tweeters. My wires are color coded and clearly labeled, so there has not been a problem.
  6. The auto-EQ systems are probably designed more for simple, average home theater set-ups. It seems to work good on several systems I have listened to. So, back to minimum phase, is there an off the shelf Klipsch model that is an example of a minimum phase speaker?
  7. You are talking about measurements in the process of adjusting and optimizing one individual speaker using REW, correct? Measurement instructions for Audyssey, MCACC, YPAO, etc. suggest the first measurement be taken at the main listening position and the following measurements in the listening area.
  8. I use a 3 pin 50' long DMX cable for my room response measurement microphone. Would work for interconnecting amps also, but XLR cables can not be used for DMX (stage lighting control) applications.
  9. I have some unused 802-8G drivers I should try. One fault with this driver design is the glue on the "Tangerine" phase plug can get brittle and lose adhesion, allowing the phase plug to make contact with the diaphragm, creating a crackling buzz at high SPL leading one to think the driver is blown. New glue on the phase plug fixes that problem.
  10. I have not reached near my limit because I resize my pics to 100K or less before attaching, but I agree that there should be an easier method to delete a group of attachments. Maybe a SELECT check box column on the attachments pages.
  11. My center channel speaker has a large cabinet with an easy to swap 48" X 18" face panel sitting over a La Scala bass bin, so I can trade out different horns and drivers by removing four screws and two wires.
  12. The 2" Radian 651 used in a two-way system, crossover at 500 Hz, 24 db/oct. appears to need some upper high frequency boost. If you have an active crossover or an EQ, and REW or RTA for measuring your settings, then it may work for you. But with a passive network and no EQ, the 651 would probably be better as a midrange driver with a separate tweeter.
  13. I read here on the forum over the years that several members are using the Faital Pro HF 200 with its factory spec'd 900 Hz minimum crossover frequency, installed in speakers with passive (and active) networks with lower crossover points. I have not seen where anybody has questioned or critiqued those applications.
  14. The inexpensive little saw did exactly what I wanted it to do.
  15. It is good to know that you are enjoying your tri-amped Klipschorns. I am thankful that Chris A has provided information and guidance to us and all the bi-amp Jubilee owners who are also enjoying the full performance from their systems.
  16. That power amp looks amazing.
  17. Very good. I suggest practicing on some scrap boards, so you get familiar with the plunge release trigger. Also, extend your pencil mark way out beyond the cut line, so you can use the laser guide until the end of your cut.
  18. With your woodworking skills, I think you should build a subwoofer and finish it in mahogany.
  19. It is good when all the components of a system match up, allowing equipment to function at full potential. I use XLR cables on my home theater/stereo.
  20. I do listen to amplified live music a couple nights a week, and have grown to be tolerant of variations and distractions so that I can enjoy the overall experience. As for my home system, the tri-amped Klipschorns have been a pleasure to live with.
  21. "If you're using a ported box, you already have audible group delay growth at low frequencies, so adding more with a preamp high pass filter probably won't be any more audible..." The above quoted comment from another thread has me wondering if I have audible group delay growth due to my filters? I don't notice any when listening to my home system.
