  1. That is awesome, can't wait to see the final product! I love my custom 335's and 325's. not sure I could easily go back to "home" speakers after having these.
  2. Placement sounds about spot on with my experiences any closer to the corners and bass gets stronger but the soundstage seems to collapse Tweeters should make quite a bit of a difference but these speakers are high sensitivity so good source will result in good sound not sure what gear you're running but that can make a huge difference if playing digital files or streaming I'd recommend something with a newer / good DAC or decent stand alone DAC.
  3. Cap choices have been debated here for decades (subjective sound qualities) now the only "approved" choice on this forum is JEM, which if staying true to factory spec is your goal it's really the only choice. As far as the tweeters I've tried them all seriously doubt you'd be be able to tell a difference between the ones you bought and factory but it is nice to stay with OEM when you can.
  4. Tweeters are typically the first thing to go when the volume is pushed too high I've had to replace several pairs of them over the years back in my party days, Had a friend with CH-II's out in his garage with Carver A-760x (380x2) and had to replace his a couple times. I've bought and sold dozens of Klipsch speakers over the years with that tweeter type and never once seen a faulty crossover be the cause of a bad tweeter, not saying it couldn't happen just based on my experiences probably not. Another option would be to do the re-cap first and let them settle in for a few days, get used to the sound that way then replace the diaphragms but then you wouldn't know how they would sound with the factory crossovers.
  5. You should swap the diaphragms first maybe give them a couple days before replacing the caps that way you know what change you're hearing.
  6. Good morning and congrats on the new Quartets! It wasn't that long ago TI tweeters were pretty much the norm around here wherever they were sourced from and Klipsch has used them in their extended Heritage line for almost 15 years or so. As part of my refresh efforts when buying these speakers that was one of the first things I'd do is swap these old tweeter Diaphragms out. As far as parts sources goes Speaker exchange and Simply Speakers are good resources they have a lot of factory parts: https://www.simplyspeakers.com/klipsch-replacement-speaker-diaphragm-k75-d-417.html?redirect=1
  7. Very nice 5.1 setup for less than a new pair of RF-7 III's would take quite a bit of cash to replace it all good luck with your sale!
  8. Nice job they look great had a pair of these for awhile not bad especially at typical cheaper bookshelf prices they sell for.
  9. Yup, you'd need the k-700 metal horn and E-2 crossover to get best results I believe. My advice, keep your current LCR's and offer the 1.5's back to the seller if he doesn't want them then, well, he did sell them in the first place right? At least you'll have given him the chance to rehome them.
  10. They're basically the same horn only the 603 is slightly larger at approx. 13x9 I believe the 703 is around 11x7? Both are threaded inserts the F-III driver will screw onto the 603 no problem but not sure there's enough room on the F-II for the larger horn without some modifications to the cabinet.
  11. Found this article: https://www.thehifiguide.com/klipsch-rp-600m-vs-rp-160m/ "If you can afford the Klipsch RP-600M, I would recommend you choose that as the vented tweeter design reduces harshness and allows more detail to get through. It also has better bass so if you aren’t including a subwoofer in your budget this is something to consider. There is a reason the RP-600M is the updated version of the 160M after all."
  12. Bumpity for the weekend with price drop these are rare as most know price is obo thanks.
  13. Not that I can see are you seeing the badges? Listing states "original" I suspect that if one were to spend $400+ on new tweeters they'd advertise the fact but I don't know for sure.
  14. You know my current space is 14x18 and I was pretty shocked at how well the little RP-160m's filled that space there seemed to be a bit of a gap in the mids that really wasn't that noticeable unless compared directly to my main speakers but overall for the size and price I consider them a huge bargain. Their performance actually peaked my interest in the forte IV again if these newer little guys can sound so good can only imagine how good the bigger line up sounds.
  15. Man it is amazing how many people are impacted by this terrible disease I wish for the best outcome for all dealing with it in one way or another. I was just officially diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma at age 46 March 3rd and started treatment last week after an emergency back surgery on March 21st. I've been dealing with debilitating back pain since Dec '21, got better and I went back to work only to have my L2 vertebrae collapse end of July '22. They treated it like a simple compression fracture said surgery was optional seemed stable but by the end of Jan '23 it "pancaked" and the radiologist suspected it was a pathological fracture. Several tests later turns out I have a handful of lesions ribs sternum and spine started chemo last Tuesday so far no bad reactions except insomnia from the steroids' but its early on yet. Dr seems confident with my relatively young age and good health I should be able to get this into remission quickly. On the upside its been 5 weeks since my surgery and my back feels great, been off all pain meds including Tylenol for a few days now first time in almost a year and a half and able to walk quite comfortably 4-5 miles a day. As long as the chemo works and doesn't kick my butt too bad should be able to go back to work mid June. Being diagnosed certainly changed my outlook on life amazing how many things seem trivial now and not worth the energy while other things become more important. None of us escape this place alive and could pass at any moment for any number of reasons but being labeled "terminal," well its like seeing the light already off in the distance luckily for now I'm in good health and it seems far away but its there.
  16. Last I heard I believe it was going to retail for $3k production has been delayed until the end of the year though. This will include an APP for basic remote features. Looks interesting I'm sure it will sound fantastic.
  17. Wow pretty low key system RP-600's with a Decware amp? I know the 160m's sound pretty good never heard the newer ones.

I have found the mid output to be just too high in these speakers dialing them back 2db really helps balance them out for comparison the forte II has a sensitivity of 99db with the same mid dialed back via crossover 10db, the CH-II has a sensitivity of 101db but the same mid is only dialed back 6db per crossover specs I believe this is why many prefer the forte sound over the Chorus but of course there is always the standard variables like rooms and equipment matching, listening habits and what not. It may be that you would enjoy the fortes if you move these and a pair becomes available for a reasonable price.
  19. The veneer is very thin if you sand too far you'll lose the wood grain and end up with smooth spots.

I always thought the tweeters were smoother at higher volumes but the crossovers with Sonicaps tend to be very bright and fatiguing at higher levels which is a shame because they sound great at low volumes with lots of detail.

Those appear to be in really nice shape they should sell quickly- can I ask what you replaced them with?
  22. These showed up on eBay not long ago: https://www.ebay.com/itm/404240086961?hash=item5e1e9637b1:g:C2QAAOSw2AVkNG6x&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4MubXB6NJYjtpld3%2BYV7OW5ljrmNQLBxZfWC0DiSNGZMy83x%2FbOGwre5reuEtCJqpj1Owg7mQDV4imp1y3fM9n6aVlXqRhSF5LwVWGxlHGodo6QLXd%2F5Qc%2F7W3dZYGvTRSg6KxmrElSktPr62xOBt7rOrIV41txU%2Bnk6XDfv5s5BzfZ6RfalrM6ioYAKZN2Bl7Pu7yA8OCr6UwHz8CAW2fxFfYs%2B3sqnc%2F2uD3tSHfbpkpq2T1VeJgXie%2Bd%2Bqn0AU0j4PTg7o8dp6kI1jWFcWRdHMr%2FSHtLHn3D5lEYKiMBc|tkp%3ABk9SR8LJ57n0YQ You are absolutely right in securing spare parts if I owned a pair of these speakers I'd pick up what I could when available you just never know what might happen.
  23. I bought a pair of 81's brand new some years back for a bedroom system they sounded pretty good. Came across a deal on a pair of 75's and thought what the heck I'll try them out. Long story short the 81's went up for sale after just a few hours with the 75's. If you're looking for a "big" sound hard to beat the 75's. They are a little "mid" centric and benefit from a sub but lots of variables there, might have just been my room at the time. I had the P-17's, they sound very nice and clean but absolutely needed a sub, very thin sounding without one.
