I took care of one cabinet today, removed the horn drivers, cleaned the horns, deoxed the terminal strip. Are these the midrange drivers that are sought after? Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

They work great, one fuse needs to be replaced. But we swapped a fuse from another to make sure everything was good. After I clean them, I need to figure out what/if I am going to do anything with the crossovers. 1 or 3 will be for sale semi quickly. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

Also, any suggestions on cleaning the horns? Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

I picked up a set of 5 1980 industrial La Scalas with enclosed backs that have been hanging by chains in a family fun center for 20-40 years. I've cleaned over a decade off. I am using microfiber cloths and Fantastic cleaning spray on the cloth to clean the cabinets. Just curious if anyone had any suggestions, especially in the dog house opening in the front. Thanks

Thank you so much!

They came out of a family fun center that went out of business. They were hanging by chains from the ceiling for roughly 30 years. They need to be thoroughly cleaned first. We are listening to them now in the garage. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk

5.1 setup with KG2.5 - is KV2 a bad option for center channel?
dtr20 replied to MisterStrickland's topic in Home Theater
You want a microphone that is made for your receiver. Something like this Look at this on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Audyssey-ACM1H-Calibration-Microphone-For-Denon-Onkyo-Receivers-/294358862575?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0- 8 replies

Without a doubt, the kg2.5 speakers need a subwoofer, especially for home theater. If you can find a microphone, I think it would be worth it. Where are you located?- 8 replies

The KV2 isn't the greatest center they make, but I really don't think it should sound worse than no center at all when combined with kg2.5 speakers. I'm guessing settings in the receiver? What receiver are you using? If it's a modern receiver, did it come with a microphone to do a room calibration? If so, did you use it?- 8 replies

Glueing original cane fabric onto grill panels
dtr20 replied to dtr20's topic in Technical/Restorations
See pictures below Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
Does anyone have any tips on glueing the original cane fabric onto grill panels for a pair of heresies? The speakers were beat to hell when I got them. The fabric came off easily and I was able to hand wash the fabric in the tub. The creases are still in the fabric so lining them up should be relatively easy. I was thinking about using speaker woofer surround glue (comes with woofer foam surround repair kits). Any thoughts?

Random thought, not sure if this had been brought up before. Could you just add quarter inch plywood on the sides, top, and bottom of the cabinets? This could be essentially reveneering the speakers while adding rigidity. If you miter the corners, this could look great with edge banding, just need to figure out the front.

@chad I cannot create a new topic or reply to an existing topic. I am not sure if this is since the upgrade last week or something else. I do most forum browsing from my Samsung phone, using Chrome for a browser. I've cleared the cache in the browser. I've even tried using my wife's phone to see if I get the same results, which I did. When try to start a new topic, I can input the subject, tags, but cannot input to the actual topic. I just get a thin bar shown in the screenshot below. Also, I can't select the hamburger menu at the top right of the pages. Sent from my SM-G781V using Tapatalk -
Yes, crossovers definitely need to be updated on occasionally. The capacitors get out of spec and should be replaced after 20 ish years. That being said, in my experience, vintage Klipsch doesn't shine in surround sound as much as they do in a true stereo setup. If you have any true stereo receiver, it would be worth hooking up the khorns to it to see if the sound quality increases. Where are you located? There might be a forum member around who could try to help.

I can't say whether or not it is an upgrade over the emotiva speakers, but they are good speakers. I feel like they are priced high, but Klipsch prices on the used market has sky rocketed in the past year, so I just don't know. They are a 2-way speaker. With a tweeter diaphragm upgrade from Crites, they sound better (IMO). The bigger brothers KLF20 & KLF30 sound much better since they are a 3-way design, but the KLF10s have really good bass. Ultimately, its up to you whether or not it is an upgrade. You could always try to resell them if you are not impressed after listening to them for awhile. Just make sure you listen to them before buying to make sure all is well, drivers and cabinets. Some of the KLF cabinets had issues with the front and rear panels coming unglued. If you are handy, its not a hard process, just time consuming. The easiest way to notice the issue is to play something with a bunch of bass, you will usually notice cabinet rattling noises.

For best placement, they should be in the corners of a same wall, the use the walls as part of the speaker for the bass.

The 87 in the beginning of the serial number is the year built. The value depends on condition, both cosmetic and function, and location. I'd say a rough ballpark value would be $1500-3500

Wrath of Man with Jason Statham. Very dark movie, with good lfe

I have heard some great luxman tube integrateds on some Klipsch gear recently, if you are looking for new.

Looks like they are built in 1987

Thanks. Did you notice any improvement over the old cable or did you replace too much at once to know what made what differernces?
