  1. Just one? AC/DC-Black in Black Trans Siberian Orchestra-Christmass Eve Sarajevo Megadeth-Train of Consequences Van Halen-You Really Got Me Anthrax-Hy Pro Glo Audioslave-Cochise I'll stop for now
  2. agreed. bi wiring is no different than using the jumpers that come on the speakers.
  3. Yes sir Indy we are on the same page. I believe Dolby and DTS will go in the direction of higher bitrates. Or even better lossless. Blu ray will definatly have the capacity for it.
  4. Amp wise I would say Sunfire, B&K, and Rotel. As for a pro/pro that would depend on if you want an actual pre/pro or a mid to upper level receiver. Even though the technology rapidly changes I don't think we'll see another sound format change for home use any time soon. Dolby, DTS, and THX have to realize that the average home will not fit more than 7 speakers and a sub. The majority of homes with surround sound only haveing 5 speakers and a sub. The HVD disc may not even be used for home entertainment purposes. It could just be used for computers.
  5. check audigon, and Harmon Kardon has an ebay store. www.jr.com always has good prices, especially when they are closing out models. JR also sells factory refurbs sometimes.
  6. I again am going to reccomend seperates. For the price of the 5805 your in the budget range of seperates. This will give you more upgrade flexibility and better amplification. You can either upgrade your pre/pro every so many years. Or get something that is factory upgraded like a B&K. The amps will stay with you for a long time with no need of change.
  7. another great actor in some classic roles gone. R.I.P.
  8. what about just a seperate amp with your receiver as a pre/pro. Some good used amps can be found on audiogon.
  9. I've never heard them but they are Klipsch so they'll sound good. But nowhere near as good as Lascallas. I have a feeling you'll hate yourself if do this. I'd reason with wife and tell her this is just one of those husband/wife compromises. I have a RF7 system with RF3-IIs for back surrounds. While my wife could do without all of these big speakers she doesn't say a word and enjoys them when we watch movies.
  10. At this point the 5805 will be outdated in a year. I advise you to wait. The new formats are due out this year. For the cost of that thing if I were you I would go seperates. Or at least seperate amp with mid to upper level receiver like the Yamaha 4600, Pioneer 56Txi, or Denon 3806 as a pre/pro.
  11. Ahh the VW comercials. Those are hilarious. Cracks me up everytime they come on TV.
  12. There are also several digital music servers on the market, including one from McIntosh.
  13. Apple has a lossless encoding that does sound as good as CDs. But it decreases the amount of CDs you can fit onto the ipod.
  14. The newer Yamaha receivers have a smoother sound with Klipsch than the older gear
  15. And it is being said on a lot of movie sites that Thomas Haaden Church will play Venom
  16. RIP Don Knotts was one of the best. Circuit City carries the Incredible Mr. Limpett for $9.99
  17. what is your budget? and remember any receiver with a vcr input also has an output. So it's still a real tape loop, just labeled vcr.[] check out the Yamahas and Denons
  18. If only you were closer to the East coast or the midwest
  19. The newer Yamaha receivers sound great with Klipsch speakers starting at the 57** series. You can get the 5890 at a great price from www.jr.com right now. I have a Yamha RX-V4600 with a RF7 system and I love it. But in the end only your ears can judge if you'll like it. But most places that carry the 5990 have very good return policies.
  20. Get the F3 system. I have a RF7 system in a 15x15 room which is not a big room at all. And it sounds great. You don't need to worry as much about a small room until you get into the heritage line.
  21. Another option to consider is adding an outboard amp to your 3805. And down the road you could add a dedicated pre/pro after all of the new HD and sound formats are finalized. Most bang for your buck. For the price of a 4806 you can get a good amp. B&K and Sunfire are popular amp brands here.
  22. HDMI is not any better than component cables on a crt based TV
