  1. Thanks for checking back with us Terri. Hope you feel better, and I also hope you can find the loving home they deserve. I believe all of the people involved on this site are true audio enthusiasts and I think we all hope the speakers are enjoyed in their next home. Sorry to hear nobody in the family has room for them.
  2. Hopefully Terri and her mom get things figured out. I am sure there are plenty of people willing to take good care of those La Scalas. I am assuming they probably have a lot they are dealing with so I say be patient. If they decide to keep them or give them to someone they think are deserving then good for them. If they decide they want to sell them, good for whomever gets them.
  3. My suggestion is an Emotiva XPA-2. Gen 1 is fine. 250 wpc@8ohms and really sounds nice paired with Klipsch. You can find them used in the $450 range.
  4. http://emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/40753/pair-adcom-amps-channel-theater Someone on the Emotiva forum has some nice Adcom amps for sale. $400
  5. I suggest you call Emotiva and maybe talk to a tech there. I have talked with Damon a few times and he has been helpful.
  6. Sory if I jumped to the conclusion of estate sale jimjimbo. I put two and two together that it was her father's equipment and he has passed. The family has no room or need for the speakers and want to find out a fair value for them so they can sell them to a fan of said equipment. Sounded like an estate sale inquiry to me. My FIL just moved from Michigan to Florida and he had a house clearing sale. They had an estate sale company involved to find a fair market value for all of his goods that he was not willing to take with him and would no be sold with the house. This company advertised for him and got him excellent value for his goods. They sold everything from toasters to utensils to his Mitsubishi TV. He had a ten yr old Denon receiver with a 5.1 Paradigm surround set up and they got him nearly what he paid for it ten years ago. Some of the buyers are only interested because they think they are getting deals. They never really educate themselves of the value of the goods for themselves and pay what the asking prices are in many cases.
  7. I PM'd Terri and received word back that she has to talk with her mother and find out what fair value is for these, then they will decide what to do with them. From what I read originally it sounded like an estate type sale to get these monsters out of the house. I inquired on what they want for them as I am literally five miles from tham. After hearing back from Terri I am not so sure they are selling them at all.
  8. Hopefully you get the amp back in a timely manner and the repair was successful and easy on your wallet.
  9. I am thinking it may be just a relay switching issue Youthman. From your original post back in 2013 it seems to me that there is some sort of triggered relay that turns on each amp in succession. The fact that it was several channels out, now only one channel out again seems like it should be a reasonably simple and inexpensive fix. Sorry you had the issues in the first place and since I have a ton of Sherbourn and Emotiva products I had hoped they would have given you a better answer after contacting Emotiva. All of my questions and inquiries directed their way were handled promptly and accurately. I realize they never built or sold this amp to you, or even to the original owner but as a busines model I would have appreciated more direction for you. Please update us with the results when you get it back.
  10. I think back to the Audiovox purchase of Klipsch a few years back and wonder if we are in for yet more changes to come. From what I read the group is looking to infiltrate the likes of Walmart and such. Obviously if the selling prices will be lower then the quality may be lowered as well...leaving consumers with less desirable goods from this fine manufacturer. I sure hope this will not be the case. So far since they are keeping the lines of legacy equipment in place it seems like they still have quality as a top priority. I just hope this remains to be the case. I have been pretty disappointed with the new budget lines like the ones offered at Best Buy and such. These entry levels sound cheaper and more tinny than the lines they replaced.
  11. Hi Terri, sorry to hear about your dad. I am a neighbor of yours in Howell. Let me know what you want for these speakers and I may be able to get them sold for you.
  12. Glad to hear you are enjoying your new Emotiva XDA-2 DAC. I own four of them and they sound awesome. I am sure it will mesh perfectly with your new Fusion. I have read a lot of good reviews for that receiver and for the clear out pricing they offer it at now it is a no brainer..............enjoy!
  13. I enjoy listening to Pandora. While I work I have a genre of music to listen to for hours on end with limited interruptions. I only use the free version but between itunes radio and Pandora they satisfy my needs while I am working and don't want to take time away from what I am doing to switch discs or what have you. I agree however it is a shame that they won't support the musicians in a meaningful way. I beleive Canada discontinued these services because of lack of fairness.
  14. Coffee has to be ground fresh. Packaged coffee you find in a supermarket or what have you usually sits around for waaaaay too long. I have been roasting and flavoring coffee for years and I sell online with the same user name as seen here. I usually drink flavored coffee but when I want a treat, I go for Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. Definitely not a cheap choice. Almost strange the way it grinds up, light and fluffy... almost like a powder. Don't be fooled by the sellers claiming they have it. Only two authorized sellers in North America and they sell for over $30 a pound each. Even for myself that invests in bulk purchase of coffee, that seems very steep. I usually enjoy a pot Sunday morning with my wife and drink regular flavored coffees the rest of the week. I make a pot of flavored coffee in the morning and share it with my wife when she leaves for work. Then I take the remaining cup and add creamer and sugar....then set it in the fridge to enjoy early in the afternoon. Yummo!
  15. Nice to see they sold....I was having panic attacks as to where I could fit that set up!
  16. I own the KP-250's and they sound awesome. Much more detailed sound than my Heresy Gen 1's.
  17. Sorry about that. I now see the need!
  18. I am a huge Emotiva fan and from what I have seen the processors in the past have had glitches and some handshake issues. To the best of my knowledge I have not read anything negative from the XMC-1, although the Dirac is new and people are still trying to figure it out. Why would your brother be looking at two different pres? The XSP-1 is a balanced two channel pre and the XMC-1 is a 7.2 channel pre. Would you need both?....or were you considering only one or the other. As far as the amp goes, I think it is a great choice. I own almost a dozen of their amps and have really enjoyed the results.
  19. Glad to hear you enjoyed the Fusion 8100 Trenster. I used to own an RX-V2500 myself and just recently sold it. It served my purpose for quite a few years and never had any issues. I have three Sherbourn SR-120's and absolutely love their products. The SR-120 offers 7.1 with 125wpc across the front and 75wpc for the other four channels. I had HDMI handshake issues and various levels of audio drop out for a while until I upgraded to a new platform from my provider Comcast. The new cable boxes solved all of my issues. The receivers now sound fantastic and have no handshake or drop out issues at all. I have acquired a ton of Emotiva and Sherbourn products over the last few years and it would take a lot for me to leave this brand now. For TheIncredibleFaulk, I hope you can find a way to rid yourself of the problems you have encountered with the receiver. Nothing worse than investing in something and then being let down.
