  1. Re: The table in the picture What are we looking at exactly? I was cutting some aluminum parts when Matt took that photo. If I threw some sawdust on it, it would have looked more familiar to you.
  2. Yup, that oughta do it!
  3. was that tomorrow??? just kidding! see you in the am.
  4. I am going to Seattle in a couple weeks to visit my daughter and the EMP (museum) has a Jimi Hendrix exhibit/ show that we are going to. Heard it is bucket list material. I will get to check that one off.
  5. But you have to ask yourself if you sometimes listen to certain music or songs because they sound good on a good system. That is the only explanation I can come up with as to why you guys got busted in Hope last year while listening to a gawd awful song like Thriller at 5 am. I'm just saying......
  6. sounds fine to me. I will confirm when it gets a little closer.
  7. Bring the cabinet as is and the wood. We will make it happen. Looks like it is 1/4" layered on top of the 3/4". Might need to get two thicknesses of the plywood. The face of the motherboard is 1/4". Are you still going "grilless"?
  8. Does this mean my free lunch is off?? Don't go too crazy on the new cabinets. You don't want to have too much invested next time you make a switch. Never heard a bad thing about the Chorus but there is a limit to what you can expect for a return. But, you always have jweber if you go Mahogany! Good luck, sounds like a fun project.
  9. Full steam ahead, as usual. Good luck with the project.
  10. Oh, no you don't! I was looking to be helpful, not looking of a project. The rate you are fast cycling through speakers lately, building your own cabinets will slow you down and that is a good thing!!! I would actually be cutting on a 5' x 11' CNC router table, so any additional cuts or dados would not be a big deal.
  11. let me know the dimensions and I can cut the motherboards for you. Just the cost of the wood. (and a road trip to St. L) to pick up.
  12. If you were wanting to listen to music with the tv off, my offer still stands to test drive the KV-1. It is part of a Frankenstein HT set up. I have other centers I could plug in if you would want to keep it.
  13. I disagree with the whole "can we all agree" concept.
  14. Yeah, I am running an analog 2 channel pre and an old Yamaha 2-channel amp. Does not get much simpler than that. Have another Yamaha on stand-by if I decide to try this config. It would require me to pick up a pair of KLF-20's however. There is a pair in Olathe I have my eye on... Just got my Crites titanium diaphragms in the mail today for the 30's. Men, I just don't know what to do??? I think your best bet is to get a good set of La Scalla's with a couple good subs and......oh wait, nevermind!
  15. Matt, May be time to seek help, and I don't mean help finding more speakers!
  16. Jim, I have a KV-1 you can borrow to see if it works for you. Specs don't show it going to 50 hz but I have used it as stand alone and it was respectable. I also have a KSC C1 that is about the same size and specs claim it gets a little closer to 50 hz. I'm in St.L so if you want to try either or both let me know.
  17. Like most hobbies there is a vocal minority that take things to extremes and give everyone a bad name. There are stereo snobs, coffee snobs, scotch, cigars, cars, planes etc snobs out there. They always have perceived improvements that simple people like me cant hear or taste or feel....That is why there are $1000 audio cables or Kopi Luwak coffee etc. I am not into hi-fi, I consider myself a mid-fi guy. Like coffee, scotch and other items, when it comes to audio: the very top end stuff is wasted on me, but I know the bad stuff right away. If it makes me happy.... I'm going to drink my Quick Trip coffee listening to my Belle's (with cheap cables) and be happy as a clam. Cradledorf: GFY = Good For You???
  18. Derrick, if these subs don't do the trick for you, the only thing left will be a hearing test. I trust you have checked your homeowner's insurance for foundation repair. Good to see your photo and find out you don't look like your avatar, which quite frankly, creeps me out! Good luck with your project, sounds like you're having fun.

    SRV Tribute

Finally a topic everyone agrees on! Great thread, great tribute. I was able to crank several tunes before I called it a day last night and it was phenomenal. Great talent lost too soon.
  20. you could possibly incorporate "wavy" piano keys into the smoke coming out of the locomotive to connect the concept to the main theme of "boogie woogie" music.
  21. Great thread. Love to see someone living out their dream. Enjoy the journey. I also am fascinated with your passion for Boogie Woogie and it's ties to that area and the influences it has had on so many musical styles and artists. I think that is what will make your "museum' interesting for many. jimjimbo recommended a Marshall Tucker song for the "one song" suggestions for the Hope gathering.(Everyday I have the Blues). They introduce the song as a little "watermelon boogie woogie music". Just finished listening to it for the first time in several years! The influence is definitely there, just more with a guitar than piano. Still the best part is you are doing what you love, best of luck, but it doesn't sound like you will need luck.
  22. I think in 1966 the II was added to identify the vertical mid. Long before the Cornwall (version) II. Could be wrong
