  1. Buy a pair of used rp160s...i found mine under 300. Latest technology and easy to sell.
  2. Fuzzy i went outboard for L and R and it is better. I used an inuke because at 8ohms they have good response to 20khz....at 4ohms not as good. It makes a difference and i have a denon with tests that show it shouldnt.
  3. good job! theres no reward or bonus pts for having a low crossover. try everything from 60 to 120 and no bias. Rare inany room is 60hz a great crossover point. its very hard to get good response from mains below 80 or even100ime.
  4. i always appreciate derricks wisdom he has good advice if on wall look at rs42s or rs52s. small compact and excellent...mount flush to wall using keyhole bracket.
  5. If offended simply tell the person. if they dont care ignore them....if they do....discuss and work it out. do it privately if need be but surprise yourself how many friends are made out of working things out!
  6. A movie theater has massive damping that reduces reverb to inaudible in a loud theater. At home your room is small and has no damping. Audyssey outlines an area to optimize using the 8 positions and moreso than just flat response it reduces the amount of time each frequency lingers to as flat as possible. a few acoustic panels added to your room will have an equal if not greater effect as Audyssey...and they can be combined for a theater like experience.
  7. yes but if you are not restricted you should get 2 pb1000s....if too big 2 sb1000s will do great. you can get real edm and hip hop punch from 2 pb1000s. klipsch makes a fantastic r115sw but they are very big...too big. any sub is enough but 2 that can play 20hz w authority will be awesome.
  8. i had a surround come loose...pe had me get their black rubber cement. worked perfectly. surprised u havent done this more often....edge of tomorrow is like the universe big bang at your place
  9. bookshelves w sub night and day better not sure why everyone thinks 280s are it....they are huge and wont play ht low like an svs 280sHUGE no way imo!
  10. Congrats on retirement. Do what u like. turn up the sub gain a bit. tweeters pointing at your ears however you set them up. your midbass may be too strong on the floor...if not dont move them
  11. It does look ok. I think its overkill but few are ever chastized for that ☺
  12. Was my thinking too, it might look a bit odd (they are so big compared to the bookshelves) and also the AVR will probably calibrate them down anyway...I think all these centers have higher sensitivity than the 250C does, so it just comes down to how much it gets trimmed down....1db, 2db, or 3db I think.
  13. MLO will know best on this, but I believe they initially suggested monopoles but have since changed and spec'd that bipoles are fine too. You room is not even as wide as mine...trust me, I have a set of them as fronts (and several other monopoles from Klipsch as surrounds). The RP-160Ms are BIG. This will cause significant issues (imo) being able to be far enough away in any side seats I'll go measure right now how far off the wall my RP160Ms are, mounted on mounts...they are angled, short side is 12" from wall and long side is 15" from wall. They are REAR ported, making it a necessity to have them off the wall. My RS-52iis only need 8" from the wall and are side ported, allowing them to be mounted flush on the walls using the keyhole mount (and a snaptoggle, so those suckers don't fall off!) Setup and room issue is what I think you are describing. The speakers need to be a certain distance from many things...each other, walls, furniture, barriers. And then if the room is not symmetrical, one side can have more issues than the other. Treatment of a room is imo the most valuable thing one can do to their theater to upgrade. Right now, before you upgrade, if you go buy the DIY materials to build several bass traps and a few reflection panels, you may be blown away with the improvement. Especially with what you describe, I highly suggest you share your setup here (perhaps pictures?) as many including YOUTHMAN and Derrickdj have the RF7s and a huge amount of experience setting them up properly. That can be solved rather easily is my guess, and boy the improvement if you don't have a good sound stage! It can be as simple as the delays not being properly set, or much more complicated interaction between the speakers and the walls (very likely, you sit near some wall where you hear reflections)...back wall, side wall, just a guess. Room height is excellent for Atmos and listening in general as it will reduce or eliminate issues with the ceiling/floor.
  14. LOL was in a fun mood, not mad I've had a conversation with each of you at some point so hopefully it was clear I was having fun. As far as the subs, I can determine easily that unless there is some perfect room out there that I've never seen, a setup like this one will benefit the most from adding another sub....of course the suggestion of treatment is even better but only equally important. We've got some serious firepower here....massive fronts, a great center, sweet surrounds, it's a big thing! So he's listening to movies for sure, and no room I have ever seen is "great" with one sub in these situations. It can be very good, but look at what he's putting together...top everything....one more sub reaches that 90% level that can be achieved with any number of subs.
  15. I think it was here or avsforum they have videos of the rf7iiis. Had not heard about the rc64iii that will make the old ones cheap which will be nice.
  16. Willand derrick and fuzz all being way too nice and deferential here. I call b.s.☺ One sub even if a seaton is not enough for this setup. None of the gents i listed have one sub. I dont have one sub. I dont care what sub you add but you need a minimum of one more. Im also going to critique 160ms as sides....only if you have a very wide room at least 18feet wide. I have 160s they are great but take up huge amounts of space. Rp250s if the room is not very wide, imo. They are incredible for movies imo. Any K bipole is amazing imo for side surrounds.
  17. Im gonna say 250c. Mlo is an expert but for those bookshelves 450c is huge.
  18. My last build was the same off by a mm or 2. I think no prob gluing them together.
  19. They are acting like passive radiators and will have no dostortion at all but will add a bit of spl. Norhing negative at all imo. If you run surround sound but only the center is playing....everything else is still vibrating along w the center albeit a very small amount.
  20. Fuzz next time write to Erich he might be able to accomodate you on the front baffles. You sure you didnt turn a side wrong??? I have thought they were wrong then found i had turned it sideways as its hard to tell. Ive built 7 diy boxes from them and flawless except front baffles which was intentional
  21. Front baffles are oversized for finishing....but i have had similar experiences. Orbital sander fixes it ☺
  22. Is one speaker in a corner and the other out in the room?
  23. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/209-audio-gear/2893337-fs-klipsch-rc64-center-channel.html No affiliation.
  24. On topic i am unclear why Klipsch allows Frys to sell their products cheaper than anywhere else.
