  1. Agreed on both the CT-120s and the 55Gs.
  2. 40” is very close but I admit I have listened to my portable La Scalas with a lawn chair when they are almost touching. The stereo effect is not ideal but is still present.
  3. Coming back to life. Live with Gilmour at Royal Albert Hall.
  4. Dunno about Tang, but there was definitely an issue on Apollo 16 with orange juice. There was an open mic conversation between John Young and Charlie Duke about it.
  5. Use a photo hosting service. Somebody here will chime in with what to do.
  6. The capacitor likely came with the tweeter. When you throw those tweeters away and put some 77s back in, you can toss the cap too.
  7. Well, for Skylab III you saw a Saturn 1B (on the milkstool!). The top half of a full-up moon rocket. They didn't want to mess with the location of the white room on the tower but didn't need the bottom of the Saturn, so they just built a big stand called the milkstool to hold the 1B. That put the command/service module where it "normally" was. Lol. Great solution to a problem!
  8. Ah, then you might mean Atlas V or Delta IV and not Saturn. Sorry, I’m a space geek.
  9. There was only one Saturn V launch at night. Apollo 17. I got special permission to stay up late to watch it.
  10. I'm not at all certain, since it depends on what is done with the resultant data if there are uncorrectable errors. Does the software retry, does it slow down the speed, does it just give up and give you bad data? I dunno. What I am certain of is if you had a hash value for a given track from a database and then computed the exact hash value over the captured data for that same track, you at least have bit-for-bit what was on the original factory media, barring a rare hash collision. Once the data is the same in the digital domain, bits is bits. No better and no worse than the original CD contents. What happens after that, during and after the conversion to analog, is the tricky part. Just my 2 cents, and of course some will disagree. That's ok.
  11. Nope, just answering a question about error correction on CDs and about 4th generation copies.
  12. Yes, there are errors on CDs. Because of error correction, most can be corrected in the digital domain. The idea that if you copy a file 4 times you can hear a difference is bogus. If this were the case, all of your files would show errors, not just music. Hashes of some audio tracks / CDs are contained in a database by the aforementioned EAC. http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/en/index.php/overview/basic-technology/accurate-rip/
  13. This is a fantastic player. Congratulations.
  14. Great point, @artto This is why you use EAC Exact Audio Copy or the like.
  15. No shame at all! I suspect the answers you'll get here are these: 1. Consider re-capping those crossovers. 2. Consider changing to a better midrange driver and a better tweeter. 3. Consider changing to a better horn for the midrange. Honestly, though, since I've done all of the above...... I'd focus on #1. If they sound great already, well, enjoy them AS-IS!
  16. Honestly, the ones that I've heard are ok. Can't say I'm stunned or anything, but remember, he just does flat recording in high-res and keeps it that way throughout. I'd love to get your impression of it. Anyone's, for that matter. And no kidding, he will help you personally if you email him. He's frustrated by the random AWS download issues.
  17. Nope, I will personally attest to Mark Waldrep's character. He will help you, or I will, and I have zero affiliation with him business-wise.
  18. I haven't, but some have, according to Mark Waldrep, who owns iTrax. If you email him directly at mwaldrep@aixrecords.com he will provide you with a google drive link for the files.
  19. Yep! AIX30PERCERT gets you 30% off the entire catalog.
  20. I have also used cardboard. Worked fine. Then I ordered from Bob Crites.
  21. iTrax has a sampler album free for downloading. FOR A LIMITED TIME. https://www.itrax.com/product/itrax-sprint-aix-records-sampler/ All tracks recorded and mixed at 96 kHz / 24-bit. Both WAV and FLAC available.
  22. I think that @Edgar is right. The mouse laser will power down or at maybe switch to a lower duty cycle if not in use. Not sure if your problem is radiated or conducted but based on other things you can hear, I suspect supply filtering on your audio card is inadequate. The choke may not help but won't hurt. One way to get away from the issue is an outboard DAC. Gets the analog portion out of the computer.
