  1. CRAIG Nice looking product NAME IT NS4400 too cool[H]
  2. what would the impeance of each be. this might to some extent be a factor. with all things beign equal!!NO.
  3. appreciate info about the lenght of cable will keep in mind when i do them, my intent was for the terminal recomendation looked at parts express but could'nd find detail to determine a particular type.
  4. Would'nt be the resulant wether subjective or not , that since a new veriant has been added the total will in some minute or substantive way alter the total impedance of the electrical path thus presenting a new set of values to the speakers ,which obtaining its oragional values has to perform its function baised on what it receives and not preceive. What is herad is therefore a legimate change.
  5. tom was looking at about 18'' just enough between amp &pre
  6. Recently got some lutron keypad signal&audio cable from work, and replaced the #10 SO cord beign used to speaker and was plesantly suprised by the marked difference this cable made, the SO cord has been in system approx 1year and sounded quite good. I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE MY INTERCONNECTS from RS, making new ones from this same cable , it is a 16 awg 4 conductor with 2 sheilded within an outerjacket looking for plugs that can be soldered so conductors can be paralleled if possible, really would like to see if this makes any further improvement, been slowly and gradually progressing over time small changes with nice results. your suggestions will be much appreciated thanks. silverfox
  7. wizard welcom! i am not one of the guru's congrats on your aqusition on the 7's. and from many others experience you will really like these speakers' after 30 years of the feeling of missing some thing ,my hope is that you'll find, and reconise what might have missing. i have cornwall and have andam verry pleased with these , may your search be fruitfull.[]
  8. so does this mean that since the low distortion of the amplifier, and the heritage speakers are so close, it matters not that it is beign powered by SET or any other source capable of producing sound at normal listening level. the journey isn't baised on the first step, but rather the distance and the resistance encountered along the path beign persued. the atributes required will vary , finess, agility, stamina, and endurance is needed to complete this process, does any single piece of eqpt posses these atributes. what is it about SET amps? IT WON'T GET YOU THERE!!!!!!!!!!
  9. this might be way above my understanding of how a switcher works, seems that the use of double pole double throw switches might be a safer and less expensive way to approach this problem. could the unit contain a quick make slow break switch, i'm using the above method between acurus 125,bottlehead -pre, and dewald , or scott 299ba .interchangable with dewald.with cornwalls sharing double duty and no issues.
  10. garyrc not sure if i have an absolute answer, only that the things you're discribing i'm also expereincing some of the same, although majority of the music i listen to i'm happy with, there are times when it erks a bit. i believe that the real problem lies in the material beign played ,but definately in the begining part of the process. one thing that recentely alluded to this as far as i'm concern was the recent purchase of optical cable, which brought more sparkle to the highs and solidify my mids, i'm not quite sure how far down the rabbit hole i want to go. and deffinately not suggesting that this is the solution though imo a step in the right direction, seek &u'll find. silverfox
  11. what would be the benifit of re-magnification. and should older magnet loose some of its resistance should'nt this be taken in the rebuild of networks.
  12. hi adam ! welcome to the madness hopefully some one might be in your neck of the wood , who might be able extend to your ear the sound of welcome, the la-salaes would be by far the best choice of those given, there was a very nice pair beign offered recently for great value.i own cornwalls and though really like them would not recomend for your situation especially in reguards to partytime, others have reference the lack of bass in the la-sales and from what i have heard of other klipsch speakers cant imagine this . im sure others will offer advice baised on experience.best money you can spent is in speakers which ever you finally choose.
  13. bec! is this equipt with one of your motorstarter capacitor?[]
  14. unless there is an obvious problem like has already been mention " oxididation " no need to change .it would be better to make sure all terminals are tight. skin effect is usually visible with rippling of the outer cover after approx 60 years,or excessive exposure to direct sunlight and is irreversible.
  15. dean thanks for sharing ,times like these are what this place is really about. dean could you build some networks and present to the family at some approate time, this might be a nice jester from us here.and also keep his hope alive through the memories of lasales which i'm sure they enjoyed. i dont mean to be presumtious could be any donations might be used for this. errol
  16. which soldiers should we get worked up about the immigrants or the nationals.
  17. hi all ive been reading snippit here and there from this and am reminded of some thing craig once wrote , this is not a quote . that the volume has to reach a certain level for the system to open. and is not about low verses high power as much as realisim. how i would describe musical is when what ever is beign played brings you into its time and space, wherein there is involvement from you, and open itself to imput and creativity from any other medium , ie dance, song , rthym .once music is played and recorded its complete. accurate as a musical term seems misleading unless machanicaly produced, and timing becomes the driving force void of emotions but is rthymic, and convey all the detail. what is left is the space between you and your speakers, called (preference)
  18. what do you call a boomerang that does't come back? A stick.
  19. i've been following this for the past few days and the advice has been varied. i'm supposing that a pole from above is out of the question, and also understand the reasoning behind the cautiousness of advice given , in a senario like this a lenght of romex with section of the padding for carpet removed to allow to lay flat and a metal strip secured over cable will be as safe as any loose joint that the electrician might have left, and they are there. i'm not a builder but would advise that a chasc in your floor would not be just big enough for what could fit in it , i think that would present the possobility for cracking, it would be better to be able to place dowels in a chase then repour concrete. a $ 1500 20A residental outlet. with careful consideration you choose. Have you consider asking your electrical inspector how you might be able to resolve this delima?
  20. meagain it would seem you have a really enviable situation in as much that there are two pre's that are so close its difficult to tell the difference. i would just like to re-emphesise that the time needed to properley evulate the difference would be a prelong period listening to one, then no listening. then the next your ears will tell you .since its difficult to precieve the difference .use 1source material if you cant hear a difference you should feel it, or sense a diff. you might never be really able to choose one over the other, eventually you will determine a difference ,look for it in the moments between notes.[] errol
  21. i'm doing same thing now with radio shack dp/st switches 10$. manual opperation of switch. works for me.
  22. i don't post often, and some times when i start to respond to a tread i delete before posting. i'm often amaised at the things that is lifted up.are we trying to get validation from others about things we hear. i know i was influence by all the talk of tubes, and quite honestly when the extensive debate about Scott& eico wasin full swing i too joined the forae. my scott sounded different from my then Acurus125 it(scott) lacked some of the mid and upper freq that the acurus has. i never did hear the eico but did find a dewald that although its bit beat up has a very nice mid and top end. that reproduces music the way i like it. take a lesson from the guys who system has been the same for a long time they are doing what hobby is about .listening music. one day i was sitting alone and sad, a voice came out of the gloom and said cheer up it could be worse, so i cheered up and it did.
  23. I use to expreience this glitch, and have always heard it beign refered to as 9khz, recently i got a set of bob's networks and haven't heard it since .could this glitch be caused by bad cap. has any one who perviously experience this ,found that by recapping their network no longer hear this, just curious,[8] errol
