The mid and tweeter sections between CIII and H111 should be identical except for Resistors' values. We know that the 50 ohm Parallel Resistor in mid section in CIII is 20 Ohm in HIII. Makes sense it is lower since HII needs more series attention so parallel value is Lower than the CIII.

The Tweeter section, based on a past CANT's post, there is a series 3 ohm resistor which takes up the empty space marked R4 in the CIII network. But this does not make sense since we need L-Pad not just a series Resistor.

Surprised HII Xover has not been really addressed in this forum in spite of it being out of production for a few years now.

Do you think we could get Klipsch themselves to reveal the schematic in this forum?

    Cheers

    For Mid: I d'on't Know

For Tweeter section Yes like @CANT: a resistance of 3ohms no Lpad

Here is a picture of a network of HIII with R 3Ohms

NB: I had shown someone on the forum how to put an 8.2ohms resistor in parallel to make only 2.2Ohms, because the guy found their tweeter too weak!

  2. Hi @radiogram

    Thank you for sharing.

I believe you reversed the Fe Core self-induction of the K33E woofer (not K28) used on CWIII. The other xdiagram found on the net gives 1.5mH in series and 0.5mH in the RLC in parallel.

Your value measured on the parallel capacitor on K53Ti is also missing: 1.5µF normally for your network

Here are some diagrams, the authors are CANT from the forum and others, but I don't remember their names!

For me these diagrams above are all for P/N 1000472 REV A, do you confirm?

There are at least two versions of the filters used in CWIII during the long years of production: first P/N 1000472 REV A and second P/N 1007712 REV A, the values are different. There may be other versions, I don't know.

    P/N 1000472 REV A use in CWIII, from 2006 up to 20xx ??

P/N 1007712 REV A use in my CWIII produced week 18 of 2015

In my opinion to help the members of the Community Klipsch forum, you should indicate the references of your network: 1000472 REV A for example, and the year and the date of production of your CWIII.

  3. Hi @JohnJ and everybody

I discover this post on the CD, I will put some specimen of my collection the next days.

I have this TASCAM CD200SB pro player, with a CD-specific TEAC player base, not for computer CDroms. It has direct access to Track Select ranges and I have a small SMSL Sanskrit 6TH DAC that I bought from used $35: the sound is very good!

  5. Salut,

    @ GW Smith

Doug Sax preferred MM cartridges, it's two preferred cartridges were the Stanton 881S and the Audiotechnica AT-ML170. Doug Sax say  “I like moving coils . . . in other people’s systems.”

I think the modern cartridge that most closely resembles what he liked and the Audiotechnica VM540ML or VM740ML, you have to load them well at 100 to 200pF. Unfortunately the Stantons are no longer manufactured.

You know that the ML or Stereohedron and fine line styli protect better and wear less discs like your precious Sheffield than the elliptical of your 2M blue.

I have received some great advice here so lets try another topic. I am looking to upgrade my phono stage from what's built into my Rotel RA-1592 MKII. Using a Rega P3 with an Ortofon bronze cartridge played through Cornwall IVs. I have been switching back and forth between a Rega Fono MM MK5 and an iFi Zen Phono. I am not very impressed with either although the iFi Zen is extremely quiet. I am looking for more dynamic range and bottom end. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Hi,

I also had the Ortofon Bronze and I find what you write: lack of dynamics and soft bass. Rather than changing the phono pre I changed the cartridge: a Stanton 881S and an Audiotechnica VM740ML: finally dynamics and nice deep bass. So why not try another cartridge or the Ortofon Black stylus on your Bronze! 😉

  8. No ! For 2255 it was an example, there were many other class B at McIntosh: power advantage, low consumption and cold amp!

Even their valve classics MC60, MC225, MC275 ... were class B, many of their modern ones are still with this class B

    their Solid State are also class B, old or modern: MC2505, 2255, 2125 .... MC7270 ... MC501 ...

    😜
