  1. I have Forte's (w/ a set of K-510 horns) in a small stereo room. Very good and detailed sound. But ... certainly not able to get good sound out of these for "outside." Also have Cornwall's used as rear speakers in our main room (about 20x40ft). Like them much better than the Forte's AND they will give me "outside" sound ... so you can guess my recommendation. Cornwall's are powered by a vintage Yamaha CR-620 (35W/ch). Very good sound and was only $100 on CraigsList ... enough for "rears." If you are using it as a main system I would recommend some more power, like a Yamaha CR-1020, Marantz 2252B (or "more and bigger"). One more thought ... since you have the room, consider going Klipsch "Pro." I am using a set of KPT-904's (w/510 horns) as my main speakers and they will blow any residential Klipsch speakers away ... or the "ultimate," 402 horns with MWM boxes Cheers, Emile
  2. Chris, AWESOME! Thank you VERY much Tried to do some if this with the REW software, but don't even get close What software are you using? BTW ... "working" on the data WITH these EQ settings ... haha; keep on getting interrupted with lightning and heavy rain ... 6 inches so far Hope to get the file to you later today. Thank you SIR! Cheers, Emile
  3. Haha ... understand For some reason I have always wanted one of these. Sorry, but cannot help since I'm in Florida
  4. Haha ... I would "reconsider." Veneer IS "real wood." IMHO it will look a lot better than trying the "other" route. Just finished 2 (smaller) walnut enclosures for K-510 horns ... looks awesome with "just" a couple of coats of Danish Oil. And the process was relatively easy ... I used wood-on-wood veneer and contact cement. Cheers, Emile Add-on ... also did a subwoofer box about 4 months ago ... see below
  5. OK; maybe a little late, but here's my 2 cents Look into a vintage receiver like Marantz or Yamaha. Have a Yamaha CR-620 (35W/ch, $100 off CList) hooked up to my "rear" Cornwall's ... AWESOME. And have a Marantz 2238B (38W/ch, $200 off FleaBay;OK, was cheap ... was missing 2 knobs and AM is not working) hooked up to (modified) RF-7 horns/woofers ... EXCELLENT Cheers, Emile
  6. Have seen this before ... could be wrong but think (???) it's a JBL horn Add-on ... OK, obviously I'm wrong ... sure I had seen it ... thinking it was an EV
  7. Sorry @Chris A ... yes not all EQ's were bypassed ... new file is on the way to you See graph below ... red is old, green with all EQ bypassed. (ignore the lower one ... could not delete it ) Thanks, Emile
  8. OK; thanks to @Chris A and many others, we solved the "first" problem Damn miniDSP was clipping Have to turn pre-amp down to 1/2 volume Not sure if a miniDSP "HD" would solve this ... anyone? System sounds "pretty" good, but certainly not even close to my KPT-904's. Much smaller room, so I thought I should be able to get "close." OK; ran REW (turned off Chris' EQ, horns set at >550, LR/48 slope, Forte's at <800, same slope). Ran REW on it ... (hope I got the LF/HF amps "close," but really no clue) ... and here's the result I got (w/ 1/12 smoothing). Haha ... good/medium/bad??? Would love to hear your comments. Many thanks, Emile
  9. Haha ... blame any "bad" sound on the kid's toys
  10. See https://f072605def1c9a5ef179-a0bc3fbf1884fc0965506ae2b946e1cd.ssl.cf2.rackcdn.com/product-specsheets/KPT-904-Data-Sheet-v04.pdf , bottom right for "recommended minimum amplifier power." Yes; NO CLUE why
  11. As mentioned before, I have a pair of 904's which I power with a Marantz 2252B (52W/ch). Per Klipsch recommendations (800W/ch) way underpowered. From experience ... I have had my 904's up to ear-bleeding levels ... no distortion whatsoever ... and never had my amp turned to max And, have had this setup for almost a year now ... no problems (As a side note; there are many audiophiles running Klipschorns with tube amps of only a couple of Watts while specs say 100/400W.) Cheers, Emile Add-on ... Friend of mine had a Sansui G-9000 (160W/ch) he wanted to sell ... we hooked it up to the 904's ... not any better; actually preferred my Marantz and did NOT buy it
  12. Haha ... don't take my word as "best." I am just an amateur
  13. I've veenered several boxes Here is my procedure ... Bottom first, then sides, then top (that way the "edges" will NOT be on top, etc.) Make sure you "match" the veneer sides to top, etc. Next do the front trim (will cover the front "edges") ... any order, but cut the corners at 45 degrees. I use edge banding for this. cut pieces a little longer; adhere "close" the the edges, then cut through BOTH veneer layers (haha, carefully and at the correct angle). Remove cut pieces and adhere the strips. Sand the veneer with 220/400 grit; apply Danish oil several times. (I use 800 grit sandpaper to apply the 3rd/4th coat ... then a couple more coats.) Note; last boxes I did turned out shiny AND dull in spots ... did not sand it smooth enough ... had to sand it again ) Good luck Cheers, Emile Add-on ... I use wood on wood veneer ... cut the veneer piece to size (about 1/2 to 1" too large) ... apply contact cement to the veneer and let dry ... apply contact cement to both veneer and box side ... let dry, then attach ... use a small piece of wood (say 3-4") with a rounded edge and apply pressure
  14. Too bright? Sorry, but no clue I don't even think my new "Fortehorns" are too bright
  15. Hi DrSnooze, welcome to the forum Just a couple of notes ... Subwoofers WITH build-in amps do not seem to last very long ... avg for Klipsch seems to be about 5 yrs (very rough guess). Therefore, suggest you get a passive one with an external amp. I got a 15" sub (kit) from partsexpress.com for about $300. (Easy build with some glue and a couple of clamps. If you want to get fancy you can veneer it ) Sounds like a $1000+ subwoofer. Got a barely used Dayton Audio SA1000 amp off FleaBay for $200 (haha, 2 outputs in case you want to add a 2nd sub.) But, just checked on the R-120SW ... Jeez; only $200 delivered. Almost a "no-brainer," even though it's not as good as the R-112SW ($500) or my subwoofer kit. Have fun ... haha ... you can always upgrade later Cheers, Emile Add-on ... are you sure you "need" a sub? Your RP-250F's officially go down to 35Hz ... good enough for most music. Or do you need the sub for "earthquake" movies?
  16. Thanks ... cabinet needs a couple more coats of oil Have not done much playing with miniDSP adjustments ... haha ... waiting for my wife to leave for a couple of days Cheers, Emile
  17. Hi Rhino, welcome to the forum. Sounds like you are trying to construct a home theater with "lesser" speakers. May sound OK, but you will never get great sound ... you will never get "earthquake booms" with those speakers Minimum I would recommend is some Heresy's (if you get series I or II they will be cheaper than the dedicated centers you mentioned) Use another Heresy as a center speaker. Many of us are NOT fans of these dedicated center speakers (they are made to look "good" underneath a TV ... not made for "good" sound). Add a decent subwoofer and you'll be in business Cheers, Emile Add-on ... the reviews on the RP-500M's are generally good ... but if you put them side by side to some bigger Heritage speakers you quickly hear the difference 5 1/4 inch woofers will sound "tiny" compared to 10-12 inch woofers. Specs on these may say 48HZ, but it will not be "full" sound. Same problem (actually worse) with the RP-500C's ... Sorry, but you are just going to have to find a little more "room."
  18. Darn @Woofers and Tweeters offered me a pair ... Thank you SIR, but these speakers are bigger than one might think ... 30.5 inches deep. not enough clearance for the folding murphy bed in this room Back to the drawing board Haha ... anything like a "shallow" 684 out there? Looks like an 884 might work, but specs say 27-240HZ ... doesn't make sense as the 684 went up to 800Hz ??? Add-on ... just found curves from Roy Delgado ... 684: https://community.klipsch.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=28964 and 884: https://community.klipsch.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=28965 Darn again ... the 884's are about 36 inches wide ... too "wide."
  19. Haha GO PRO! Not familiar with the 396's but have 904's ... they will blow anything away WITH refined sound Still looking for a pair of 684's Cheers, Emi;le
