Vintage Receiver or New Integrated Amplifier for La Scala's?

Best quote ever ? -
LaScala , that room is big.... plus LaScala is my bucket list speaker. If I had the room I know what I would go with

I should add that I did listen to the JBL.... they are quite nice . But they can’t rock like the Forte. My brother was over last night. and we were blown away by how big and bad the Forte sound.

Looks like that is going to a good home . Best thing is that Sancho had just paid it forward in a similar fashion .... I urge others to do the same. I had recently given a co worker a receiver and KG 1s., it’s a good way to put unused gear back in service. And it feels good doing it.

Get the IV.... I have a saying when buying something for the long haul...." Buy once, cry once" I rarely have buyers remorse living by that edict...

Sorry, had to laugh when I read the word "endgame"... Thats great you enjoy them though.....happy listening

Luxman sq-n150 vs Luxman L-590axII
Steve. replied to vuthecuongjapan's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
I listened to the n150 driving a pair of Forte III and they sounded amazing. I was with a co worker who is not an audio guy and he was blown away . Also could not believe we were listening to a 10w amp , with the right speaker that is an incredible sounding amp. -
I was using a REL R305 with my Heresy and it was a good combo.

I compared my month old Fortes to a pic I took when un boxing and they are noticeably darker. The grain and knots are more pronounced ....

Quicksilver Mid Mono 40 watt PP. Great amps, can use virtually any EL34 or 6L6 variants

Yes. I would call it a satin lacquer finish. Don't know if its lacquer or water based but my room definitely has that new speaker smell....

Those are beautiful ! I have to say the cabinetry of the Heritage line is superb... when I unboxed mine I felt like they were a bespoke item. They are eye candy, AND they sound awesome. Nice to see that craftsmanship is alive and well in Hope. -
I noticed that with my PSB M2, they got darker over time. Those are one speaker I regret selling. Such a great speaker..... I hope to find another pair someday..... I expect my Cherry Forte IV to get a little darker... hopefully not too much. I have owned mostly dark wood speakers and these were a nice change of scenery. They are really beautiful... nice grain pattern. They did a great job matching the veneer.... hard to tell the two speakers apart.

I have a pair of Klipsch HP 3 and I love them. Sometimes it is a good change of pace to fire them up every now and then. Also have a pair of Grado RS2e and enjoy them as well. But as Shakey mentioned it’s not very comfortable for extended listening....but it’s nice to be able to “disconnect “ and block out the outside world for a while.

My Fortes sounded good out of the box, bass was a little wooly for lack of a better word. Ran them for a few days and began to question the age of the tubes on my amp. They are old and have been my back up. So I swapped out a new pair of KT 77. After repositioning them and a Jack and Coke , things improved Was it the new tubes? Putting them closer to the wall which to me was counter to what I expected Was it the Jack and Coke? Maybe, who knows but I have run them many many hours in the past two weeks and whether it was my ears adapting, placement , tube variety/weak tube? A combination of them all? Not sure but I have never been so happy with how my system sounds.
