    What I Got Today!

@K5SS, thanks for posting about your AC INFINITY AIRCOM T10 cooling equipment!!! I’ve felt a need to add cooling for my Marantz SR5012 because it runs pretty hot. Matter of fact, after discussions with Marantz Technical Support, I sent an SR6012 back to Amazon because it was running well over 120 degrees, and that was without a lot of stress. My SR5012 runs under 120 at max heat, but in my opinion, it still needs some cooling. After seeing your post in the “What I Got Today” section, I did a search on Amazon and found the model that was right for me. I went with the AC INFINITY AIRCOM T8 because it has rear exhaust and my equipment cabinet is open in the back. Since it was Prime and fulfilled by Amazon there were no taxes and when I ordered it on Friday it was guaranteed Sunday delivery; it arrived this afternoon! I’ll install it tomorrow and give it the maximum test tomorrow evening during my Music & Merlot Blu-ray DVD Surround Concert session.

OR, more succinctly, IBTL (In Before The Lock).
  3. This guy seemed to be a rolling billboard for "whacko" and may just be someone that wanted to jump in and get caught for the notoriety, we'll see! Based on the geographical spread of all of the recipients I suspect there is a network of individuals involved, so more perps to locate, I don't think this is done! Also, in my opinion, there needs to be appropriate actions taken against all of the individuals and groups that are causing chaos and incivility in the streets and public places; regardless of which side of the political spectrum you are on!
  4. In the words of Raymond J. Johnson Jr.; “you can call me Ray, or you can call me J, or you can call me Johnny, or you can call me Sonny, or you can call me Junie, or you can call me Junior; now you can call me Ray J, or you can call me RJ, or you can call me RJJ, or you can call me RJJ Jr., but you doesn't hasta call me Johnson!"
  5. Yeah, at a minimum it would need to be an Ortofon.
  6. Well, I guess I’ll be the lone dissenter and give our Keurig a YAY! We are far from coffee sophisticates, we use our Technivorm Moccamaster to brew the first pot of the day and the coffee we’ve been using for years is Seattle’s Best Portside Blend #3. If we don’t brew a second pot, we’ll finish off our coffee day with our Keurig. We use the reusable Keurig K-Cup with Seattle’s Best, but we also have a selection of our four favorite K-Cups. We’ve found that the Keurig is very handy to have around.
  7. @oldtimer, I can confirm that I have the same paste twice issue that you are experiencing. The issue appears to be related to Edge and this website; when I use IE on this website I don't have the problem. In my case, when I do paste a response, it comes from something I've written in Microsoft Word. Edit: I just went to another Forum that I belong to that uses “Invision Community” as their software and duplicated the copy and paste twice issue using Edge as my browser. Everything worked fine with IE on that website.
  8. Well, I'll be 73 this year, so my wife sure hopes I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😲 Like you, I think I’ve probably settled on my “sounds good to me” system! You indicate that your cartridge is an Ortofon Blue; so I’m not sure if it is an Ortofon 2M Blue (MM/MI), Quintet Blue (MC), or Cadenza Blue (MC). I suspect that you probably have a 2M Blue. When I finally convinced myself to move from MM/MI cartridges, mostly Grado, and try MC cartridges, I started out with an Ortofon Quintet Red and then before long moved up one notch to a Quintet Blue. I had planned to keep working up the line to a Quintet Black and ultimately to a Cadenza Black. However, I’ve been so impressed with this Quintet Blue that I think that’s probably where I’ll settle in. It just sounds right to me, but I’ll probably weaken at some point and go up one more notch to a Quintet Bronze! The Quintet Blue is also the first cartridge that I’ve been 100% successful in aligning to the point that all Sibilance has disappeared in my go to LP (Pretenders Learning To Crawl); a combination of the right Turntable and being able to accurately set overhang, VTA, VTF, Azimuth, and then finally SRA (91.295 degrees). This is the system I’ve settled on. 2 Channel System: VPI The Classic TT | Ortofon Quintet Blue Sunfire Symphonic Reference Preamp B&K Reference 200.2 Power Amp Denon DCD-1650AR Denon DRM-800 Akai GX-370D SONOS Connect Monster HTS 5100 Klipsch KLF-20s AudioQuest King Cobra ICs & Gibraltar Bi-wires
  9. 8 hours ago, Shiva said: Wow, 5 hours. Sounds like you have a massive yard. The lazy mans guide to mowing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It isn’t huge, but we have 1 acre of actual yard (grass) and some of it is on slopes. My wife keeps reminding me that I'm the one that wanted a big yard in retirement, but at almost 73 it’s good exercise! 😳 Typically I’ll mow 1/3 to 1/2 of the yard with my Walk-Behind mower, but today I probably did a little over 1/2 with it. Between equipment prep, edging the driveway and sidewalks, string trimming around trees and flowerbeds, using the walk-behind mower for about 1/2+ of the lawn, then the Lawn Tractor for the remainder of the lawn, then blowing off the driveway and sidewalks and porches, then equipment cleanup and put away, and then sprinkler system test; today it took about 5 1/4 hours with 4 Grape flavored Propel hydration breaks. 😫 I’m trying to figure out how I can make your solution work for my yard! 😂 Before we retired we lived in Oceanside, CA; it took about 20 minutes (total) to mow the yard because most of it was Xeriscape. Mowing is done; now it's wine time! 🍷
  10. Good morning all! Working on getting some coffee in me before heading out to have 5 hours of fun in the hot Texas sun! It's mowing day!
  11. Stay right there, right where you're standing, don't move; I'll have my vehicle over shortly!
  12. Glad things worked out well for you and no one was injured!!! Nice to hear that the old college is still doing well!! My mother went there and I went there for my Freshman and Sophomore years (1963-65); we lived in Lewisville when I attended. Of course, it has gone through several name changes and it was Southern State College when I was there.

    What I Got Today!

Good luck, I hope it meets your expectations!!!!! I'm a big Carver fan myself. I started out with a CT-7 & M1.0t and then to a CT-17 & TFM-4.0 and then replaced the CT-17 with a C-16 and there was other Carver stuff along the way. Then I moved to Bob Carver's Sunfire Symphonic Reference Preamp and a B&K Reference Power Amp. My biggest problem is I never get rid of audio equipment I replace; it goes back into the original boxes and then to the closet full of audio stuff!
  14. Yep, when I retired and moved back to Texas I had to go out and find the right pair of boots for me. I hadn't worn Cowboy boots since I was a kid. Mine are Handmade Lucchese Classics. I don't wear them every day, only for dress up type occasions.
  15. My wife and I usually eat at the restaurant once or twice a year; there are several great local restaurants to choose from, so we have to go through a rotation system! 😀 Even though we are local, we've considered checking out the B&B; thanks for the picture!
  16. Yep, made at Kiepersol Winery. Kiepersol also makes great wine and they have a very nice restaurant at the Winery.
  17. I really hadn’t planned on any updates in 2018, but when our old Sony Flat Screen XBR TV decided to retire, I replaced it with a Sony XBR 4K Ultra HD TV. Well, you can’t just stop there, so I upgraded my Blu-ray player to a Sony 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player. Well, you can’t stop there either, so I upgraded my old B&K Reference 50 Series II Surround Processor and Carver 5 Channel Power Amp to a Marantz SR5012 Surround Receiver. Well, you certainly can’t stop there, so I replaced my Amazon FireTV with a 4K Ultra HD FireTV. And, of course, I updated all of my HDMI cables to AudioQuest Cinnamon & Chocolate cables. Dangit, I thought I was done, but you can’t let 2 channels of a 7 Channel amplifier go unused, so I added two Klipsch RP-140SA Dolby Atmos Speakers to make my Home Theater a 5.1.2 System. Whew, my wife sure hopes that’s it for a while! 😳
  18. For K-Cups we’ve settled in with The Original Donut Shop Regular, Community Coffee Breakfast Blend, Newman’s Own Organics, and Starbucks Pike Place Roast; all are Medium Roasts. In all cases, we use the strongest setting to brew our coffee. I'm probably good for 3-4 more cups today!
  19. We have had ours since June 2012 (6 years) and it still brews as HOT and FAST as it did when we bought it. For us, it brews the perfect cup of coffee!!!!
  20. We have a Technivorm-Moccamaster, best coffee maker we've owned. It will probably out live us, but if it doesn't, we'll replace it with one just like it!

    Schvitzin'

Yeah, last year when we drove out to San Diego we stopped for gas in Yuma; it was 117 degrees! I can confirm, at 117 degrees it doesn't make a damn if it's a dry heat!!!!!!!!! 😲
  22. This discussion regarding listening levels got me curious about the volume at which I typically listen to music. So, I went out to my room where my 2 Channel system is located to test it with my Digital Sound Level Meter. With the system's controls in the same place they were last night during a Vinyl Music & Merlot session (typical listening level) and using the Heart - Dreamboat Annie album that I listened to; I played "Magic Man" and "Crazy on You" with the meter where my ears would have been. The meter varied between approximately 79-85db. And, I could feel the music, so it wasn't just Pink Noise! 😁 At this level I can hear all of the details in the recordings. I do occasionally listen at higher volumes, but not ear bleeding levels!!!!! Tonight, I'll measure the sound level of the surround system when I watch/listen to a Blu-ray Concert DVD, probably Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Live on SoundStage; or perhaps Robin Trower Living Out Of Time.
  23. Actually, I did walk down to it and along the fence. And, you're right, it certainly is big, but those long ago memories that I formulated from the movie just made it seem so much larger in my mind's eye!

    What I Got Today!

Oh, goodness, I can relate! Not only do I have a problem with buying more gear, I don't like to get rid of any of my older gear! I have a complete rack in our storage area that has nothing but boxes (yes I keep the original boxes) of all of the components, with very few exceptions, that I've replaced when I upgraded. Heck, I still have the Marantz 4400 (in its original overseas double box) that I purchased at the Yokosuka Navy Exchange when I left Japan for the US in 1975. 😲
  25. I was on a business trip in 1982 that took me through various areas of Europe and the Middle East when I took this picture of The Great Pyramid and Sphinx outside of Cairo. After seeing The Ten Commandments as a kid, I expected The Sphinx to be much larger!!!!!!!! The highlight of the Cairo segment of the trip was being allowed to travel up the passageway in the Great Pyramid all the way up to the burial chamber. That was a long walk up and the passageway was very narrow, I was bent over all the way up! Sorry for the quality of the picture, it is a conversion from a slide that was taken with my old Minolta SRT-101. I should have cleaned the slides before I scanned them, but I was lazy! PB Picture removed.
