  1. Gotta ask............. what’s the impact of the ceiling height? I’ve never run anything this impressive but my khorns truly blossomed in a room with 25’ ceilings. This looks like it’s begging to breathe.
  2. Remember the Amy days here? This place is a rusted shell these days. There needs to be a new Klipsch mantra: “Intellect - limited to sound reproduction - PERIOD!” ;
  3. There’s a pair of forte II’s in Columbia Falls currently on Craigslist. That’s not horribly far away from you.
  4. I’ve had my Amazon horror stories too. I won’t buy any large or expensive items from Amazon any more. Also do not buy underwear........ eeeew. As bad as some of the experiences have been what’s worse is that Amazon refuses to post critical reviews so that others can avoid bad vendors or misrepresented products. Posted reviews with photographic evidence proving my observation only to have it quashed by Amazon. So take those reviews with a hefty grain of salt...... they’re biased by Amazon.
  5. There are 2 closet doors that are mute testimony to how lousy I was at darts. Been blind in one eye since birth and couldn’t hit a barn door with anything.
  6. The genetic makeup of 2 of these cases in Washington indicate that they are related even though the individuals did not know each other nor had any occasion to cross paths. It is speculated that an asymptomatic carrier came to the region about 14 days ago and that up to 1500 people have become infected. And, most of those are not showing symptoms and are not yet identified. Yikes........
  7. We suffer from corona viruses already and all of them originated in animals. The common cold is a type of corona virus. While the initial source of the virus may be debatable one thing for certain is that it began in the animal kingdom mutated so that it would infect humans. The real trouble starts when humans, in turn began to infect other humans. The SARS corona virus which originated in chickens (as I recall) was not ever passed from human host to human host. Instead China killed many millions of chickens/birds to squelch the infections before it mutated into something more serious. This new corona virus immediately went to this transmission level with a vengeance and lots of stealth........ and we see the consequences.
  8. Ultimately I think humanity will have to accommodate this new virus strain. It is not atypical for a viral infection to lay low or go dormant and resurface, especially in compromised patients. What they need to avoid is a massive outbreak that will overwhelm our health systems with critically ill patients. But I do not think they’ll be able to put this genie back into the bottle.
  9. Well this strain of corona virus is similar to other pathological forms of the virus. They all originated in animals and crossed into our species. The common cold is a type of corona virus. This strain is entirely new and no humans offer it any immunity. This strain starts very quietly then either gets really bad or dissipates. People have this bug for up to 14 days w/o any symptoms and all the while they can infect others. That along with no host immunity leads to very easy and widespread transmission. That said it is reportedly not as infectious as the measles. What I find interesting is the wide scattering of these new cases along the west coast. If these people were infected by another person then there should be many others in their immediate arena. So far that’s not the case. Makes me wonder about inanimate transmission. Did these folks buy a Chinese product packaged during the initial phase of the Chinese epidemic? The timing would fit that scenario. Time will tell.

    Jokes?

Eminem backwards is ‘minime’ - does this count?
  11. I do recall a certain ‘fearless leader’ boldly proclaiming that our healthcare systems could easily manage the Ebola virus.......... then blithely transported several Ebola cases stateside. With weeks Ebola had spread amongst several health workers. I will grant you that our leadership is woefully under informed about healthcare delivery. But there’s no political boundaries to this idiocy, especially when it comes to a highly infectious virus. If I have any genuine concerns I could envision some overly political zealot intentionally spreading this disease attempting to cultivate political leverage. Like you, there seems to be some seriously unhinged people out there.
  12. Accidental deaths in hospitals are the 3rd leading cause of death in America. Some 250,000 patients die annually from an ‘oops’ during a hospitalization. With this in mind there is no way anyone can expect these systems to be infectious disease ‘bullet proof’. So the notion of our “fearless leader” being ineffective at stopping any disease is really dumb. For something such as covid the best we can expect is to delay/contain it long enough for our industry to develop and distribute a vaccine. Even the draconian measures placed by total dictatorships is not working to contain covid so there’s nothing positive to be gained anywhere by politicizing this new virus. Yes covid now shows that it can retreat into dormancy and resurface and express acute illness. Chicken pox/shingles and the herpes viruses and many viruses do similar things. So while this is not good news it is also not a novelty for viral infections. As for the mortality rate it is also similar to well known viruses. Polio had similar mortality figures. More than 90% of the people who got polio just experienced a bad cold. But we all recall wards loaded with iron lungs. Well 2% of 500,000 cases will give you a lot of paralysis, thus the pictures showing 100’s of polio victims residing in iron lungs. Whether a bad influenza or polio or measles or now covid any infectious disease where zero population immunity exists it can realize a massive amount of infections in a very short time frame. This huge volume of acute cases overwhelms systems and those experiencing the worst infections will more likely suffer the worst consequences. IMHO covid cannot be stopped for the time being. It can be managed with the goal of not having masses of sick people in need of urgent care
  13. Yeah........ epidemiologists I know feel like this one is gonna go global. The bug is highly infectious and the course of the illness makes it a stealthy hard to contain vector. Fortunately for most humans it is not a lethal ailment. But for certain groups it will be pretty serious. Our country has many advantages over others in this regard. We should have a vaccine soon........ but getting adequate supplies of the vaccine will take some effort. Sadly, it seems as though humanity needs a disease ‘wake-up’ call to remind us of life’s vulnerabilities. The truly scary scenarios are those which may occur in 3rd world countries where poverty, lack of sanitation and poor healthcare offer the worst of the worst situations. Insofar as the stock market impact that is more a result of the efforts to curb the disease. China is shutting down its workforce trying to manage this. This points out how much the west has come to rely upon China in our economies.

    Jokes?

This may sound Byzantine but............ if you have bad obstructive sleep apnea and really, really, REALLY want some relief talk to your doctor about a permanent tracheostomy. You can get a tracheostomy ‘button’ that is a simple access port which can be left open at night and closed the rest of the time. This way you bypass all of your upper airway obstruction while you sleep and the rest of the time life is pretty much normal. You can still speak, eat, etc...... just like normal. But you will have a permanent hole in your neck. BTW the button is easily hidden by most shirt collars. See an ENT doc for particulars.
  15. I’d have to think that a ‘wood’ fire would be variable enough to not result in such a consistent interference. It’d be real interesting to test it all out empirically.
  16. Mmmkay....... as I understand this what is occurring is that the heat waves are altering the phase frequency of the sound waves as they pass. Essentially the heat wave can cause sound waves to cancel out. I am guessing that this would occur over all frequencies in relation to the not only the amount of heat but also other ambient factors such as barometric pressure and relative humidity. Exactly how much interference - I dunno. But from what I read here in this situation the gas driven fire pit is producing a consistent enough flame to generate consistent interference of only certain sound frequencies so there’s a perceived loss in just those frequencies. So on a windy day the interference would tend to warble as the wind alters heat dissipation. A combustible flame should interfere less consistently as it offers a less consistent fire. Vary the intensity of the flame and see if you vary it’s impact on the sound. If you possess sound meters, try to measure this interference........ I mean, if you can ‘hear’ a difference it should also be measurable. This is like ‘fun’ with physics. 🤪🤓🤔
  17. Keep in mind that once any air is inhaled it quickly gets heated and fully 100% humidified at body temp. Keep in mind that ambient humidity content varies greatly with temperature. 100% humidity at 15F is much, much lower at 72F. So in cold temps the body has a humidity deficit........ it adds moisture to inhaled air to bring it up to 100% humidity at body temp. Relative humidity is usually a comfort issue but high humidity in high temps leads to environmental issues that can trigger reactive airways (asthma). High humidity results in growth of molds which can saturate air with spores, some can be toxic. Mites grow better in warm high humidity areas. Warm highly humid air is heavier and can be perceived as increasing work of breathing. Warm air with high humidity holds particulate aerosols better. On the other hand dry cold air can cold stress airways. Running on a cold dry day often leads to sore airways and can produce asthmatic responses. This is why folks wear snoods in winter. A snood captures exhaled warmth and humidity and thus transfers those to the next inhaled breath reducing cold stress. Getting environmental humidifier systems in cold climates often means adding humidity to keep levels at around 40% relative humidity at room temps. So...... if you are having breathing issues it may be related to other environmental issues. You can have the house evaluated for mold pollutants. Keeping fresh air cycling through a home reduces stagnation issues. The answer to your needs can be complex. You can buy home environmental management systems that’ll keep the house totally ‘clean’, no dust, no bugs and proper humidity. I’d suggest you 1st examine areas you can’t visualize for mold. It can get into everything. Look under couch cushions, laundry chutes, crawl spaces and those trackways shower doors glide on are always moldy. Replace your pillows. Wash your bedding and towels more frequently. Make sure your forced air system is cycling outside air into your home and keep its filters clean. Air ducts......... can be huge problems. Lastly if you have any level of asthma make sure you have a rescue inhaler handy. If severe....... keep an epi-pen on hand.
  18. Hate these kinds of experiences. They stay with you and remind you of the perils in life. Once lived in a gate guarded condo complex. Took the dog for a walk outside the complex and a stranger asked me if I knew some girl. I didn’t and we parted ways. Later that night he shot and killed her. He got off with some manslaughter conviction as I recall.
  19. Yup....... But the law is the law and polygamy is not gender specific and gender discrimination is illegal.
  20. Gotta believe that this would go either direction so that a woman could secure multiple husbands as well as the other-way-around.
  21. I will look into this. Thnx👌😁
  22. There’s a tropical gardenia plant that is extremely fragrant. A nurse from the Philippines would bring one flower into the office and it would fill the room with fragrance as long as it remained fresh. Exactly how to formulate a perfume that mimics nature must be challenging. A field of night blooming jasmine is intoxicating. The same with any flowering citrus orchard. But you cannot find these odors accurately reproduced. Most perfumes are obnoxious, some even offensive. And heavy scents certainly can trigger asthma. Unsure why Jungle Gardenia is so enticing to me. But it is nice to have some things in life that intrinsically deliver pleasure 😍😍.
  23. If you can smell ‘her’ from 3 feet away then she’s all yours 🤢 😉

    Perfumes?

In high school I had a part time job in a local pharmacy. Late one evening while I was stocking the lower shelves in one aisle from somewhere in the store a scent captured my senses. I was in love/lust/whatever. I did not see the person wearing the perfume but I had been keenly seduced by it’s depth and luxury. And I had no idea what it was. It was heartbreaking 😫. Later in life (like 10 years later) I finally figured out what it was. Jungle Gardenia......... bingo............ except they did not make it any longer. Even today if you go to eBay you’ll find NOS Jungle Gardenia offered at exorbitant prices. I have bought some in the past and was not disappointed. There are some similar products but none holds a candle to the real deal. What is your favorite scent? Is there a product that does the same for you?
