  1. It's been said before, but Dave truly was a good guy, RIP.
  2. Ahh...we had a gas station when I was a yute. We pumped it, checked it and added it if needed, NO CHARGE other than products. There was a time when people were treated with admiration and respect, even regular people. We really thought it was important to help people be safe and take care of their vehicles, some had no one else to do it. Today...ha ..who cares. We also really enjoyed seeing all the great cars and people from all parts driving them. I never recall meeting one bad customer over all the years. I really believed everyone was good......Then later I was informed some people were not good, by the media, not any person I ever knew........
  3. I'm pretty sure these are all signs a of a BOOMING ECONOMY ! You know, like KABOOM !
  4. I'm gonna go with mother nature theory. Things will all work out, just gonna be a while. Mother Nature works on a longer time period than news cycles. But...it always works in the end, dumb weak perish, smart strong excel. Of course we may not ever see it, but it's coming. It is natures way......she will have her say.....eventually....Till then, raise your kids with a good understanding of the world, life, people, self reliance, they'll be ok.....
  5. I can't say I ever had a better than advertised deal either, until lately...I bid on a ZERO feedback, one grainy photo receiver. I got it for less than obviously poor condition units. I received a double LARGE box, with original box inside, manual, unsent owners registration from 1980, with a perfect, spotless unit inside. I contacted to thank the lady, she said her brother passed in 1991 and it was boxed up since. So...that may not happen again EVER...but who knows...The next chance I took, I bought a unit with decent but not great photos and not much description, no box mentioned again. The unit arrived in HEAVY DUTY double LARGE box, with ORIGINAL Pioneer box inside. The unit was from a time capsule I guess, just like new, and I'm very picky. So....I may get burned bad next time but....DON"T dismiss any place from looking. I had previously posted wanted here, without any luck........I did have a few offers from nice members to help.
  6. Dr Seuss, The Cat in the Hat
  7. Shop goodwill, usually wide selection of gear. It's not the goodwill your Dad shopped at.....The few bids I bid were more than they were worth from a good seller and still lost em'....If I can't find it on C list I go to ebay. My last few gear purchases were better than described, way better, and two 40+ year old units, in original boxes (not even mentioned) for 30+ years, who knew...??
  8. Yep, move it, and I know a GREAT place.........
  9. Thanks to those that served and have passed. My Dad was in Germany as an 18 year old in WW2 . He lived through the war but never recovered from it. If he could only have had a "safe space" and a "cry closet" and that mean ole Adolf would have been "cancelled". Of course he lived in the real world, where you lived or died based on your wits and your fortune, daily.........Thanks Vets !
  10. This thing still goin on..??? oKEE dOKEE...It'll run out of gas eventually....
  11. I have my water chiseled and flown in straight from the Antarctic...is there a better way ???
  12. These were at Adorama for $350 or so a pair shipped for weeks.......
  13. Yep, me too, as part of my multi channel HT. I enjoy the video too. I do that in my HT. When I'm in two channel mode, it's music only......It still don't matter, anyone can discuss whatever they want anywhere as far as I'm concerned. I'm kind of a freedom guy........But..if it's TWO CHANNEL you're after, you won't need very many speakers to accomplish that.....
  14. I'm confusion....are we talking 2 channel ? Not that it matters but if you're talking 2 channel you're doin music listening. If you're doing music you don't need all that stuff. You need 7's (or good speakers) a decent VINTAGE receiver or pre/amp and maybe a sub. Maybe a sub, with modern electronics for sure. With vintage I don't need a sub at all. For music it won't get much better. I had 10k in a HT that never got close to the musical satisfaction I craved for 25 years (since digital avr's). I now have that for less than the price of one of my rsw 15's new. It's a big rabbit hole I suppose we all need to go into...hey it was fun, just never satisfied for long enough. I could do easy with only my Project One/speakers and internet connection. Only My opinion mind ya.

    rf 7

Yep, it's true, the classic 7's are truly "one" of Klipsch best speakers ever. The last musical speaker in my book. RP/82/83/ and the like, great HT. The 7's need hundreds of watts if you want them to really want them to show what they can do, don't care what nobody say. I had 500 per channel on mine once and it was pretty scary, literally shaking. All my friends still talk about it, loudest, cleanest stereo ever, it was a great room too . I thought surely the cabinets would explode. Sure they're great with a few good watts too, just not nervous good. I was just listening to my 20's with only tweeter upgrade and the imaging could not be better. I'm assuming imaging has something to do with front end too. All my Klipsch image very well. I could ask any novice, can you hear that center channel and they say oh yeah. Then I tell em' have a closer listen, they are surprised there is none playing. The best part is when the imaging is perfect but you still hear the active stereo work in L & R channels. I think that part relies on front end totally.
  16. If you can be very patient you will find one. I know that's not a great answer but it's true. I'll point out you must be willing to drive or pay the price, I'd drive a 1,000 miles for 7's and the right deal. The drive is just a day, the speakers can be enjoyed many years. For the fabulous original 7's it's well worth the work. I had cherry 7's for about 10 years, got sick and had to sell em' to stay afloat ,miss em' everyday. I've been on the lookout for years for another pair. Sooner or later if I live long enough I'll find em.
  17. A McIntosh and 30's, operating at specs ? Should be sweet... I think you need to step up to the next level of audio (think big $) if those don't do it.......Or, are there things in this room that need attention ? Or...there are lots of speaker companies that may suit your taste better. I use several different brands as to meet the need. All systems/rooms have strengths and weakness, all.
  18. Hard to describe, but bigger is the word.I thought the 64 was ok, but not impressive. The rc7 has always impressed everyone that hears it. I have still not heard a center better than the rc7. If you aren't happy with it I suggest a matching front for center.
  19. Stick with 7's, I had and sold the 64.......
  20. Ball of Confusion....that's what the world is today....hey hey...And the Band played on !
  21. Wow...a perfectly logical sentence. Today it sounds revolutionary to some....The more you know.....
  22. Thanks, the 626 is a nice sounding unit but I'm hoping for an 8xx or next above. Still I appreciate the help.
  23. Just throwing it in but....Cornwalls didnt need a sub back in the day....With newer pre/pro/avr almost every speaker needs a sub. I have Cerwin AT15's, they do NOT need a sub with anything that can drive them. With newer pre/pros I find I need a sub even with KLF 20/30's. I have an Emotiva PT100 into a very capable Parasound, still use rsw15 with 20's. I have a Project one Mark IIIB, it needs no sub driving Fluance Signature speakes with only two 8 inch drivers. All this applies to music, for HT there is a discrete signal subs would use.
