  1. My opinion is that any amp priced at over a hundred bucks an hour for labor and parts at more than a couple of hundred bucks is way excessive. Perhaps a younger man might hear something different, though I was in my forties when I got it and my hearing was good to well into ultrasonic and a young man, my Val Alstine refurb Dynaco ST70 amplifies to perfection. As a recordist, I am on location. What I hear back when replayed on Heritage is limited only by the microphones, and given that I use the finest ribbons and put them where my ears want to be that is not much of a limitation. If you like samples, let me know and I will send links. Dave
  2. That's pretty weird, Jeff. I am certainly all ears... Dave
  3. Careful, guys. 178 pages now. Some gray areas but OK so far. Just don't cross the line. Question is not how other countries are doing but how we are doing...which is pretty badly. Texas and Arkansas opening up and Arkansas shooting upwards like a rocket. Texas not doing so well either. Both show the hoax starting to spread after a downturn within a week of the phased openings. These are continuing even though the curves have resumed with a passion. One of my friends is in a hoax ICU with this hoax virus right now. Just wear the mask and don't spread the hoax. I REALLY do not want to die from a hoax. Dave
  4. Thanks. I've spread this effort on FB, here, and in person as I want maximum pressure to win the war. Dave
  5. Precisely the problem. Enjoyed them far more than cigarettes and would smoke on a single one for several hours in 1 minute or less sessions, then put it in my little airtight tube. Usually smoke a whole one in the AM with my newspaper and coffee out at the patio table...and that includes in a heavy coat in the winter. I do not want to quit! Doing it for my health and social reasons... Anyway, today MUCH better than yesterday as I am doing CAD drawings of water distribution systems for an interactive course I am developing for my AF job. Extremely focusing and I only have briefly thought about it when I get up to pee or whatever. Just grabbed a bunch of Jolly Ranchers, Tootsie pops, and Werther's hard candies and put them by my workstation. They help quite a bit when I get the urge.
  6. Tempting, but no cigar. I am not quitting cigarettes. Ditched my two pack a day habit 25 years ago but succumbed to cigarillos. Smoke far less of them, but still too much. Day 15 now and the 14th day was another violent nicotine counterattack I almost lost. However, this AM has been a bit better. The war goes on... Dave
  7. As I said, as crooked as the insulin suppliers. I paid much less than that, maybe 35.00, which is still a dollar a pill and a good profit. 300 is hatefully wrong. Dave
  8. Can't recall what I paid for mine, but apparently not much or I would have noticed. I've certainly noticed over the years that these crooks charge about the same for nicotine products and such as it costs to smoke. Nicotine is dirt cheap and most of the pills were generic before they were identified as possible smoking aids. It is absurd. Dave
  9. Thanks, Travis. Don't recall this thread. Agreed about take Chantix immediately before or after food. Made me pretty sick the first time or two until I drank a lot of water with it and ate. Not sure it is doing much, but taking it anyway. Dave
  10. Well, certainly a cunning linguist and master debater... Dave
  11. Only lapsed once so far, when I found a three pack of my cigarillos in a briefcase with a laptop I took to my campsite last weekend. Smoked them, and got no buzz or relief other than wanting more. Think I will just stay the course now. Somewhat like masturbation. Doesn't last long, doesn't satisfy, and you just want more. Dave
  12. Appreciated. We all have our addictions and devils to deal with. Dave
  13. I hope so. Problem is I did not want to quit and I love that tobacco flavor. But I don't want to die to get it and am sick of being a slave. Dave
  14. Flat or glossy piano black looks awesome. Did that to some Fraziers for the same reasons. Dave
  15. Maynard, you know better. If you touted a candidate it couldn't be more political. Dave
  16. Man, do I get that. 12 days into quitting nicotine after 60 years and I am going through hell. Getting old isn't for *******.
  17. Irfanview is free and has been the most popular program for such things for decades. Nice because you can do a batch resize of as many pix as you wish very rapidly. For web posting, I reduce to 1920 width at 96dpi with "Maintain Aspect" option. Gets them small enough for anything on the web while maintaining good quality. Dave
  18. Bunu kimse anlamayacak. Lütfen göndermeden önce tercüme edin. Ayrıca, daha fazla ayrıntıya ihtiyacımız var. Dave
  19. We are equally sorry about our French... Dave
  20. Not seeing anything new. Best price/performance TT of my lifetime was the Stanton TT of the mid 70s. Opposing magnets and always levitated. 681EEE cartridge, and 80 bucks. You had to spend 10 times that even then to get a significant increase in audio quality. Dave
  21. Methinks you missed the point. Dave
  22. That is absurd. Klipsch is not a country and can do as it sees fit. As a volunteer I don't report to Klipsch. Review the TOS. No mention of criticism of Klipsch being forbidden. However, not a good idea to challenge the mods like that as it tells us you haven't read the TOS (bad sign) and you think we can be influenced. Enjoy the Forum. Dave
  23. Got to thinking about the discomforts of some PPE. Spent a lot of years in the oilfield, none of which was more uncomfortable than the last year when fire retardant clothing was required on most west Texas rigs. Usually brand new, stiff, long sleeved and worn over most of your regular clothing. In the summer, I've worn these in 115 degree direct west Texas sun. How we stayed conscious is beyond me, but frequent breaks and lots of water were necessary. Worse, no whining or signs of discomfort allowed in the "he man" environment. Dave
