  1. I have a $400.00 Bose Wave Radio. Do you think we can use it? It should have the same high Quality sound as all the rest Blose, I mean Bose! I have come along way since then: Denon 3300 KLF 30's KLF C-7 KLF 10's KSF S-5's Paradigm PW 2200 (replaced my Velodyne HGS 12) Denon DCM 370 Sony DVP S-530 Mitsubishi 55" widescreen (coming next month or so)
  2. Thr RSW 10 won't compare to any SVS sub in output. I think you can get the most bang for buck with SVS, HSU VTF-2 and Paradigm PW 2200 in that price range. They all will provide you with quanity and quality bass.
  3. A Great place to buy from online. Check out Onecalls feedback at www.audiosurvey.com and see for yourself. http://www.audiosurvey.com/cgi-local/mailorder.pl?action=finddesc&name=onecall&sort=votes
  4. I choose the KLF 10's over the RF 3's when I bought them. I later realized that the 10's really fatigue me quick. If I could go back, I would buy the KLF 20's (or 30's)instead of the 10's. I later added the KLF 30's and I just love those in everyway! If at all possible, try to listen and decide for yourself both have advantages.
  5. 1. SVS subwoofers 2. Paradigm 2200 msrp is $750 or so but I found one at a local dealer for $500 and it has a peak output of 114 db!
  6. Don't boubt your neighbor. A year ago I lived across the street and up one house from a guy the had a home theater system. Everytime that guy played music we could feel the bass in my house not less then 100-120' away. I had a Velodyne HGS 12 at the time and I was convinced that they had an 18" killer sub of some sort. Oneday I saw the guy out front and I asked him what kind of subwoofer he had as we could feel it at our place. He claimed to have some cheap 12" Radio Shack sub and that was all. If he was telling the truth I would imagine that your neighbor is very aware of subs of your magnitude when played.
  7. I agree, Get the SVS Ultra and you will never look back. Unless you are looking to save money then you could buy my PW2200 and I can get the Ultra.
  8. I have a Sony DVD player and I don't think the audio from it is very high quality at all. The sound and performance does vary from one unit to another. What is the best overall low/mid line player. Good question? I have looked into this a little over the past few days looking for the best $400 unit I can find. I think that for me the Denon DVD 1600 with DVD Audio and Progressive Scan looks like a good choice. That DVD player should cost you about $350ish from Uncle's Stereo and according to a post from Audio Review it sounds about as good as Denon's DCM 370 HDCD player. Neither Denon unit is High End but both should do a favorable job in their attempt to play high quality for the price. For about $600 you could get into the Denon 2800II. That DVD player seems to be a solid unit that plays everything short of SACD. This message has been edited by RWMIN on 09-02-2002 at 12:02 PM
  9. How is it hooked up. Are you just connected to the LFE input on the sub. If yes you need to use a Y-adapter and also connect to Line L or R for music.
  10. The KLF 30's are very efficient and because of that you might look for some discontinued KSP S6 or even the new Reference S7's if more towers are not an option. I think that the S 7's would do well. My KLF 10's work great as rears with my KLF 30's exspecially in 5 ch. stereo. I do also use a pair of KSF S5's for surrounds but I think that the towers are better in my room. As for the sub, I think you should get as much sub as you can. The KSW 12 would be hard pressed to keep up with Legends for sure. Boa offers some solid advice with those subs but you may also want to look at an HSU VTF-3 ($850). If you really MUST stay unnder $500 then the HSU VTF-2 would be your best $450 spent unless SVS has something in that $$$ range and their design will work for you. If the design of the SVS sonatube works for you then I would go the SVS route for your sub. Take it from me, I have had a Velodyne HGS 12 and now a Paradigm PW 2200. both are very good subs but neither are enough. If only I got a Velodyne HGS 18 in the first place! Godd luck!
  11. I would go with the SVS CS Ultra if I were in your position. I have had two Klipsch LF 10 subs and both were very unreliable as was the entire line. I know that wasn't the RSW line but lets just take a minute to discuss those. Before the release of the RSW line BOBG said that it would take an 18" Velodyne with a 64,000 watt amp to match the 20 hz. output of the RSW 15. In yet another post (9/2001 KSW vs. RSW) BobG said that by their measurements the RSW 15 was "MANY, MANY DB louder at 20 HZ then the Velodyne HGS 18" It would appear that Klipsch has not only had trouble in producing a good quality sub but they seem to have an incredible difficult time in producing this awesome mystery RSW 15 they spoke of and delivering it to the public. Could you imagine buying a car that claims to have 500 hp and finding out that the thing only had 220 after you bought it! I guess it could have just been SALES HYPE but either way all credability in sub building and testing is gone for me. I know they might sound like a great sub and the independent tests show they are a good sub but it is no where near the monster they claimed it to be! All Sub credability...GONE!
  12. I live near McCarren and Mira Loma. You'd go Geiger, 395n, Longley, McCarren, to Rio Poco (1 blck S. of Mira Loma). My wife and I are staying here with her mom until sometime in November when our home is completed in Spanish Springs. Everything is in storage except the Denon and Klipsch's. I couldn't last without them. BTW, I have worked on many wells in your area. I know Geiger Grade well...
  13. Kenratboy I can offer you a chance to listen to the KLF 30's in the event you have not had a chance to listen to them. I am in Reno and you are welcome to come over and listen. You can email me at www.rickminster@worldnet.att.net my system is: Denon 3300 KLF 30's - front KLF C7 -center KLF 10's -A.rears KSF S5-s -B.rears Paradigm PW 2200 sub
  14. I just listened to a pair of Ref 7's and I own 5 Legends. I loved the vocals from the RF 7's. Heck even my wife thought they sounded VERY good and neither of us liked the original RF 3 line very much. When I demoed the RF 7's they were being played with a Yamaha and a CD that I haven't heard of. Anyway there wasn't any depth to the bass with that material but again the sound was very nice on the vocals. It may be that the music lacked depth, I don't know. I did leave thinking that my KLF 30's were more dynamic and emotional then the RF 7's. I know this really isn't a fair being that my opinion is based on music that I am not familar with but I there it is anyway. Klipsch KLF 30's-Powerful in your face rock the house speakers. Klipsch RF 7's-Near breath taking vocals, could sing a baby to sleep.

    Rsw-18

Before the RSW line was released I seem to recall Klipsch (BobG) posting that it would take a Velodyne 18 with a 64000 watt amp to out perform the RSW 15 at 20 hz.
  16. RoadHawg I absolutely love your post! I don't think you could be more accurate about your Christian faith (and mine) and the foundation of our country! Kenratboy It's nice to see another Navadan on the board.
  17. Ok ears, you need help! I think that the first step to recovery is SVS. Oops, I mean the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. As long as you don't move next door to us, or even on the same block, we are here for you. LOL.
  18. Both subs were tested by Tom Nousaine and the PW2200 had more outout from 25 hz up but at 20 hz the HSU VTF-2 ran the show. I don't have the exact specs as most my stuff is in storage untill my home is built. Tom Nousaine has tested the PW 2200 twice. Both times 25 hz. and up were the same but 20 hz output was not. I think the first test had output on the PW 2200 at 91 db 20 hz and the second yeilded something like 84 db 20 hz and 104 at 25 hz , 107 max and peaks somewhere around 112 db. The HSU did 93 db at 20 hz and 99 at 25 with about 104 or 105 db max output. I have a PW 2200 and it is a good sub. I have had a Velodyne HGS 12 and it did seem to extend much deeper. I have thought about the HSU a few times to extend to that low bass for a low price. I think that, for me, I would have to go for an SVS CS-Ultra next time. Like the Ears says, Both are a very good choice.
  19. I recently bought a PW 2200 for $600. Like the ears says, it's a great buy for the buck. I would bet that an HSU VTF-2 is just as good. Of course we all agree that SVS makes some of the best.
  20. That's a good deal on the servo 15 but I would bet that a CS 20-39+ for $1000 would do more at 20 hz and for $1400 a SVS CS Ultra would be even better.
  21. For the same price as the Klipsch you could look at an HSU VTF-2 or for slightly more a PW 2200.
  22. Here is some of TV's data on those subs as tested by Tom Nousaine. Paradigm PW 2200 (early test) 107.4 /20hz~91db (112.8 peak) Paradigm PW 2200 (most recent test data) 107.4 / 20hz~84db / 25hz 104db / (112.8 peak) SVS 20-39cs(w 300 watts) 109.5 /20hz~91db /25hz~105.8db (approx 118db peaks) You can expect a 5-6db gain from two of the same subs when placed together. I have had a Velodyne HGS 12 and I currently have a Paradigm Pw 2200. I miss the Velodyne's DEEP bass that the PW 2200 lacks but I love the PW 2200 peaks that the HGS 12 lacked. The PW 2200 is a great sub for the price. The PW is not boomy at all and performs well. It is only a matter of time though before I move the PW 2200 to the rear and bring up the front with an SVS CS+ or an SVS CS Ultra. I just read your other post and I see that you can really get a deal on the Paradigm 2200. For what you have to spend I would also suggest the PW 2200's. There really isn't a bunch of stuff out there with less then 25 hz anyway and from there up the 2200's can play with the best of them. This message has been edited by RWMIN on 02-13-2002 at 09:39 PM
  23. Montigue: Have you seen the Toshiba's at Onecall? The price is so good I have seriously been considering one of them. Does anybody have an opinion on the Toshiba? http://ww2.onecall.com/PID_12485.htm
