  1. I believe you when you say this, which is the primary reason I haven't used the ignore function for you. I do believe that your intentions are good and there is nothing malicious in what or how you state your opinions, but as one of the non-contributing lurkers on this thread (and many other similar threads) I have to say, you often come across as smug and condescending. I don't assume you mean to, but... Consider a couple of sentences from your next-to-last post. What I encourage you to do is try your best to put yourself in the place of other followers of the thread and understand how these might come across to them: "I will try my best to explain the concepts better for people interested." "Hope this makes phase a little easier to digest for the lurkers reading and not contributing, heck even the contributing members may learn something." I was going to write a lengthy essay suggesting tools you could use to be a more effective (less offensive) communicator, but realized I was the one sounding smug and condescending, and that isn't helpful to anyone. Suffice it to say, I appreciate your contributions to these threads and feel I learn from you and others in the back and forth. I just encourage you to tone it down a little and engage in friendly dialog about this wonderful hobby of ours without feeling you have to instruct everyone else in the one correct truth...yours. We've got too much of that in the world. Peace
  2. I bought a KA5500 a couple of years ago for my daughter. Someone had replaced the original speaker clips with RCA plugs and done a pretty weird job of wiring them, but I was able to figure it out and made her custom speaker wired to work. It's a sweet little amp.
  3. @Fish Merry Christmas, indeed! Beautiful!
  4. I always liked the Yamaha look of that era, too. To me, they look crisp as opposed to the lush look of Marantz and Sony at the time.
  5. You're setting the bar pretty high for vintage...LOL Very cool!
  6. I like henry4841s answer. Show us what you've got. We'll show it some love.
  7. Welcome to the Klipsch community! I hope you love it here. I suspect you will find plenty of people who will help you feed your curiosity.
  8. Congratulations! $500 seems like a great price...especially if you like how they sound. If at some point you decide you want to update/upgrade these, there are a bunch of people here who can guide you through it. I was teasing you a bit, but I don't begrudge my trip at all. I learned that the Heresy would probably be too small for my room, so the Fortes were a great discovery.
  9. I never made it up to Yellow Knife, but I experienced a couple of really cold winters in Edmonton. Scotch sounds like a good plan.
  10. You're not going to make me feel sorry for you. I had to drive five hours expecting to audition some Heresy's (only one Heritage dealer in our state). When I got there, he didn't have any Heresy's and I ended up with my Fortes for $3,000. I know these are Forte 1s, but I doubt mine are five times as good. Think of your extra two hours as being worth $1,000 an hour. 😄 Looking forward to hearing the results of the trip.
  11. The Chorus is often referred to as a larger version of the Forte. I have Forte llls and love them, but I've never listened to a Chorus, so I can't express an opinion. I'm sure someone will. Like some others have said, though, at $600 you can't really go wrong in trying them for awhile. You should always be able to get your money back if you decide to trade up.
  12. Did you see this thread? https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/204971-cl-forte-clearwater/&tab=comments#comment-2699359
  13. I just finished a book called, Wool, by Hugh Howey. I would call it a dystopian/mystery/adventure, which is not typically my genre of choice, but I recommend it. My new book is, Juliet Naked by Nick Hornby. Hornby is a favorite of mine and this is a re-read.
  14. We're visiting our daughter in southern California (Palos Verdes) and it is currently 51 and hazy at noon, and this will be the high for the day. Back home in Iowa, it is 47 and sunny.
  15. What happens if you replace them with a superior tone wood? Maple? Swamp Ash? 😉
  16. That looks like genuine lead paint, too! Cutting edge, my friend...cutting edge.
  17. I don't know where you live, but these are available in Des Moines, Iowa. https://desmoines.craigslist.org/ele/d/indianola-klipsch-forte-and-kenwood/7415215011.html

  19. Agreed! I tend to fall into the cable is cable camp, but Marvel's response is what I would call "value added". It's just cable, but it will make your job easier.

  21. I'm afraid to ask, too. I think virtually any search can return something connected to porn anymore. LOL
