  1. So which is it? Round magnet, square magnet? K-77-M, K-77-V? Just curious. I have the K-77-M with the square magnets in my 1981 heresy's. I tried searching the forums and didn't come up with an answer Peace, Josh
  2. I would see if I could buy a heresy and just turn it on its side. And maybe then I would try and rearrange the drivers on the front baffle by rotating the squawker and tweeter 90 degrees so you would keep the wider dipersion. Or just use 2 heresy's on their sides. Peace, Josh
  3. lol, My neighbors have all moved out Seriously though, I've never had any noise complaints. My apartment seems to be made out of concrete block with a thick layer of plaster for the walls between the apartments. The guy who lived next door to me was from my college and a pretty nice neighbor. I told him to let me know If I ever bothered him with my music or movies. Right before he moved out I discovered that the only time he even heard me was when I was playing my electric bass at around 115dB. Other than that I try not to play anything very loud after about 10pm. Peace, Josh
  4. I would wonder if the mineral spirits would have an adverse effect on the glue that binds the laminate to the substrate. Peace, Josh
  5. I think I'll stick to surfing. Not so painful and still a whole lot of fun. Peace, Josh
  6. From the review, "Our pulsed power-handling measurements produced a rattle from the woofer cone at 100 Hz with an input of 415 watts into the speaker's 6ohm impedance. At 1,000 Hz, the amplifier's protection circuit tripped at about 715 watts into 19 ohms, before any waveform clipping could be seen. At 10,000 Hz the amplifier clipped while delivering 1,300 watts to the tweeter's 10.5 ohm impedance! Given the high sensitivity of the Forte, these inputs correspond to truly prodigious sound-pressure levels." Peace, Josh
  7. After I oiled my walnut JBL's I let them sit for a while and they felt kind of tacky as well. I then rubbed them down with a dry lint free cloth and kind of buffed the finish. If you have the tacky feel I think it might mean that you have an excess of oil on the surface. You can try wiping them off and then watching to see if they look like they are drying out again, at which point you could put on another coat and let it sit and then rub off the excess. I ended up with quite a few coats soaking into my JBL's over the period of a few days. Peace, Josh
  8. Seriously, The synergy SF-2's at the local(orlando, FL)best buy smoked every other speaker in the store in terms of sound quality and clarity. The ease of which the klipsch played loud was indeed pleasant but since I already own heresy's it was no suprise. From listening to the other speakers the only ones that came close were some of the JBL fake studio series. That sony sub doesn't happen to be a WM-40 does it? I don't really have a personal opinion on any of the subs as I don't have any and don't bother much with them. Peace, Josh
  9. What's digital?? School is alright. Not really that hard though. I must be smart like my old man Peace, Josh
  10. Yup, Bing Crosby it was. The tape machines he used were based off of the germans magnetophones. I believe a Major John Mullin was the officer who had the magnetophones sent back to the states to be examined. He then demonstrated rebuilt versions based on the german schematics at the institute of radio engineers in 1946 and went on to become the recording engineer for Bing Crosby. Peace, Josh
  11. Actually the 33 1/3 is 72 this year. RCA released the first 33 rpm records in 1931. Due to the depression at the time however people didn't seem to feel like buying into a new format. In 1948 Columbia re-introduced the 33 rpm record format to much greater success. 1948 is also the year that RCA released the 45rpm record format. Extra points if you know who was the first commercial artist to use magnetic tape recordings way back in 1947. Peace, Josh

  13. Uh oh, It sounds to me like the 3" horn loaded shoebox contraption might be cutting into the peanut butter subwoofer market. Peace, Josh
  14. lol, He calls the audi engine a work of art. It seems kind of weak for a V8. 300 HP from the turbocharged 2.5L opposing 4 cylinder in the new STI, now that's a work of art. With handling to boot. I have only ridden in a standard 2003 WRX and can say first hand that the thing is incredible on wet pavement. From what I hear the STI is even better. btw, with a retail of about $30,000 USD the STI is not that expensive a sports car. Peace, Josh

  16. Tbrennan, It is those kinds of remarks that makes me sick of these boards. Maybe you hadn't noticed but Tom(rf3iicrazy) was quoting artto when he said that. He was trying to point out that someone was being a little rude to you but instead you were Very rude right back Peace, Josh
  17. I just finished switching the tweeter on my left heresy to a front mount. Now the flare rate of the horn no longer gets cut off so abruptly by the 3/4" baffle. The scariest part of the operation was the dissasembly of the K-77 so I could put the horn on the front of the baffle and then re attach the tweeter assembly from the backside. For now the only difference I can hear in the sound is that the sweet spot is a little bit wider then before. It is a little hard to tell though since I still have to switch the tweeter on the right side. I'll propably do the right one tomorrow since I'm a little tired of dremeling at the moment. I've thought about doing the midrange as well but the hole for the K-700 would take a bit more routeing then the tweeter. I think John Albright said he did this to his LaScala's. Is there anyone else who has done this mod? Peace, Josh
  18. ---------------- worth every dime i alwayz like the bose system i like movie affect you can get in your own living room with out going out " ---------------- That's funny, My friends tell me that the sound at a movie theater doesn't really compare to the sound of my Heresy's. Why try and sound like the movie theater when you can have better Peace, Josh
  19. ---------------- On 6/13/2003 1:03:41 PM MD1032 wrote: Well, I'm just kind of obsessed with bas because hey, if you don't have the low end, you're dead. ---------------- Says who? The main part of the frequency range that we hear is the midrange. Klipsch speakers are not known for having the boomy bass you would hear coming out of a lowrider honda civic with bling-bling rims, klipsch are known for their well defined articulate sound. btw, a two way system would be theoretically more "Hi-Fi" then a three way system. With a three way you are splitting your sound in two places, with a two way only once. The closer to "full range" you can get with a single driver the less you are altering the sound This seems to be the reasoning of the lowther crowd. Peace, Josh
  20. Dean, My commoners brain is trying to figure out if the silver/+ copper/- would make a difference if switched the other way. I thought that since an amplifier puts out AC that half of the time the current would be flowing to the speaker from the amp on the silver and the other half of the time it would be flowing to the speaker from the amp on the silver wire. Would the excursion be effected by the fact that one half of the speaker lead had a lower resistance? I do believe that different wires can have varying sounds. I tried some solid core copper as speaker wire with my heresy's Just some thoughts I had. Nice looking work by the way. Peace, Josh
  21. Congratulations, Those look gorgeous. Peace, Josh
