  1. Oh man, you took it up a level and I am having trouble keeping up. Ok, let's see, I found this on one of them internets. 'What does Picayune mean in French? Its name derives from the French picaillon, which is itself from the Provençal picaioun, the name of an unrelated small copper coin from Savoy. By extension, picayune can mean "trivial" or "of little value"." I just realized that after twenty years, this is the first time that I learned something on this forum.
  2. Its a joke. Here you go, right from the internets: 'The Comic Premise is the gap between comic reality and real reality. Pick a normal, real reality – then pick a reality that conflicts or does not fit with that reality. Using the tool of exaggeration is great here.'
  3. For $800 a pair I see JBL pro cabs with two 15" woofers for sale on a regular basis.
  4. come on now, you expect me to read the ad??? 18" woofer from 37 to 600 hz, wouldn't a 15" be better because it would move faster?
  5. Big Ole Cerwin Vega horn subwoofers - 141 db: https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/ele/d/las-vegas-cervin-vega-el36-subwoofer/7527354887.html
  6. That was the only piece of info that I was going to post. That is all that you need. I made slant stands for L100s and used seven degrees. We just kept trying different shims until the angle looked good.
  7. Shhhhhh. Be nice and very delicate, I think he might be a woke millennial speaking in Tic Tok. They are very fragile. 🤣
  8. The base that holds the bass driver....duh!!! I like to give out my trade secrets so maybe Klipsch will do the same with their $35K speakers.
  9. My first Klipsch speakers were KLF 30s, had them for less than 24 hours, took em back because they sounded so harsh. Bought K Horns about 5 years later. Turns out is was my late 80's CD player that made the KLFs sound so bad.
  10. Cambridge makes nice stuff. You are starting at a pretty high plateau, just enjoy for awhile.
  11. I knew it was a longshot. We had a nice August with one month of monsoons, but now it is hot and some humidity so yea, not too fun.
  12. NIce, I have always wanted to try a pair of Sonus Farber.
  13. I always thought about that. If a resistor gives off heat, they it is getting the energy from somewhere. But then again, the higher impedance should help the amp even if it is putting out more power because it needs the resistance. The analogy that I like is trying to blow through a 2" straw, you run out of air quickly.
  14. Street Price in the 90s: I bought new KLF 30s for $1K in the late 90s - but I got a really good deal.
  15. I think that it is really very simple. Roy designed a speaker a certain way. When people make changes they will change the sound, and guess who gets blamed when they make them worse? 'Klipsch speakers suck, blah blah blah' when it wasn't even what they did. ALK had the same issue. He said that people were building his universals with lesser parts and then blaming him. I am not saying that people do not make them better, but this is the same as when Klipsch licensed their designs in the early years and it had to come to an end. I see this in my profession where people who have no knowledge or skill at all have taken my work and made a huge mess of it by 'just making a few changes'. I have emailed others to tell them that this is not my work as I don't want the stink attached to my name. So I fully appreciate Roy's POV. At the same time I have never used Klipsch approved caps so I 'assume the risk' when I redo crossovers. I like modding in all of my hobbies.
  16. Funny story. My wife and I research things like crazy to try to learn what is going on. My sister in law put her husband on a 'ketosis diet' I thought that is was funny because there is no way that he is giving up refined carbs and that will take him right out. I am picturing him eating huge plates of bacon and then going out for cake. We went to visit and it was completely different than what I thought. She was buying products that said 'keyto' on the label and feeding it to him. One was like peanut butter but chocolate flavor, all of it basically candy. My wife explained this to her sister and she was not happy. Funny what people think is healthy.
  17. Simpson strong tie has strips of metal with holes along it. Two of those and some bolt sand thumbscrews should do the trick if you cannot find the brackets.
  18. Got a a few scraps of wood, a chopsaw, drill, hacksaw and can of black spray paint? https://www.homedepot.com/b/Building-Materials-Building-Hardware-Corner-Braces/N-5yc1vZc8hr I was just at the Home Depot last night buying brackets for a different project. They have some really nice heavy brackets that can be cut down.
  19. I condensed my weights to three days a week. I work opposite groups with no break in between (ex shoulders and back). This is a combo cardio and weight workout. The two other days I do cardio, use an elliptical and do intervals, 80 sec fast 100 seconds slow, for 1/2 hour. Put in a TV and stream youtube and it goes fast.
  20. The old pipe will screw in but the newer square thread pipes will only go in about 1/2 turn before you need to force them. I really do not want to have to cut the drywall on the other side and replace the fitting in the wall. Oddly, both the old and new pipes screw into the showerhead easily.
  21. I want to replace a shower arm from the connection in the wall to the shower head. I bought a $10 arm on Amazon and had to return it. The threads are not sharp and I could not screw it into the fitting in the wall. I did not want to force it. So I ordered a Moen arm from the Home Depot. In the picture you can see nice sharp threads. https://www.moen.com/products/Moen/Moen-Chrome-6-Shower-Arm-Shower-Arm-with-1-2-Inch-IPS-Connections-6-L-x-75-W-x-75-H-/10154 But what I received looks just like the Chinese arm. Look at the threads, they are square on top rather than the sharp threads that you usually see on pipe threads. Have pipe threads changed? I do not want to force anything and these threads will need a bunch of Teflon tape and will need to be forced.
  22. I have been fasting by accident for many years by not really eating after 6:30 and again at about 9:30, but we eat a small breakfast because 'it is the most important meal of the day' We are likely going to stop eating breakfast and eat at our desks at say 11:00. I am still reading David Sinclair's book. A million buck's worth!
  23. It took me a long time and lots of research and reading to learn about nutrition. I am still learning and will never stop. It would be nice if the government actually just put out good data and guidelines instead of nutritional advice made by lobbyist. I do not doubt your results at all. I am sure that many people have cured chronic illness following his advice. Here is what I said in my original post said another way. He recommends a very clean diet which will stop an 'illness' that is caused by constant exposure to irritants. Get rid of the junk and eat nutritious food and most chronic conditions will be solved. This is what we all need to do. The problem is his weird advice about olive oil and other foods are not necessary and like 'adding a little witchcraft' to otherwise good advice. In any event, if it works for you I commend you for following through as solving any medical problem is a positive thing. Most people do not have any discipline so you are a good example as you made the effort and. followed through. I am glad to see that you have improved your life. We are all on the same team. When a person sees a doctor and has chronic problems, the first thing to figure out is what garbage do you eat and fix that to get a proper baseline. Once that is fixed then move on to what remains as many conditions will resolve. Other factors are sleep, exercise, stress and are you doing anything that you enjoy (hobbies, social interaction, etc.), but our society is not ready for doctors or 'healthcare professionals' to address these items at a checkup.
  24. I do not agree on the carbs. Refined carbs, yes, poison, get rid of them. But veggies are your friend and are also carbs. You need to eat a lot of them. I go the Asian route and eat mostly vegetables, with small amounts of organic meat (and not every day). I also eat brown rice just about every day. Oils - olive oil - regular to cook, virgin to use as a topping, sesame seed oil as a topping, coconut oil, and I also eat a lot of avocados and unsalted unroasted nuts and seeds. Drinks - water. Two cups of coffee per day and occasionally a beer of glass of wine (very occasionally) I will post more when I have more time, but out trash is interesting. In one week, we produce about on small grocery bag of trash, and if we were to compost, it would take about three times as long. It also takes us a few months to fill the recycle bin. The reason, we don't but any prepared or processed foods, Just mostly veggies. Winco has a bulk section and we have a bunch of mason jars that we put the items in (for spices, nuts, raisins, etc.) Watch your trash, if you are filling it up with shinny boxes claiming that the crap inside is 'healthy' stop eating it.
