  1. I was there and I have no idea ? But I can tell you I was able to watch him work when I was able, He is very good, and very good with people. He knows how to get what he wants in the picture and be funny. The biggest surprise to me was how hard he works, he runs the show, keeps everything running smooth and organized, if he did not take the pictures you would think he was a wedding planner ! If it wasn't for Michael it would have taken all night we were so disorganized. THIS GUY IS GOOD, REALLY GOOD, and fun to watch, you have to see it, it's to much to explain ! All of this from someone who gives himself very little credit for how much talent and personality he has ! All of this from a guy you are proud to say is your friend ! I can't thank you enough for the work you did for us, but more important we had a chance to get to know you and that came first, and the best part by far ! THANK YOU........
  2. Meagain, it was a Yamaha rxv 730, It does fine for movies or concert dvd's but for 2 CH it's just dull ! This Harmon Kardon just kills the Yamaha for good ole 2 CH. So now the Yamaha does the multi channel stuff with the 6 Forte's and sub, and the Harmon K does the 2 CH with just the Cornwall lll's. We listen to much more music than watch movies, even more now.
  3. Michael and I hooked everything up. I stepped back to listen and started towards the sub woofer to turn it off and realized it wasn't on and it wasn't even connected, the subwoofer is on a totally different system. That's when I got the big smile on my face. After sitting down and listening I am amazed at the difference in sound compared to a "modern" home theater receiver. It is hard to believe that someone would do something like this for someone without ever meeting them. That is what makes this forum so different from all the others. If you stay around this forum long enough you will see people do things like this for each other all the time, it's not that unusual here. I really do appreciate your gift and if there is anything I can ever do for you please let me know. My wife told me it was okay to tell you what happened. She was listening to the new setup, when I asked her what she thought about it I noticed she was crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said, we are really lucky to have people care enough to do something like this for us without ever having met us. Between Michael spending the week with us, photographing the triple wedding, the gift of the receiver from arfandbark and the wedding itself, emotions are running high. After it was all done, Michael had a big smile on his face and said "I knew this was going to happen, because I knew what it would sound like, but I wanted it to be a surprise for you." You should have seen all of our faces, including Michael when we read your post about giving us the receiver as a gift, and refusing reimbursement for the shipping. Everyone in the house was shocked. I am serious, if there is anything I can ever do for you, please let me know. I spent thirty minutes sitting here composing a post and it was all "erased". This was pieced together somewhat from the post that was erased. I will be posting more later as I get in more listening time. The sound is completely different from what I have been hearing from my Cornwall III's. It is much better than I could have hoped for. This gift will be listening enjoyment to everyone here, as well as anyone that visits. Even "dtel's niece" said she could hear a big difference in the way the speakers sound and the HK you gave us is roughly the same age she is!! My brother in law was sitting in the living room, not really paying attention until we turned the HK on and then he said, "Those speakers are really amazing". In twenty eight years I have never heard him comment on anything audio. Thanks again for the wonderful gift.
  4. Arfandbark We have been very busy, I asked Michael to post last night and let you know it arrived, we were on the way to the airport to pick him up and my son in law brought in in for us. I apologise for not posting sooner that is my fault, you really have know idea how much I appreciate you giving me the chance to try this HK. We have been very busy , but that is know excuse, I really appreciate this. We will try it out to tomorrow , but just looking at it I know it will run circles around my Yamaha I use for HT, really excited to try it out. Michael only has a few days here so I want to try to show him everything he would like to see while he is here. One of those thing's is what the Cornwall lll's will sound like with this HK. The Cw lll is one of the few things that Michael does not have at home to listen too !
  5. Arfanbark, I have to apologize to you I have been VERY busy, this is the first time I had a chance to get on the forum. THANK YOUI ! The HK arrived perfect, To be honest I have not had a chance to try it, it's in very good condition. Tomorrow evening we will try it out, I really can't wait. The only reason it has not been done yet is Coltephoto only has a few days here and we are trying to squeeze in everything we want him to see while he is here. You have no idea how much I appericate this chance to hear this HK on the Cornwall lll's, we have just not stopped long enough to rearrange some stuff and sit and listen to it. I will let you know what happens when we do. Thanks , can't wait. More to come.
  6. Good idea with the mouse traps, they can do alot of damage. I had a Chevy work truck that I had the motor rebuilt in, while the motor was out and the truck never moved a mouse got in it. One day when the motor was being put back in I had looked in the glove box and found some papers had been chewed on, so I set a trap and caught one in a few days. The truck went back to work and about 6 months or so later it caught on fire " In " the dash board and burned to the point that the back tires even melted. I don't know if the mouse caused the fire or not, but it could have chewed on some wires and eventually they shorted out and started the fire. That was my best guess, because we had the truck for years with no electrical problems.

    Dish Network

Dish Network's HD package, Voom, is worth the money, IMO. You might want to try it out Arky. A lot of good concerts.[] One thing, don't call DishNetwork at night, hardly anyone speaks English. And...sometimes you have to "operator shop" with them, they must have a high turnover rate. Once our service was established everything went smoothly. I have a plasma being delivered Tuesday so i'll upgrade to HD shortly. I have an old (18yrs) Toshiba rptv that just won't die & I have been holding out. How is the sound quality on the concerts? I guess DD 5.1 at best. JT The sound quality is very close to a DVD, It is 5.1, never really looked to see if it is ever 6.1. Watching John Mayer right now on Rave, on HDNET Sunday night they have some music specials, STYX is playing " one with everything" is the name of the concert from 8 to 10 pm. Robert Plant is on Rave next for an hour show, seen part of it last week, good show, probably look for the DVD. The plasma & HD box are now in use. The VIP 622 receiver is pretty neat. One box with 2 tuners (only 1 carrying a HD signal). It displays tons more info than my old box & the picture is incredible, even enhanced the 2nd TV (SD) video quality. I don't see Voom as a specific pkg. Looks like I get 24 HD channels. HDnet has some music & RAVE is all concerts, am I missing any other concert channels? Thanks BTW...did you know you guys are gonna get married soon?[] That's about it, HDnet has some music on Sunday night and occasionally there is some music on other channels. Dish just has some of the channels left over from when Voom went out of business, but I don't think they call it the Voom pkg. It's sad that the the way the new HD TV's are being pushed there is not more programing in HD. 24 Hd channels, I need to go check how many I get . sounds like I am missing a few , do you get locals in HD ?
  10. Kind of an elaborate sound diffuser you have next to that speaker don't you think ? Thats one way to sell the wife on some Heritage, Look how nice they hold a bow !
  11. Yes last year we did have name tags, It's kind of strange to walk up to someone and start talking to them and then look down and see their name tag and then you realize who they are. The person never fits the impression you had in your mind of what you thought they would look like ! Thanks Homemade, they do sound very good. Any one who is thinking about going, you will not be sorry.
  12. Yes Congratulations! About the resale thing, I hate it even more when you see empty cabinets, then all the drivers and crosovers all in different auctions from the same person. They tear them apart to make a few extra dollars.
  13. That may not be carpet, but it is perfect !
  14. Glad your ok, thanks for the service, your going back ?
  15. I can see it's going to be a rough weekend !
  16. IB Going, Tim. BUT, the old hide will accompany me on the 2007 trip. (she is my golden ear, and speaks her (ear) mind ) Gulp! Can't wait for her comments on an RF-7 system at volume. Shudder! Needless to say, I can't take her out for audio very often. So, as one AR. delegation, we four will be taking two vehicles. Perhaps we could meet in the Rock and Lynn could ride with Seti? .......Or I could ride with him? On second thought, No, I wouldn't do that to buddies like the you & Seti. You guys would never be the same. [] Many thanks for the offer of transportation, but could I ask help from both of you in taming the audio shrew" when we get there? Thanks in advance.[] BTW: She will bring fever per your request. Regards, tc So...Lynn??? will be making the trip. Let's see, does Indy have a "French Quarter"?.[] She will be in Indy and you two will hit it off. The "French Quarter" is anywhere that Lynn happens to be at the time.[D][<)][A] dtel, we should consider bringing extra cash....... not sure if out of state Bail Bond companys accept credit cards and personal checks. BUT HOLD ON, maybe we could just leave.............anyway, we should talk when the time gets a little closer......[] Regards, tc We can have a good time but let's keep the law and bail bonds out of the fun if at all possible. []
  17. To big for the wife, offer to help her put up there where it goes, that's all ,then she can leave you alone about it !... And you won't ask her to move it again ! []
  18. I would say get the speakers, probably less of a chance of finding speakers close. Tubes can be shipped easier than 2 large speakers, just guessing ?
  19. Our cat has disappeared for a few days in the past and always came back. I have also heard of cats disappearing for a few days if they are sick. Hope she comes back soon.
  20. I think you are on to something there Dee !
  21. Yes Daddy Dee , very cool. I have to say something here, when i first put my question here looking for opinions it was to make sure I was heading in the right direction. But no that was not good enough for the people here, they want to loan me amps and receivers to try ! This is not your average forum and surely not your average people on this forum. Like when we went to Hope and met over 100 forum members and some Klipsch employees. We had never met even one of these people in person and everyone was very nice. You could walk up to anyone and ask a question and they would stop what they doing and help with an answer. We spent the weekend with a group of people we had never seen in person, and can't wait to do it again next year. Thanks for all the offers, everything that was offered to me to try could have been sold, but they offered to loan it to me to try and make nothing, just to help me. Not your average group of people on this forum ! I have seen many people help others here, it is nothing new. So thanks again, and just to say it again, if I can help in some way down the road just let us know.
  22. Arfandbark are you serious, yes I would like to try it, Let me know where to send shipping money . One question if I wanted to keep it is it for sale ? The people on this forum are unbelievable, more on this later !
  23. Thanks for all the opinions, if you put them all together that's what I have been thinking, except the flower and dinner thing with the wife, she is always first before any of this stuff anyway. The little T amps had very good reviews everywhere I read even compared to much more expensive amps, up to about 6 WPC. And with Clll's that may be enough power, on paper at least ? An older receiver also has some advantages, more power, some have good tuners and many people like the sound quality, they can also be connected to a few more inputs. Although they can be expensive to fix if I get one that does not work or breaks. I had , and gave away years ago a Sansui 8080, the lights had went out and it was $80 per hour to fix 15 years ago. There was only one place that would service it within 150 miles. I should have kept it the sound was the best I had ever had ! Well Michael will be here next week and he can listen and help with speaker placement and give me an opinion on how I listen and how many WPC I would need. Most of the listening I do is not really that loud because of all the people living here and a daughter that is an RN and works a few nights a week and has to sleep in the day. But sometimes I have a chance to listen with some volume, if I am lucky maybe once a week. It's not as bad as it sounds, it's really me not wanting to bother the others , no one has complained and I do get a fair volume. Whatever I decide to try it doesnt mean it's permanent ! You know how that works, there is always better to be had with more $ later.................Thanks
