  1. Jerohm, after looking at your pics is that speaker mounted like that in your living/family room? Just asking because i have the rear Forte ll's mounted like that and everyone that has seen the livingroom looks at them [ how can you miss them ] . No one has made a comment but i know that they think i must be nuts, We should be trying to hide speakers if you watch commercials, I figure if my wife don't complain the rest of the opinions don't count.
  2. I did, and it was an absolute pain in the *** ... which is why I ended up cutting it out with a rotary (type) saw. The original motor board sits is a channel cut into each side of the cabinet walls. It also has ~3/4" square braces that fame right behind it. The motor board is glued in the channel and glued/stapled to these frame braces (and the cabinet sides). Cutting out the original and creating a new motor board (from it) that attached as a 'cap' proved to be the most practical solution. Since the horns flush mount from the front, creating new horn holes is not exactly trivial (for me anyway). The original motor board is no-void high quality plywood, so creating a strong frame wasn't really an issue (for the cabinet maker anyway). Ok i see what you are talking about , i diden't catch it the first time. After looking back at the pictures i see. Avoiding the channel and bracing and glue would be much better. Thanks all for the ideas, it looks like it would be worth turning the horns. The room is 24' wide and 18' deep and the center and rears cover a wide area 24' so turning the horns would help more than if the room was skinny, it seem's so .Sounds like it makes sense anyway!
  3. Another good idea, that looks like it might be easier if i can cut and route the original motherboard without removing it. Then just route another circle to fill, and mount horns in it. The worse case if i mess up is i would have to remove the mb and replace with a new one with circle already cut. I like the circle idea because you could change back with just a few bolts!
  4. Almost forgot, after looking at your pic's i must turn the horns,It has to sound better like that. Nice job.
  5. That's a good idea but how hard is it to remove the original motherboard ,thats what i was concerned about. Did you remove it or did the cabinet maker remove it. I do some woodworking so a new motherboard is not a problem. But sometimes with wood that is glued together it has to be broken apart and never comes apart clean, or where you would want it to.
  6. This might be a crazy idea but, could i just use a piece of wood that would cover the two horns plus a few extra inches and cut out new holes that would let the horns be turned so the speaker could lay down. And just glue the new wood over the old holes so the back of the horns would pass thru the old holes without cuting the motherboard and with any luck clear the grill. [ hard to explain] Mounting horns on a new piece of wood over the original holes so it could be changed back later if needed. Hope it makes a little sense, i can picture it in my head but can't explain to well.
  7. I now have 4 Forte ll's and no center, set to phantom. I think i may have a line on 2 of the original Forte's for $300 local. So the plan for now is get the1's for the rear and use all Forte ll's across the front, leaving an extra Forte ll for maby rear center? I could always sell off the original Forte's if i run across another pair of ll's.

Who said anything about dating ?
  9. I like DIY because i would give up more space in the room to save more money, but i would never try without a proven plan. What the Ear said could not be more true,I have seen DRWHO try to help someone hear plan a diy sub and there is so many combinations of box sizes ,ports, pr,and points it could be tuned to, and thats just with one drivers specs. Without measurments you would be lucky to end up sounding like the average car sub booming along.
  10. If Delaware was not so far from Mississippi i would buy today.
  11. The best center would be another Forte, after that Academy. I don't know of others but someone will join in with some more answers. I don't think any of the new or ref would match at all. Do you have room for another Forte as a center , im asking because 2 more Fortes would cost about the same as as an Academy. There is one other that is not far off from a perfect match but i can't recall the name but i think Colterphoto has one in use Although Colter has Almost any Klipsch or has heard them,he may jump in hear and give some advice. Glad you came to this forum, People hear can answer just about any question you could think of, and it don't have to be about Klipsch they have tried about anything out there.
  12. My vote would also be th Yamaha, I have the RXV 730 and it has 2 zones, only paid $500 a couple years ago. If i were to buy another reciever it would be Yamaha or HK.
  13. I think Fish cut right through the BS " If it ain't musical who cares if its accerate " If it's not musical you will not listen very long. I think the "recording" is where the real answers come from more than anything else. I like live dvd concerts, the first one i ever bought was Eagles HFO. As i played it the first time from the start it has interviews that lead into the concert. Just before the concert started their was some music playing and i said to my wife i sure hope it sounds better than this, if not it's back to cd's. But when the concert started it was totaly different, like going from 8 track to dvd. And some dvd's i have sound like 8 tracks, i can't even listen no matter how much i like the music. The quality of music is very hard to put into words and may sound different to the person siting next to you.
  14. Just what i was thinking, Thanks Steve If it means anything this is the only place i have ever posted on the internet, no intrest to post anywhere else. Klipsch, News, Radar, Reviews / prices, is all i ever use the net for.
  15. I should have read a little more before buying, but i did find Klipsch because of those Synergy's ! Some good did come of those 5 Synergy speakers, I gave them to a family friend this past Christmas. His first HT and now he is hooked on Klipsch! [] It starts again. 3- 1- 2003 " Thank you all,for advice even though yall didnt know i was listening. finally decided to ask a question. I just bought some klipsch, finally. sb3 ss1 sc1 to replace some old baby advents and pro logic reciever. I now need a new reciever, i like the yamaha rxv 630 by reviews only. i have no place to compare side by side."
  16. Colter: " had some buddies over tonight and BLEW THEM AWAY with the LS/CW/THX system. Now it finally rocks! " And this is from a guy who knows rock, ask DRWHO. I can't recall Michael this excited in a long while, it has to sound VERY good. Really glad to hear this, sometimes it takes something like this to get one excited about music again, couldn't have happend to a nicer guy.
  17. I Don't know if you need any more grunt labor but if my plan works out, I'll be arriving Wednesday night and once I wake up Thursday morning & get my breakfast, I'll be available for gruntwork. (arriving Wednesday night so I'll have some time to relax after the drive & not be exhausted for the fun) So, if you need any help, just tell me what to do, where to go and I'll get'er done. We should get in town Thursday evening and will help if anything is left to do. Something needs to be setup so when we get into town we know where to go if help is needed, never been to Hope.
  18. I always thought to ask if anybody here has ponds, never did. But after reading here i see some do, ponds is how we got started landscaping. We don't do many ponds anymore but we still grow some bog plants and tropical water lillies to sell to " ponders ". We have about three acres with 10 ponds on it, one pond for each color lillie. each pond is about 20' x 40'. Will post a pic soon of a pond full of lillies with all the flowers. But the land in this thread is what we always wanted, a little more nerve and alot more money and we would give it all up and start over in Tennesee for land like that.
  19. Very nice ,'sounds' like a fun job. Never had a chance to meet Trey but will in a couple of months, can't wait.
  20. Fini: Sometimes trying a new position can be uncomfortable for fiances Now that sounds like Fini. Good luck Clarence[au]
  21. Have not been here in a few days, sorry to hear of this , it does get better over time, think of the good times he would like that.
  22. We have all the work we can handle { landscaping } because we give fair prices. We do beds, trees, plants, irrigation, only grade and fill when we must. To bad you don't live close i could spread it for free , now i can't make dirt you would have to buy that. Around here it's under $150 for 21 yards.
  23. Raised in Lousiana then moved to Mississippi almost two different versions of english neither is correct, still have not got a grip on it yet. The Louisiana version is english/french more of one or the other depending on where your at, or where yat. The Mississippi version is english/ ?/ redneck/hillbilly , not sure yet. I have ran across people who had so much french mixed in i could hardly understand them , Not real french kind of a cajun french, and anyone that has lived around south Louisiana knows what i am talking about. Never even brought up the New Orleans way of speaking, it is different . Not even counting that i didn't have to write a letter or type in 30 years for any job i have had i would be the last person on this forum to judge the way someone types or spells.
  24. Hmmmm. You have now announced that fact to about a billion net surfers worldwide. Better stay home.[] Rick After the storm there is 9 people living here someone is always here, no need to lock the door, probably loose the key again.
  25. " My solution for home security is a romanian NOS AK-47 under my bed, and good insurance. If I'm home, between the rottweiler and me, we'll be safe. If I'm gone, I get all new stuff from the insurance company. SWEET! " Sounds good to me. Living out in the country helps, about two years ago we lost the front door key, never used it, left the door unlocked and went on vacation for a week. If they want to get in they will.
