  1. Ben, I sent you a pm, and good luck with the changes! Dave
  2. Now that Klipsch has a new website and many new advertising chances, it is time to revisit an old advertising campaign. Just in time to ride a multimillion dollar advertising pitch for the second of three Hobbit movies directed by Peter Jackson, Klipsch should announce they also will revisit a classic Hobbit pitch - that is, Bilbo sitting atop a beloved LaScala II speaker, contentedly smoking a pipe with some good Mexican LongBottom leaf. Come on guys and gals, we love our Heritage. Can we get a shout out from Klipsch for a beloved pride of ownership T, or will we just be politely ignored?
  3. Clockmakers are cool! http://www.chonday.com/Videos/the-writer-automaton
  4. $700 pretty much is market. Your niche is vintage historical Klipsch collectors, which is NOT a large market. Modern speakers do a much better job with sound quality, so there is always a debate between these and their real offspring - Cornwalls. Cornwalls will win every sound war, and generally start around $800. That is the bar.
  5. Please note, a Heresy would be a H-SR. A theater Heresy would be TH-SR. This old gent did not scam you.You didn't know what you were buying, and you didn't know enough. That does not make it a scam.
  6. You weren't scammed, you didn't ask the right questions here before buying, you didn't know enough, and you did pay high market for Theater Heresies. That is called not doing your homework, not "I've been scammed."
  7. First thing these are not mine, but n acquaintance over on the Audiheritage board. They will need a little work. They are in the Washington DC area. Here is the ad.. http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?34808-Altec-Lansing-Model-19s-950
  8. Albert was out of the box all his life, so he has little problem with that jar.
  9. He reminded me of about a third of my friends at Nuclear Power School. It is interesting his parents have figured out they have a pair of geniuses, and moved to help their kids. Now the story remains to be written on how well he figures things out on his own. If you want to read about similar burning passion and smarts that has not gone well after a similar start, google nuclear boy scout.
  10. John, thanks for sharing your experience. I have seen hospice in action, just never directly with a loved one. I absolutely was awed by a hospice nurse that brought in a plate of warm home made chocolate chip cookies, along with the morphine dose, to a friend. It was 180 degrees from what I had seen the week prior in an ICU setting. You validated all that I have observed indirectly.
  11. There are some things that are better than costly medical care at the end of life. Knowing you are surrounded by loved ones, being able to lucidly communicate with your kids and grandkids, being comfortable and loved, are all good things. I have been in and around hospitals all my life. Dad was a GP, two brothers and three cousins are as well, wife and seven cousins are nurses. Spending my last days in an ICU, surrounded by knobs and tubes, in a cold and strange place filled with metal and chemical smells, would not be an environment of my choosing. It is very, very difficult to walk your final days in pain and terror of a new journey. Would it be a benefit to have a person of the cloth to talk with your mom?
  12. Let me say nother good word about hospice care. Of all the forms of medical care, hospice is the only one of hospital, nursing home, and private care that specifically is trained for the spiritual and medical care of patients and family. For a family member who is afraid of the next journey, hospice will be the only one that does not actively fight against death, but accepts that death is coming, and seeks to comfort and frame how one passes from life. If you and your siblings are not capable or willing to help your mom in understanding, it is not fair to expect her doctors, nurses, and hospital or nursing home to be capable of doing such. Please note this is distinctly seperete from the issue of paying for her care, for which I also have strongly held belief. It is hurtful to run up hard against the death panel at any time, whether you have the money to chase after more care, or have no money at all. I pray and hope that you can use hospice at some time, as it will help all of you and your mom to realize the meaning of her life and gain perspective of the meaning of her passing. God graces all of us, may he give your mom the peace of leaving with love.
  13. After fifty two years of living with a spouse, do you think you dad doesn't need a companion for his last years? These situations did not go unplanned with your folks, tho you may not have known about the discussions. If you kids can foster a living trust and amiacably agree to a preplanned division of the estate assets, with buy-in from Dad and future stepmother, you all end up with the best of both worlds. Your dad can enjoy his remaining years in the company of a woman he and Mom were comfortable with, and you kids don't get any unpleasant surprises. Sounds like you all need a good round of communicating.
  14. http://www.decware.com/cgi-bin/yabb22/YaBB.pl?num=1329274625 I see your travails, but don't see anything about a transformer. Was this purchased as a kit by the previous owner? I have had numerous kits through our house, and the Decware ST84 was quite adept during its stay. BTW, here is Steve's addy and phone number. He has always worked very hard to be responsive. 15. Holy sheeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. It is prima vera, but was carried on the books of many companies in the 50s and 60s as (white) mahogany. It was cheaper than the unrelated real mahogany, which at the time was itself also cheaper than oak and walnut. Supply lead times, and tastes, were the only significant factors that kept the US from being swamped with prima vera speakers. []
  17. With the mods, will it play well with a Denon DL-301 low output MC cartridge? Thanks
  18. Yea, Dean, it's a shame. He has had some of the best kit projects around, but his business practices are horrendous.
  19. From an AK thread... http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=528687 " Ron Welborne is still at it only has moved to Stillwater, Ok. Take 15 min.s to get this slime ball out of bussiness Just so you know I have posted on 1 other site & have 19 contacts allready & only been at it a week. Thanks there are to many good people out there to do bussiness with. almost forgot if you should want to talk to him heres his phone number but if history repeats itself he will turn it change it but you only get his answer machine because hes a coward. 405-612-04xx" This is the third round, so think five times before using his services. For those of you whom he has done similar in the past, it may be worth it to file with the AG office so he gets shut down, finally.
  20. Boxx, he is using his best Clint Eastwood "Make my day" scowl as a sendup. Two seconds later, he was again laughing and joking.
  21. A new bench seat for Liam!
  22. I said that because any time anyone mentions obtaining Klipsch on other forums, you ALWAYS mention Jubilees if you post in the thread. Including the guy who had $500 and was thinking of Fortes. It's fine when when within the scope of purchase, but when brought up all the time, and recommended for consideration when thousands over budget, multiple friends have indicated in passing that excessive Klipsch shilling is almost as bad as the Bose bashing. You may want to slack off a little, so your positive comments regain an appropriate level of credence. YMMV
  23. Oscar, Mike Stehr is just outside Spokane and probably is interested. I shot him a pm.
