At some point I have to change gears to Blu ray but it just doesn't seem worth the extra $10 to me. I'll probably look back in a few years and think I was dumb... not the first time!!!

You probably won't look back and think you were dumb cause they will be much cheaper then. Since I went Bluray, I haven't watched many movies on SD. I believe there is definitely $10 difference (in picture and sound quality) if not more.

I have a Sony S350 BD player, I just don't buy BDs! I have rented two mostly to see if my system worked with the new codecs. One was I am Legend and the other was The Dark Knight. I guess if the movie looks like it will have awesome sound effects I'll rent BD but for most movies I'll just get DVDs (seems like the less BDs to rent here, more DVDs in stock) or watch the movie via streaming video. Much cheaper to watch it on Netflix but the picture quality isn't as good (720p) and the SQ really isn't as good. My receiver can matrix the 2 channel to 5.1 with one of the Dolby's it has and it sounds OK. Again not for every movie but for a comedy or chick flick its fine. I've noticed that a lot of kid's movies have awesome surround sound in them!!!

LOL, ya that's me in my avatar. I'm with Youthman. I also think that BD is worth the 10 extra bucks. I always rent them first if I've never seen them before though. (they were out of bond and bolt BD) I've bought too many dvd's without seeing them first, and they end up sucking......... And obviously you can't return an open movie............

I have NetFlix 1 at a time unlimited movies per month with Blu-Ray enabled. All but one of the 30 movies in my queue are going to come on Blu-Ray. Its an extra dollar per month for Blu-Ray with NetFlix. I think it is very well worth it. If you want to buy Blu-Rays on the cheap go to half.com.

I revived my Netflix account yesterday to take advantage of the downloading with our xbox 360 and also selected the one at a time with Blu Ray enabled.

Since I bought Quantum of Solace on DVD I'll get it from Netflix as a BD and watch them both to compare the difference in sound and picture. I sit back 12' from my 52" TV and I've read at that distance you really can't tell the difference between the two anyway but maybe the sound quality will be better.

what youthman and tommyboy said - I agree, worth the extra $10

i watched the movie last nite - actually watched casino royall and then Qof Solace - i enjoyed them both. I dont generally watch Bond movies but I enjoyed these two, but I was also surrounded by quality people so the night was always going to be good, regardless of the movies.

I did notice that Solace had better sound quality than Royall they were both viewed on Bluray and PS3 at someone elses house.

Outstanding movie...

I agree, side surrounds were low on this one too? Why, I do not know? I am glad someone else thought so too!

As for lower bass OMG Incredible!

I still need to understand some of the storyline as this builds on the previous movie too. Maybe watch the old one, then this one back to back might help?

The new "James Bond" has grown on me for sure! ,

Got a chance to rent it yesterday afternoon and watched it last night. Wraps up the "loose ends" from Casino Royale, for sure. Sounds good on "all channel stereo" as well as some of the surround modes. Pretty good movie. Plot was a little weak, but I think it was more to establish the new "bad guy" organization for Bond to go after.

Very unimpressd with this movie. I bought the bluray edition. The plot, what there was of it, sucked. Good effects and image quallity. The movie lacked strength because of the subdued roles of the supporting actresses. Nothing as clever or brilliant in the character interaction and interplay as with Craig's first Bond movie, Casino Royale...

Wow what a great movie, its worth the $20 for sure! I have to say these Quintet's and the Sub-12 do a great job with movies, I'm worried how much better movies will sound when I upgrade?

And it begins! My system profile has changed about 3 times in the last 5 months. So like Youthman said, be very afraid!!!

I really liked this movie. Action was intense even before the opening credits. DTS HD Master Audio was incredible. I recognized Jack White voice right away, havent checked out the extra yet. Can not wiat to see the music video.

The scene where they fall thru the glass actually made me feel like I was falling.

I watched it Friday night, then Saturday night I was just going to watch the opening scene again and just could not stop until I had seen it for a second time.

I watched Casnio Royale on BD and DVD... D@MN I can't lie to myself anymore. BD is a lot better both in PQ and SQ.

I do pay the extra for BDs from Netflix and will have to start buying BDs instead. I hope whatever replaces BD in a month or two still plays DVDs and BDs!!!

Just finished watching and this new James Bond is much better than the others. He plays a very physically active part in the movie unlike the other Bonds.

The story did contain a lot of information and I'd have to watch it again to follow the story line a bit more closely.

Very good......[~]
