jhoak
Anyone have the A/4500 schematic? I'm curious about a couple of the values. THANX!
Groomlakearea51
Ask Bob Crites (BEC on the forum - bobcrites@mac.com). I can take pictures, but not until tonight. I'm located in Okeechobee and have A-4500's installed in K'horns and Belles (on ocassion). If you are interested in listening to them, send me an email. jhoak
PS... Great Avatar!!! Thanks... Always (OK most of the time) good for a chuckle The sad part is that I had a pair up until a few weeks ago. I sold them. In the days after I shipped them I thought "dumb a$$... you should have diagramed them... DOH). I'm toying with the idea of changing directions speaker wise. I'm trying to decide whether to get another pair of them or build the ALK universals with perhaps the 4500 change. A couple of good pictures would be great. THANX! Groomlakearea51
I'll take a picture of the A/4500's this afternoon. Invitation is open if you get a chance to be in this area (45 miles from Sebring; 45 miles from Fort Pierce on State Road 70 west of Okeechobee city)
jhoak
Drove right by you last week. We have an office in Fort Pierce and one in Labelle. I had to go from there to Labelle so I went by way of Okeechobee and across. Next time I make that trip I'll see if I have time to stop by. THANX! Groomlakearea51
Used to live in "Laybelle"... My office is right across the Kissimmee River bridge on SR78 on the right side in Okeetantie Marina. Stop by anytime for a cup of coffee, etc.

aj01
I found this searching for it a while ago and bookmarked it... http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/storage/6/720281/Alk_4500.gif
tigerwoodKhorns
Thanks. The ALK's ability to use any impedence driver is a big plus. I have a speakerlab bass bin and I think that the oofer is a different impedence than the K33. I also need the 4500 Hz to use with JBL 2402's. aj01
Let me know if you need a value off of these. I'm the one that bought them from you.
Guest David H
I have a speakerlab bass bin and I think that the oofer is a different impedence than the K33. Over the years speakerlab made a few woofer changes, the one I have however is 4ohm, but the spl is signifigantly higher than the K-33. I used the Speakerlab woofer in my Cornscala's and was able to use and AA crossover of ALK universal without changing the taps. It is a nice woofer. Y2alstott
What is that inductor\coil on the bottom left? It is the only one I can't see.
jhoak
I'm about 99.8% sure that it's a 500uF inductor. I'll pull out one of my La Scalas this evening and confirm that. Edit: Confirmed. Check the picture...
Deang
Thanks. The ALK's ability to use any impedence driver is a big plus. I have a speakerlab bass bin and I think that the oofer is a different impedence than the K33. I also need the 4500 Hz to use with JBL 2402's. Not if you want the impedance to remain constant and don't want the crossover point to shift. The high pass and low pass sections are designed to reflect the same impedance. You can use a mid driver with an 8 ohm rating without creating too big of an impact, but it's not ideal. The low pass section is fixed and designed specifically around the behavior of a horn loaded K-33, which Al uses to model the high pass. I could be wrong, but I suspect Al would frown upon using a different woofer with his filters.
Al Klappenberger
Using a different woofer driver with the Universal network won't make a lot of difference. Its 1st order filter is just too sloppy to care! In the case of the AP12 or especially the ES networks, you should make a effort to stick with a K33 or K33 clone. Al K.
