mshaffer
Hi, I'm trying to find some earbuds to block the background noise at work. I have some $30 Ear Candy (think that's the brand) from Radio Shack, but I can still hear people's keyboards etc in the background. Which would be better, custom fit earbuds or the Etymotic Research ones? I just want the maximum blockage of background noise. Thanks
oldtimer
So you are saying you don't want to hear your boss screaming at you?
Moderators dtel Posted June 30, 2011 Moderators Share Posted June 30, 2011 Not sure but if you don't get an answer here try the headphone section, it was down the page from where you found this section. I can't help because of the 2 pair I have one is discontinued and the other does not really block out as much as the first pair. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/81.aspx
Thaddeus Smith
your question is better suited for head-fi.org. the fact that you're even considering custom ear buds means that you're concerned with price tag/show-and-tell factor over functional needs - they'll be able to tell you which pair of stupidly expensive customs will suit your checkbook. DizRotus
I don't always use earbuds, but when I do, I prefer the real thing... Stay thirsty my friends... As JB would say, "Top Notch" It works on so many levels. The fact that your screen name contains dos equis just occurred to me--the horror of creeping, or is it galloping, senility. Is it a mere coincidence that Boxcar Willie originated in suburban Ovilla?
Groomlakearea51
Not sure if ear-nips would be such a good idea in the workplace.... Ask the boss if you can work at home.... to avoid distractions of course..... [6] [H]

I do have a signed Boxcar Willie album cover for my LP collection. He was quite an artist...

They can sometimes get carried away. I use the in-ear Image X10i for work. It blocks out the noise so I can concentrate, but because they are "isolating" and not "canceling," I can still hear faintly if someone is trying to get my attention. I can't hear keyboards and background "chit-chat" however. Works pretty well. Any of our headphone models will work similarly. We do have a noise-canceling over-ear model coming out this fall. Thaddeus Smith
i wasn't being snobby, btw .. when someone is talking about custom IEMs, usually they are just looking for a bunch of people to pat them on the back and tell them how awesome of a purchase it will be and how there's no other option to even consider. which is what head-fi.org is great at doing. i settled on a mere $300 pair of shure se-425's and love them ..but the snobby head-fi'ers dont think too fondly of them, so whatev. it's like going over to audiogon and asking if you should get such and such $1k interconnect..
