Moderators dtel Posted August 18, 2011 Moderators Share Posted August 18, 2011 Kind of depressing that download singles is growing that much, how can you get a feel for a band or musician from just your one favorite song? Probably in the future all music will be electronic, you will have hard drives instead of a physical collection, that's OK with me if the quality is good. Islander
That's a very interesting animation. Thanks, JB! Who would have imagined all that back in the '80s and '90s?
fini
Vinyl was down to 0.1% at one point, and by 2010 it had bounced back to 1.3%. Woohoo.

altpensacola
the format is supposed to make access to the art easier (as well as make a profit for someone) but at the same time the formats is having a big effect on the art itself. For example the art of the "concept album" is mostly lost. I would bet classical music, especially longer pieces are taking a hit too. When checking out new artists, it's got to pass the 5 second sound byte test sometimes. p.s. I REALLY would have bet that music video would have taken a larger share, so far it didn't.
