I am proud of the people on this site

Recommended Posts

I am posting this to say that i am proud that all the people on this site are all great!

First, after the passing of Paul W. Klipsch, NOT ONE person said anything like "he was old and deserved it." and everyone truely had somthing nice to say. This proves that everyone here is a decent personSmile.gif!

Second, I am a Sim City fan, and on a Sim City forum last night, a person came on and posted 11 posts feturing KKK, the word ******, actual pictures of lynched black people in the South, and many other things like that. It was on there for at least 3 hours. I found it stupid and I know offensive to many. That sort of stuff is COMMON on some sites, but unheard of here.

I just find it amazing how good this forum is. There are hundreds of people who are active and it is amazing that all of them are able to control themselves. I look at the sort of stuff I see on computer forums, then compare them to here, no comparison.

Keep it up, this is the best and most informitive forum I know of!

There is a MUCH bigger audience difference between this site and a gaming site. You have to figure a lot of people that hang out in game forums are imature teenagers with attitude issues and nothing better to do that cause trouble. This kind of forum has the tendancy to draw an older more mature audience. An audience with a lot more curtisy and respect for other people. Belive me, I know. Even though I'm 35, I love to play online computer games like Tribes 2, Quake III Arena and what have ya. I see lots of the kinds of issues you mentioned. I just ignore it and pass it off as some punk showing his a$$. I too was a snot nosed sh1thead once.

Oh wait, I still am. cwm27.gif

I agree we're a good crew. Not to be self serving.

What you're seeing on those other sites are misdirected anger. As I get older, I come to appeciate how much of that is out there, and expressed in odd ways.

It is pretty obvious that the author is miserable about his own life and believes he can't express anger against his agressors, or escape. Frequently they are lower bowel too. So he takes it out on some other blameless mark. Makes him feel superior, and he has found a way of venting in the guise of being a tough minded "adult".

I just came here this week, asked a question and got an immediate response, and plenty of followups as well. This is a great site and a great speaker manufacturer. I get my first pair of Klipsch speakers tomorrow...a pair of RP-3s. Woo-hoo. I got the cable strung out tonight. cwm12.gif

Hello Kenratboy! You are right I have been lurking and responding for a few years now and there is seldom alot of hacking on other people here. Speaking of that I am heading your way, my company just got bought (Bio-Tek Instruments) out by Fluke and are relocating to Carson City, NV monster home theater coming your way. I personally visited the Reno area two weeks ago and really liked it. The Sierra Nevada's make the mountains in VT look like foothills.

Since we have goals, vision and a good measure of compassion for others, we do not waste our energy on ignorant actions. I try to live and interact with others according to the quote below.

" Whoever would live well, long lasting, bringing bliss- Let him be generous, be calm, and cultivate the doing of good. By practicing these three, bliss-bringing things, the wise one lives without regret. His world infused with happiness." -Itivuttaka Sutta

Ya know I have been a California / Oregon boy all my life and I hate to admit it, but I have never been to Reno. I must go. Actually I would love to get a job transfer down to California. We have a major campus in Folsom which is very close to Sacramento. I enjoy gold panning and what not and there is a LOT of gold in the Sierra Navada Mts...

Heh, thats how I could support my new home theater upgrades... Gold panning.

It does seem like "good family" doesn't it? I agree, for the most part, this is an incredible board. Some people seem to live on here too. LOL (OK, sometimes I get hooked on a great question or comment too.)

Bottom line is I think we have respect for one another, because we love this incredible Klipsch speaker company that brings sooooo much joy into our lives. We have people from many different, I am sure, Social, Economic, Philisophical, and Religious backgrounds. And in a funny way of looking at it, I am sure 100% our speakers do not care what is played through them too. LOL...

(OK, I just know jokingly some Klipschorn speaker is saying to itself, "What?, Bag Pipe music again>>>?? Doesn't he EVER get sick of this?" hahahahahaha)

I would love to have a Summer/ Fall get together somehow at the Klipsch Headquarters in Indy. The building is looking pretty good with the new sound test facility. Maybe they could have all the line up for us to hear too. If not, a Tour would make it worth while too. We could meet people who are on the BB from Klipsch etc., etc. (Could also be a "swap meet" for those interested in buying and trading, Local dealer could offer Speakers for sale...as a "Sponsor" of the event.) There is a huge parking lot in front of the headquarters.

Hotels are walking distance in the area with good food that would please most everyone. The airport is like 15-20 min MAX away for those flying in. What a treat that would be! Plus, Indy is so centrally located to most of the USA, it would be easy for most to come in on say a weekend too. We were not called the Crossroads of America for nothing.

Besides, wouldn't your curiosity just go nuts to meet some of the people off of here too? I know mine would. Just a thought.

Frzninvt: I will ask "the annoying" question. Do you have any samples of multi-meters available?... I'm only 17 and poor! Carson City is really nice, there is tons of room and living is very affordable. There is no crime to speak of (I don't think of Vermont as the ghetto) and there is nothing going agaist it. I live in South Reno and it is filling up fast and all the homes are appreciating nicely. After Double Diamond (the BIG tract home project with ~3000+ homes) has literally filled up an entire valley, and once thats done, NO MORE LAND WILL BE EMPTY FOR MAJOR DEVELOPMENT! That means people who want to live in South Reno will need to move closer to Carson.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that Carson City will probably be growing quite rapidly very soon. In the next few years, they will build 395 as a freeway from where it ends in South Reno down through Carson City.

---------

For the most part in Nevada, there are two groups of locals (not unions). There is the 95%-99% who don't gamble, maybe a few $$$ a year. There is also the 5%-1% who live here ONLY on gamble. For the most part, casinos are only a source of TAX REVENUE FOR THE STATE OF NEVADA and a place to get a $20 dinner for $7.99. Nevada is a great state if you like money.

Hmmm, Frzninvt... will you become Plzninnv?

With few exceptions, contributing members of this Forum provide honest questions and answers that provide a ladder of growth without ridicule not only for members but for an even greater number of lurkers.

In the spirit of the late, lamented PWK, this is an open Forum for those who can think beyond the yellow button Mr. Paul kept in his pocket. Where else can you have access to HT & Music technical expertise, audio commentary that goes beyond "knee-jerk" replies, and comments on "real life" issues... insights into who member-contributors really are.

That Fred Klipsch and his multi-state staff continue to support diverse but responsible opinions on this Forum assures posters and lurkers alike that the Spirit of PWK is alive and well.

Special kudos is in order for the "hands off until necessary" style by which BobG and the rest of the Klipsch Forum Minders make this a more interesting venue... and, again, remind us of the Founder who had the genius to understand and the compassion to hear other people out... well, until "Button Time" cwm38.gifcwm34.gifcwm27.gif . -HornED

HornED, your right. It is nice to have a forum where you can actually talk about your life and the real world (as in non-audioSmile.gif) like normal people do.

I found a Mercedez-Benz forum, so you would assume the people on there were mature adults or rich kids, WRONG! It was a mess to say the least. I think that the people and the hobby make this forum what it is.

I want Bose to sponcer a Bose forum on their site...

I would definatley like to thank everyone on this board

esp the staff at klipsch who come and help us. This is

a one of a kind board. Where you dont get ridiculed if

you ask a newbie question etc or an off topic question.

Most boards you bring up a brand that someone doesnt like

and its all over they will start bad mouthing etc etc

you have rude un educated people who make smart remarks

etc etc

This is one of my favorite places to come online and talk

to people, educate myself, get ideas etc and when i post

i know ill usually get an nice real deal answer or someone

who will actually help me.

I also belong to a car group online who all race in one

form or another nissan sentra se-rs and cars powered

by the same engine. And that mailing list and site

www.se-r-list.org and www.se-r.net are just like this

group we are a minority in the huge honda dominated

car world but we have a good solid group mostly older

crowd but very mature and willing to help each other.

I have met many many people from that board and made tons

of new friends outside of cars We have national meets

speak with memebers of nissan north america and tons

of the big guys in the industry are on the list. Its

great to belong to a bunch like this were always having

meets helpeing each other and thats how i feel this board is..

PWK Has a good product, good support and alot of supporters

and followers im sure we make him proud!

These nice words bring a smile to my face. I'll pass them on to all here who have worked to start and support this bulletin board. The real credit however goes out to all of you. Nearly 10,000 registered members and something like 15 times that number who come here to read but never sign up. We at Klipsch don't make this bbd what it is, you do and our greatest respect goes out to you (most of the time). It's truly amazing how little we have to 'interfere' with the posts. While things occasionally get "flamey", it doesn't happen too often. I'm not sure the thread about the conflict in the middle East is what this board was meant to support, but it's your board.

Anyhow, thanks again. We'll try to keep this a useful and enjoyable focus of your Klipsch experience.

Bob: The Mid-East was one of 7500+ posts, so it isn't a trend. Even at that, no race wars were started, which is too much to ask for on the internet. Even at that-, it was one semi-inappropriate post out of so many other good ones.

Admins: Thanks for not annoying people, it is greatly appreciated by all of us! I just want you here to answer questions (like the Klipsch factory questions), bud in when it is needed, and say somthing if you want! You guys do well, keep it up!

This is for sure the best forum i have seen around. Most forums have like a select few regulars and the rest, the vast majority, come, ask a question and never come back after getting the answer. I first came here in 2000 with a simple question before I got my v2.400's, sure wish i could read that post, and now I am hooked! As are many others.

I do not go to other boards; when you experience a comfortable "electronic" neighborhood, you tend to hang around.

When my kids get more grown up I'll be tapping into all that good tube knowledge here.

Unless of course I find a gem during the Michigan spring garage sale season...

I, like Justin, originally came on to this forum just to post a simple question about my then, brand new, V2.400s. That was a little over two years ago (when that Hofy Duct Tape Mounting system thread was still only a page or two). I got my answer and acted upon it and for a while I did not really visit much again. I think I popped in every couple months or so and took a quick scan through to see what people were saying, but I never really had much to say (thus my still relativly low posting count). It was not until I had another question about my V2.400s (the amp giving up the ghost - appropriatly enough on this past Halloween - since then got another one off of ebay and replaced it) that I came back.

Since I got my new HT, I am really glad for this board! I sure had some serious learning to do in selecting and setting up my system. Now, it is just a matter if I want to spend additional dollars for the better line of speakers (Reference 7) versus what I initially finilized on (Reference 3).

Yes, this is definitly one of the best forums/discussion groups I have been in. The closest rival I can think of is the newsgroup rec.roller-coaster. With rec.roller-coaster (or 'rrc' as we effectionatly call it), we have the added benefit of actually getting to together at the various amusment park, so many of those people I have actually met in person (and many of them are here on the east coast, where the majority of the good amusment parks are). The most recent example was opening day of Kneobels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, PA (think of it as the 'Klispch' of amusment parks - a very well, family run, park that actually cares about its customers, the park guests) - there was a HUGE crowd of us rrc regulars there (proudly wearing rrc buttons). That newsgroup has a very low signal-to-noise ratio. I think part of it is due to the fact that so many of us do actually know each other in person - that person you just flamed out could very well be standing behind you in line for your favorite roller coaster during your next visit to the local amusement park :o.

Yes, I do like that idea - a "get-toghether" of some sort, perhaps, as mentioned, at the headquaters of Klispch. Personally, I would love to get a tour of one of thier manufacturing facilities. I would love just to see how a pair of RF-7s or even Klipschorns is born.

My personal thanks to all those that have helped me in my selection of HT gear. I am glad I was able to give back in some way to this forum (as Boa12 can attest to in my explaination of how digital signal processing actually works).

This is by far the best BB I have visited. Interesting, informative, entertaining & addictive. Gotta love it. For the most part the subscribers on this BB show respect for each other, which is refreshing in today's world. I thank the people of Klipsch for hosting this site. And the subscribers for their contributions in making this the best BB ever.
