Cranked up the (new to me) Belle's tonight....

Hi, I just joined this forum, thanks! I have just bought a pair of Belles and they are on their way. Reading this thread is getting me excited!

I'm planning to run them with my 50W per channel vacuum tube amplifier, in the back room (no room inside!), and hopefully bring them out under a covered patio for my vinyl get-togethers. I'll get used to them, then of course upgraditis will kick in!

Can't wait!

Geoff

I agree, the bass is very nice and well balanced.

Measurements do not support this opinion. As you like it, is all that matters. But it's still personal taste and opinion, not fact. See the Tri-amping PEQ setting for a center belle on another thread. -10 db at 188 Hz. to flatten is a pretty major PEQ.

Belle's are a speaker I can be content just sitting & staring at. I agree with those who feel they might be Klipsch nicest looking speaker.

It is definitively that from an aesthetics point of view. PWK's first wife's name translates to "beautiful" in French, so it's a great co-incidence.

Yeah, I should have added IMHO. I'm just running in 2 channel and not mixing with the big dogs like Chris. They sound very nice to me and that's a fact... :)

LOL. I like your response. Our ears are out of balance, so the two typically complement each other. I thought LaScalas were fine until I got into measuring and found out how much the ROOM affected that balance. Below 300 Hz. all bets are off!

1980 Belle's, all original, AA crossovers. Will update the crossovers at some point....

Played several selections from Steely Dan's "Aja", Clapton's "Unplugged", and a few from Anita Baker....

Well, all I have to say is, holy sh*t. Absolutely stunning. Amazing depth and realism. The bass is better than I expected, and I'm happy about that....Wow.
