CECAA850
Luckily we've been hurricane free around here this week but: I have 4 older brothers and am the youngest of 5. Last weekend my brother whose closest in age to me got married. They had an outdoor wedding in Tyler TX and half way through the evening the bottom absolutely fell out. It was horrible but his wife said that at least everyone would remember it (she's right) and things would look up from there. They waited a week and left for their honeymoon on Friday (3 days ago). They both love to fish and being on the water so about 4 months ago they made hotel, flight and deep sea fishing reservations for their honeymoon. The problem is that they're honeymooning in Cabo San Lucas. For those that don't know, it got hit with a Cat 3 hurricane this morning. I've read of 11 inches of rain in an hour and 125 mph winds. The last we talked, the hotel had made everyone go to the lobby to ride it out. He had texted me pics of the sky and all the guests that were cramming into the lobby but I haven't heard anything today. I don't know how structurally sound the buildings are there as they've never been tested by a direct hit before from what I've read. Our family has been sending prayers his way. Moderators dtel Posted September 15, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2014 Glad there OK, could have told him getting married can be dangerous. They will never forget the wedding, hope things change for the better for them and they are safe.
tnr
I had not heard of the Cat 3 hurricane. What a huge relief! I will send prayers.
alexg5775
I bought my house 6 years ago down here in miami and have not had a major huricane since. Thank God. One of the scariest day of my life was huricane Andrew in 1992.
Moderators dtel Posted September 15, 2014 Author Moderators Share Posted September 15, 2014 Miami, good luck, so far we have all been lucky. (Except Carls brother) One thing to remember large heavy Contractor trash bags, keep them around, since you can't really pack everything when it's time to run bag up what you can. If nothing else there is a slight chance to save things if it's just a leaky roof or no roof. You would be surprised at the size speaker or how much electronics can fit in one.
