my old lady can get this thin square tubing as scrap from where she works. it holds lawn mowers so i get a couple every now and then for the tubing. it comes in handy as you will see

cut a few of these out with a grinder.

i attached the mount that i made with the mill, and then attached the tube to it via a 1/4 20 hex head bolt.

as you can see, i have to build up one side of this to keep the bar off of the top of my car.

so i drilled a hole in a solid block of metal to use as a spacer.

i had some moving felt laying around. so i streched it over my roof and sprayed it with water. stuck the hose under it with water running.

Now that's the spirit !

Nicely thought out and constructed, what some folks do to get a good speaker home.... good thing you didn't have to make a emergency-stop though..... :D

Enjoy your new asset. B)

yeah, i had her strapped down pretty hard! took an hour or so total to make.

mpg over the 400 miles to pick them up, 27.8

mpg over the 400 miles back home, 22.3

i did notice a huge difference! lots and lots of wind resistance. klipsch should have made these more aerodynamic!

That's awesome but wouldn't renting a van or SUV have been easier?

Where's the fun in that?  Now, when he finds a pair of MWM's for sale......

Exactly, I know how that feels Coytee, I won't do that again, I thought for sure we were going to get pulled over for having mwm's strapped to a jeep from Athens GA to South Mississippi

.

Doubt there is anything in the Mercedes owners manual about strapping speakers to the roof, :o  that's probably a first ?    :emotion-21:

In the 50's Mercedes once showed the "ruggedness" of their roof-construction by placing more than 20 people on the roof of a bus.... Found the picture in one of our original workshop-manuals.

Not to mention the crash-tests with various models strapped to a rocket and crashed against a concrete wall.

After having to haul several cars out of the ditch further down the test-site [powerfull rockets..] , they attached a chain to the car so they wouldn't have to drive that far to examine the remains and drag it out of the ditch. :D

So a single La Scala is no problem for a Merc !

im a cheapie... this was much more cost effective than renting something to pick it up. update on the truck though, i bought a new hose to fix the leak. then when i get back home, i bust a fitting to my heatercore and nearly overheat my truck! so i ordered new fittings. :( it doesnt seem like i will ever get to finish my theater room!
