Istari
I had one of these!!!! Very Heavy Indeed. Very large transformer, large caps and seperate power transistors (four per side) mounted on the rear external heat sink. Has 125 WPC. Has a built in Dolby B noise reduction circuit(defeatable). It was built like a brick _hithouse, took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. I sold it for a song a few years ago, Wish I'd a kept it... The new units just don't compare. Get it while you can... ------------------ Jim McClung
mobile homeless
What new units dont compare? AV receivers? Best Buy sale items? Short Circuit City boom boxes? Lord, what are you guys doing with all these things???? Yes, they are heavy. But so are steel rims for a 68 Galaxy 500! kh This message has been edited by mobile homeless on 07-31-2002 at 03:57 PM
Guy Landau
Jim, There's one listed in audioweb for 150$ and it seems like a bargain. I have owned the 9090DB for few years but allways prefered the H/K Twin powered 630.
avman
mh..letting them pile up in my garage until i take them to be cleaned/repaired..envisioning(dreaming) of having the time to hook them up and experiment. avman. avman
thanks for the replies, AND the CORRECT model#(looks like a good candidate for thru-home/outdoor speaker amp) avman.

Mike Lindsey
I had the G-8000 which was available at the same time as the 9090. It was a tank as well and I don't know why I got rid of it. I ended up with Yamaha separates but the phono on the G-8000 was far better than the Yamaha. These are nice pieces and if you can get it for a good price, I would get it... whell
Word of caution that I've heard about the "DB" Sansui units: the build in dolby circuit poops out, and is quite difficult to bypass electronically (and replacements parts are not available unless you can canaabilize parts....but then you run the risk of those parts developing the same issue). That is why I jumped in a 9090 (as opposed to the 9090DB) when I found one recently). ------------------ Mike - Livonia, MI Klipsch RF-3 L/R Klipsch RC-3 Center Klipsch RB-5 rears HSU Research VF-2 Sub Marantz SR-19EX receiver Marantz MM-9000 Amp NAD T550 DVD Adcom GCD 700 CD

maxg
What is this - Sansui discovery week?? I just found out a friend has a Sansui tube amp, also from the 1970's. I have no info on it yet - will find out more and post it here on the Sansui appreciation forum. Has anyone ever heard of a little known speaker called Klispch or Klips or something - I hear good things about them.
