The History Kid
Apparently, if you boot the cable bill and switch to Netflix and Hulu (or similar), you're still not saving that much since UHD TV's will cost consumers collectively $1 billion dollars more to run: http://www.displaydaily.com/press-release/32993-ultra-high-definition-tvs-could-add-1-billion-to-viewers-annual-energy-bills Interesting read for sure...

Moderators dtel Posted November 19, 2015 Moderators Share Posted November 19, 2015 But that additional electricity bill is on top of whatever you pay for service. We just got a new 4K TV, 65" and uses 224 W to run It replaced a 10 year old 65" 1080I CRT rear projsction TV, it used 185 W to run Well worth the extra 39 W to me as little as we use it, I thought I was going blind with the other Tv it was going out to be fair. MyOwn
I turned off the TV Cable bill Three years ago. I have the internet bill which is 56 a month and Amazon Prime which is 99 a year. I have an UHF antenna which pulls in all the local channels. I do not miss Cable TV or the cost of it. As far as the energy requirements of the UHD TV's I'm sure that will come down as the technology moves forward.
Mallette
Best viewing distance I have is 10 feet. That means at least a 75" UHD. Not in my price range yet. My 65" plasma will take me across to a full wall, stick to the wall OLED I hope. Dave

JJkizak
I'm waiting for the 21 x 9 OLED 70" something or other. JJK
Mallette
Take wherever you want that would be awesome Yep. But more. I am totally convinced that if I understand the underlying technology of OLED that in the NTD future the stuff will be turned out much like wallpaper. Generic. Storebrand, sold by the square yard (at least in this backward country). Developments beyond it will be in different areas of imaging. Then, there is Hololens. Hard to tell what it may lead to. Interesting things happening in video. Dave
