jason str
Basic construction is completed, just need to mount the driver & leak check. Finishing comes next along with more pictures. Off to the store to get some screws for the driver & chamber cover.
jason str
More pics. This was cool, set the broom down and it stood up by itself. It is not touching the table saw or anything else and could not get it to happen again. 4 different pictures were taken of the driver chamber and the spots were in all of them for some strange reason. Tomorrow is driver leak check day & install driver chamber lid and check for leaks on the lid. Then its onto finishing stage.
derrickdj1
How do you check for leaks other than a good visual inspection prior to the finish?
jason str
How do you check for leaks other than a good visual inspection prior to the finish? With a 20 Hz tone you take a small airline or vacuum hose with one end to your ear and the other end you go along your seams that could possibly leak. Air leaks make a chuffing noise that is easy to detect.

jason str
Firing the new THTLP up this afternoon after i rearrange some stuff, not sanded or finished yet but should sound great. Also will be screwing up a old table top of 1 1/4" glueboard to the wall to keep the rattles at bay. Its bad enough the Table Tuba that is there now makes the window rattle and the noise really bothers me. I may pick up some expanding spray foam and go around the window frame & hope it at least helps.
rockhound
Wow I man that looks great, I bet it will sound equally awesome as well!
jason str
It will look great when its finished, right now just raw plywood. It is going to sound great for sure. Not looking forward to moving the Table Tuba back in the house. Could use some help but i have moved it alone before.
jason str
Pardon the glue ooze & general rough finish as it still has not even been sanded but i wanted to give a listen. My neighbor's are for sure not going to like it but who asked if i care anyways.
cincymat
What frequency range does this sub cover? I'm thinking about building a horn loaded sub to use with my La Scalas. Mark
jason str
Covers to 100 Hz easy, right to where the La Scala is no longer horn loaded.
cincymat
Covers to 100 Hz easy, right to where the La Scala is no longer horn loaded. Thanks for the information. That's exactly what I wanted to know. Mark
Rowan611
Looks great Jason!! Really like the legs on it. Typed on a tiny keyboard, excuse any grammatical errors.

Thank you, still deciding on Oak or Walnut finish. I like them both, a coinflip may be the deciding factor.
Rowan611
Walnut. But I am a bit jaded. My house is littered with golden oak. We are systematically replacing and painting it. Typed on a tiny keyboard, excuse any grammatical errors.
jason str
I like walnut as well but if I'm going to be using this with my Oiled Oak Chorus II's Walnut may not be the best choice. If when i am done with my Heresy's & like the way they sound i may just finish everything in Walnut veneer. No rush anyways, the holiday season is meant to be spent with friends & family. jason str
Talking about the Chorus II's made me want to pull them out and hook them up with the THTLP. Not bringing any good electronics out but the old Pioneer should be enough for a jam session. Have not used these for years, it will be a special treat for sure.
