richieb
Of course it happens - have you never had to replace a light bulb? Apple and oranges, yes, but still ---
seti
I had one tube go noisey in a preamp position a 6sn7. I had another tube an NOS 7F8 loose its dam mind and screeched and squeeled like mad. That is out of dozens and dozens of tubes and many years. I try to use quality tubes though. I scratch built a pair of mono Aikido linestages using 6SN7. We checked for microphonic or noisey 6SN7s by just yanking the tube and swapping in another while powered up. Some growled while a hand was near it, and a couple screamed for mercy. It was quick and dirty, but it worked. 6SN7 can be a crapshoot for noise/microphonics.
