Deang Posted August 29, 2017 Author Share Posted August 29, 2017 I built these for a forum member - and I don't think he's putting them in the cabinets. The C-core autoformer is nice. Preparing it for installation is not. I didn't terminate all of the wires, just the ones within the useable range of most compression drivers. I've never done it, but the first thing that popped into my head was using a fly cutter, then a chisel, then RTV, what a mess that would have been. Dean, yours look elegant. I've tried all kinds of different ways of terminating the leads, and just kind of fell into this method. The inductors were originally in my networks, and when I was building them, I was both tired and in pain - I just wanted to be done with them! The nice thing about oak is that it really holds screws well, and I was surprised at how much torque I could apply. The black material under the leads is Deflex. My days hunched over the work bench are pretty much done I think. I can go two hours at the most. I'm getting ready to covert a nice computer desk into a work table, where I can sit while I work. The one thing I can't do is take on more work than I can handle - which got me in a lot of trouble before. Even this job took much longer than it should have. Heck, I'm still having trouble keeping up with email.
